Shattering Humanity-Chapter 98: Friends To This Day

{Hanabi City, 9 a.m.}

On a slightly meteor damaged football field once belonging to the high school within Hanabi City, Katsu and Saku stand face to face at mid-field, EyeEngaged. The alien snow falling on a warm September cloudy morning.

The birthday boys are smirking at each other with their Sanpaku stares of intimidation.

Katsu’s right human eye displaying Above Sanpaku.

While Saku’s right human eye is displaying Below Sanpaku. The wind blows their hair and snow around them.

The audience is sitting on the visitors side, unbroken bleachers.

Consisting of everyone from Takamagahara including the front row: Princess Kawaii, her knight in furry armor, Friend, and Daisuki.

Second Row: Shelly and Itsuka

Third Row: Sol, Scylia, and Charybdis.

Fourth Row: Aiden and Daylor.

Itsuka and Shelly are sitting next to each other holding each other’s hand, with worried expressions.

Sol, who is sitting behind them with Scylia and Charybdis, shoves her head between the two ’Queens’.

Sol: "I wouldn’t worry about those two. That was just the usual spat that boys have between two ’Alphas’.

I will say, the entire vibe of the room changed once they started mouthing off to each other. It was kinda chilling."

Itsuka and Shelly’s hands squeeze harder in concern. Both strong women are not even phased by the incredible force the other’s grip has.

Itsuka: "One of them is bound to lose."

Shelly: "They’re both going to get hurt either way."

Back in the middle of the field Katsu and Saku are no longer smirking, they are still EyeEngaged.

Saku: "This is your last chance, tell me what’s your problem, they can’t hear us. Just tell me what’s up? Have you been holding back this side of you since you saw me back in that Academy room? Or was it these eyes that made you into a complete psycho?"

Katsu: "Saku, nobody will ever have enough time, to explain the reasons for why I fucking hate you. I can’t kill you today in front of them. But when the time comes, and they aren’t around to see, the look of horror on your death face is never going to be enough. For now, I’m going to make you my bitch."

Saku’s fists and teeth clench while hearing his first ever friend saying this to his face.

Saku: "I could’ve left that goddamn meeting room after waking up from getting knocked out, and been out of your hair forever. Why did you convince your ’pet’ to try making me stay? You make no fucking sense Katsu."

Katsu points to his left ’Angel Eye’ and talks through closed teeth.

Katsu: "Cause I couldn’t get this goddamn eye without you cooperating with Squad 40, numbnuts."

Saku looks over at Friend, Princess Kawaii, Daisuki, Itsuka, and the rest of Takamagahara. Daisuki gets up from the bleachers.

Saku: "Thinking about it now, I am kinda glad you did."

He specifically focuses on Itsuka and she smiles at him.

Saku: "I honestly could say I feel the most complete and happiest as a person than I ever have in my short 19 years of living. Except, the one person who is cool with everyone else, and was my first friend ever, is now saying he wants me dead and for reasons he’s not willing to explain. So in that case, I guess I’m going to have to beat your reason and your hatred out of you."

{Earlier inside the foam sparring room of Sanpaku, 8:40a.m}

All of the eliminated or spectating members of Takamagahara are sitting against the audience wall.

Katsu is standing in the middle of the room with the wooden sparring sword and his usual friendly smile. Saku, Itsuka, and Daylor are all on the competitors wall.

Daisuki walks up as fight director and begins his charade.

Daisuki: "Laaaadies, geeeeentlemen, and the most adorable, endearing, delightful, sweet, lovely and precious Lil Miss Kawaii!"

Sol: "It’s PRINCESS Kawaii!"

Everyone Playing Along: "Yea!"

Princess Kawaii squeaks in awe of everyone standing up for the authenticity of her new title. She gets happy tears and holds back sniffles.

Princess Kawaii: "Tank you*sniffle* everyone*sniffles*! I- *sniffles* I love you all!"

Daisuki: "My absolute apologies, ...and the most adorable, endearing, delightful, sweet, lovely, and precious Princess Kawaii! We are about to begin Round 4 of this birthday tournament between Izanami and Izanagi Divisions. Led by the birthday captains and their most trusted fighters. The score is 3-0 in favor of Izanami. Can Katsu as they say, ’run it back’ with a reverse sweep?"

Saku steps up with a smile.

Saku: "Actually D, I was thinking of making something interesting."

Katsu’s friendly smile goes to a frown and his flip switches, everyone can feel it. Even Saku, who smiles knowing Katsu is showing a bit of his true colors to everyone.

Saku: "Since I feel bad for the little birthday boy, I’ll do this. One final round, all or nothing, winner takes all."

He points his thumb back towards Daylor and Itsuka.

Saku: "Since ’Daylor’ over there is busy being Tay’s common sense and Itsuka has done enough fighting for me today."

Itsuka steps up as if to say something but Saku cuts her off before she gets a word out.

Saku: "AND I’ll be damned if I’m gunna watch you fight her and I don’t get a 1v1 against your ’beast’ or get my revenge for that punch back from Day 1."

Shelly scoffs at his remark and turns her head away. Everyone can no longer feel Katsu’s switch except for Saku, the two are now EyeEngaged.

Katsu smiles at the suggestion and gives a cheerful response.

Katsu: "Haha, sure Saku! That’d be fine with me obviously. But, I mean are you really willing to sacrifice all the hard work of your team, just to have all that hard work wasted? With them also watching their own leader single handedly failing them in the end, Saku?"

Sol can be heard instigating from the crowd.

Sol: "Oooooooooo!"

Saku gets frustrated with her.

Saku: "WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU ON?!"

He relaxes and then returns an intimidating smile back.

Saku: "I’m sure I speak for everyone here, including your little girlfriend, when I say I can easily whoop your ass, even if it’s up and down a football field. In fact, I’m only willing to do that, unless we take this outside. I kinda wanna test my new eye ’abilities’.

Everyone: "Abilities?!?"

Daisuki steps between them, forcing them to disengage.

Daisuki: "Hold on, two things, one, what about Princess Kawaii and Friend? Icemen could come by at any point. And two, when were you gunna ask for me to make a portal for all of us to get outside?"

Saku looks at Daisuki.

Saku: "I wouldn’t worry about Icemen D, we’ll have our whole squad there to protect them until we can open portals to escape."

Daisuki looks at the young man in confusion.

Daisuki: "We? Portals?"

Katsu moves Daisuki out of the way in excitement.

Katsu: "You have the same power as Big Bro?!?"

Katsu and Saku both EyeEngage again.

Katsu: "And I wouldn’t worry about the Icemen either, Big Bro, I’m sure we can handle it."

Saku smiles as he disengages and looks at the empty foam wall behind him.

His left ’Angel Eye’ pops off into second stage. A "flaming" aura of pure white with a black sliver in the middle.

All the other eye users stare in awe of the different aura, and then the non-eye users join in the amazement as a portal begins opening, twice as fast as the ones Daisuki opens.

From the other side, a slightly destroyed football field can be seen, lightly covered in alien snow falling from the cloudy sky.

Itsuka looks at the man she loves and blushes seeing him with his two tone eye aura and using an eye ability. Once the portal hole becomes big enough for Daylor to easily walk through he breaks his concentration on the portal, while keeping his eye in 2nd Stage.

Unlike Daisuki’s portal, Saku’s portal doesn’t start shrinking while he isn’t focused on it. He looks at Katsu and EyeEngages with a cocky smile. The white with a black sliver turns into a black with white sliver before all the IceEyes in the room.

Saku: "Ladies first and forget those toy swords, we’re throwing fists."

Katsu drops his wooden sword and walks to the portal.

{Hanabi City 9:05 a.m.}

Katsu and Saku are EyeEngaged at mid-field, Daisuki is standing up in front of everyone sitting in the bleachers. Princess Kawaii is looking around at the snow falling, Friend catches one in his mouth and the Princess giggles.

Daisuki: "Ladies, gentlemen, and Princess Kawaii, I hope you are all ready and were warmed up from Round 3 because Round 4 is about to display an unprecedented, even for eye users, matchup. The only two lefties known in existence as we know of, the leaders of both their respective Divisions, and friends since they were kids, to this day!"

Katsu smiles and spits in front of Saku without breaking the EyeEngagement. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Daisuki turns around and raises his hand.

Daisuki: "Saku are y-"

Saku swings without giving Daisuki time to finish.
