Shattering Humanity-Chapter 56: The Squad Is Never Full

With Daisuki entering first, next is Scylia and she ends up walking next to him. Saku, Friend, and Itsuka are the next "wave", with Katsu and Shelly last.

The two groups follow him through the well lit traffic tunnel. The "inside" of the sanctuary is no different from where they came from except a couple tents off to the side and the emergency exit doors are now open.

Daisuki gives a wave to the few people who call out to him with a hello. The six additions to Sanpaku look at a father and daughter playing a board game outside their tent.

Little Girl: "Hi Uncle Skii!"

Daisuki stops and takes a knee to get to eye level with the elementary schooler.

Daisuki: "Well Helloooo, Lil Ms.Kawaii has your Papa been able to beat you at your games yet?"

Lil Ms. Kawaii: "Nope. Papa loses at everything!"

Papa: "Oi, oi keep it down Kawaii....(gets upset)....I think I purposely let her win so many times, I forgot how to actually win."

Daisuki(chuckles): "Hehe, I hear that."

He points secretly to his rambunctious Squad.

The cute little girl waddles up to Itsuka and admires her beautifully chiseled physique.

Kawaii(points): "Ney. Ney, are you actually a girl?!"

Papa(disheartened): "Kawaii...(looks at Itsuka) I apologize."

Itsuka(blushes in embarrassment): "No it’s no problem. (looks at Kawaii) Y-Yes I am."

Kawaii(open smiles and lets out a squeak): "You’re really pretty but you look reeaaallly tough too! It’s soo cute! You’re cute Big Sidder!"

Daisuki: "Ok, we gotta get going, you let your Papa win a couple ok princess?"

Kawaii: "I’ve already tried letting him win Uncle Skiii."

Her father puts his head down in shame.

Daisuki: "Haha, hang in there Buck."

The Squad continues down the tunnel.

Itsuka: "Wow. Being the founder of a sanctuary makes you popular huh?"

Katsu is practicing his newly acquired balance on a railing along the walls of the traffic tunnel.

Katsu(proudly): "Even when I didn’t know about Sanpaku, I knew my Big Bro was a cool person. It was the same vibe I got when I first met Saku, I could tell he was cool just by looking at him."

Saku doesn’t acknowledge the complement and everyone is looking at him to at least respond. Except Katsu, who is now jumping off the rails next to the emergency exits.

Saku: "What? It’s not true. I’m not cool at all."

Itsuka(looking in compact mirror): "Well to be honest, I thought you were pretty cool when I first met you, especially since you could take a unexpected headbutt in the gut and be ok shortly after."

Daisuki nudges Scylia and she shakes her head with a smile.

Saku(blushing): "Thanks. But unlike you guys, I don’t judge people based off appearance."

Shelly(irritated): "What’s your problem? They both complimented you but you’ve been acting pouty since we walked through the door into here."

Saku(angry): "Ok. Wanna know? You’re all so willing and eager to get more randos in this Squad. A Squad is suppose to be ’tight knit’.What happens when that Nephil’Bum’ has one of his goons pretending to be a helpless civilian just to find sanctuaries and run back to snitch?"

Scylia: "If you want me to leave ’The Squad’ that you all formed before I joined that’s fine, I certainly don’t want to cause trouble in your friend group."

Daisuki: "Don’t worry about it Scylia, he just gets moody sometimes."

Saku: "No I don’t ’get moody’, Ms. StudentCaptain always has something passive aggressive to say to me and if she knew how to say the right things like Katsu does, I wouldn’t need to use the negative energy to answer her negatively structured questions."

Shelly: "So how could I have ’structured’ that question in a way it wouldn’t hurt your feelings?"

Saku: "See. You just did it again, how about talk to me like you do to your ’Sensei’."

Shelly: "Because he’s my superior and I’m yours."

Saku: "You can be superior over these n-"

Daisuki: "Enough!"

People are staring at the arguing teens and Daisuki has his head in his hands, out of embarrassment and frustration.

Daisuki: "Both of you, just so you know, Sanpaku has a strict, no obnoxious fighting policy. Anybody who breaks that rule gets thrown in the ’jail’ for the night. Usually its men, so I sit and have a couple drinks with them and try to talk it out as a buffer. If the problem continues I add a day. These people see others get in trouble for being a nuisance, I can’t be giving you guys special treatment."

Katsu walks next to Saku.

Katsu: "Don’t think of new Squad members like that Saku, if we’re gunna eventually overpower the Mountains, instead of being known as ’terrorists’, we need to be known as ’The Squad that is never full and accepts anyone trying to make the lives of others better’."

Saku: "Unfortunately for gullible nerds like yourself, the shitheads of the world see those who completely trust strangers as easy prey."

Katsu: "So what made you trust me as a kid when we were first strangers?"

Saku(picks ear): "Other than watching you let three bullies beat you up after loring you into the woods? Nothing.(checks finger and flicks)Maybe the fact I no longer would get 100% of the neighborhood bully’s attention. It made me realize we had a common enemy, little did I know you would be of no help against the enemy."

Katsu gives his friend a big apology smile with his eyes closed.

Daisuki heads for a door with "Head Honcho" written in marker on printer paper. Saku and Itsuka roll their eyes at the humble brag of the sanctuary’s leader. Daisuki opens the door to an actual office with two young men inside sitting and waiting.

One is Aiden and the other is an 18 year old male with a left brown eye and a right IceEye has brown hair, an unshaved scraggly beard, and large eyebrows that have two slits shaved into each of the ends closest to his temples.
