Shattering Humanity-Chapter 101: To Protect The Ones I Love

Daisuki: "What you did was wrong, Katsu!"

Katsu, already half healed from the previous fight, has his forehead to the rug floor in the hotel-like ’Leaders Room’ that connects to Daisuki’s room.

Katsu: "I’m sorry Big Bro! I was worried about everyone under the bleachers! I panicked and I apologize, please forgive me!"

Saku(half healed from the fight) and Itsuka are sitting on Saku’s right side bed while Shelly and Scylia sit on Katsu’s left side bed.

Aiden is sitting in a chair in the corner closest to Katsu’s bed, watching the "trial" of Katsu’s actions. Daisuki sighs and rubs the back of his head.

Daisuki: "What am I gunna do with you two?"

Saku gets upset.

Saku: "Me? What did I do?"

Scylia looks pitifully at Katsu, who hasn’t moved, his hands trembling.

Scylia: "From what you told us had happened, it sounds like that bastard Nephilim was dropping down to harass you some more, Master Daisuki. Katsu was probably still in the heat of that emotional and honorable fight with his friend, nevermind in surprise of his new ability. And from what you’ve told me, that man always has his colleague with him that can ’pop’ any dangers away."

Daisuki: "Yea, but I’m more worried about if he had someone else in that helicopter other than his usual sidekick. As much as I don’t agree with him, Nephilim is genuinely crafty with the way he operates. If he had someone with him, it’s a valid argument in his case that proves we actually are ’terrorists’ willing to kill before talking things out."

Saku gets up from the bed and everyone looks at him as he calmly walks to Katsu, still with his forehead to the floor.

Itsuka: "Saku-"

Saku, with dry blood still on his face, holds his hand up to cut her off as he stands next to Katsu, dry blood on his chin.

Saku steps on the back of Katsu’s head and Shelly gets up but Scylia holds an arm up to hold her back.

Shelly growls at Saku while Katsu silently growls at the carpet, annoyed. Itsuka is watching Katsu closely trying to catch him to prove Saku’s earlier accusation, but her angle doesn’t let her see his changed face.

Saku puts his elbows on his knee, looking down at his rival division leader.

Saku: "You know what, as the leader of Izanami Division, I will take responsibility for his actions D, not only was it me that riled him up, I shouldn’t have let the fight go on that long, and I should’ve socked him in the face instead of being in awe of his new ’half impressive’ ability."

Shelly talks from behind Scylia’s outstretched arm.

Shelly: "Not to mention, it was your idea to bring the fight outside for no real reason, leading to this whole mess. You wanted to showcase your ’abilities’, but ended up getting Katsu in trouble with his!"

Saku looks over at her and steps down a bit harder.

Saku: "That’s because I realized, if I had used a certain ability, Katsu here would be dead."

He eases up on Katsu’s skull and looks back at Daisuki.

Saku: "If he ever does something like that again, I’ll stop him, you have my word."

Shelly: "No! If he ever gets like that, ’I’ will handle him, not you! So get the hell off him!"

He steps off Katsu and Katsu’s face changes back to a smile.

Katsu lifts his head up and from his knees, looks up with tears in his eyes but still a smile.

Katsu: "Thank you, Shelly. Thank you, Saku. I’m sorry to all of you. I was fully committed to providing a good example of being able to keep up with you all, I guess I got a little carried away. I’ve never had the power or strength to be the hero I always wanted to be for you. Now that I do..."

Katsu stands up and points his finger to the sky. Everyone except for Saku and Itsuka smile as Katsu reverts back to revising his ’purpose’.

Katsu: "...now that I have that power to save people, my new purpose is to use these powers to save humanity, not just the people I love and care for."

Daisuki shakes his head with a smile.

Daisuki: "Well, out of all the people in the world, I’m sure glad you have the most valuable ability Katsu. By the way, Saku, what’s your ability, you were saying ’abilities’ earlier."

Saku looks at Daisuki, around the room then back at his Mentor.

Saku: "Are we gonna tell everyone here about what happened last night?"

Shelly, Itsuka, Aiden and Scylia look at him confused.

Then the girls blush, assuming the worst.

Shelly: "Whaaat happened...?"

Itsuka: "...Laaast Night?"

After explaining to everyone in the room about the ’Anjells’, the ’Eyes of Wisdom’, the birth of Leviathan and humanity, and what the Icemen/IceEyes are, Aiden is now the one who is star-eyed from all the information.

Daisuki: "And that’s why I called them ’Angel Eyes’ by accident in the sparring room."

Shelly: "And that’s why you were mumbling about Angels in your sleep this morning."

Daisuki: "I was?!?"

Aiden: "I knew it! Humanity’s complexity compared to other life on this planet is the result of Theistic Evolution! The Creation theory mixed with the Evolution theory is the origins of our being! This is amazing news you guys!"

Scylia gives the infatuated young genius a concerning look then shoots the look over to Daisuki.

Scylia: "But if all that’s true, what about Heaven? What about ’God’? Are we truly just a rushed alien science experiment, on the brink of extinction, all caused by the hatred of other life that once existed in the universe?"

Everyone except Saku, gives her questions a second to think about them. Saku chimes in with a condescending tone.

Saku: "Wait, you guys actually believed in a ’God’? What the-? You’re all as bad as Katsu! Fictional stories are just stories. It doesn’t matter what ’message’ they try to get across, if you change your life views because of a fictional story, you’re a nerd."

Scylia looks down, ashamed to have brought it up but then Katsu steps up to defend his Division teammate.

Katsu: "Hey, relax Saku! She’s more concerned about the stories most people view as real. I know my old shows are fake, but when it comes to the afterlife and those religions that protect those views, don’t shame anyone looking for comfort in the unknown!"

Saku sucks his teeth and looks away.

Saku: "Tsk. Whatever, nerds."

He looks at Itsuka and she EyeEngages with him.

Saku: "Why?"

Itsuka smiles calmly at him and holds his chin in her soft hands.

Itsuka: "It shouldn’t matter what makes someone a better person to others. Whether it’s fake stories, real stories, fake people, or real people. If I become an overall better person because of you, does that invalidate my reasoning because someone else hates you for reasons I don’t know of, or possibly disagree with?"

Katsu side eyes Itsuka in silence, knowing her specific out loud argument, is in reference to him and thinks to himself.

Katsu(thinking): *Saku’s already told her? Now I have to be careful around her. He’s got her wrapped around his finger and her skepticism will only make protecting Shelly harder. Well, until I can at least get my Angel Eye strong enough to control her and other eye users*

Everyone watches the young woman calm the division leader down and Saku takes a deep breath as they disengage. Saku turns and looks at them all.

Saku: "So Katsu has the ’Communication’ Eye of Wisdom, and I have the ’Absorption’ Eye. Any abilities that have been used on me or in front of me, all I have to do is think of the power..."

His left alien eye goes into 2nd Stage, a bright white aura with a black streak. He looks at the remote control for the overhead light on the table across the room, it *POPS* out of existence. He looks at his hand, and the remote *POPS* into his hand. He points it the light making the room brighter.

Saku: "...And I can recreate the ability."

He looks at Katsu.

Saku: "ANY. Ability."

Katsu gets up closer and smiles at Saku.

Katsu: "Except mine, right?"

Both Saku and Itsuka get a surprised expression. Aiden and Shelly start thinking.

Katsu doesn’t change face though, he keeps his friendly smile. Aiden then speaks up after he and Shelly are thinking.

Aiden: "Yea. Didn’t you say that in your dream, Saku, the Iceman named Lilith, told you the ’Eyes of Wisdom’ can’t be used on each other?"

Shelly: "If ’she’ couldn’t use the ’Eye of Destruction’ on the user with the ’Eye of Creation’ does that mean all the other ’Eyes of Wisdom’ can’t be negatively used on each other? How come Leviathan could use it’s ’Eye of Wisdom’ to recreate the other users and their eyes for negative purposes?"

Itsuka then looks at Katsu with a worried expression. Katsu has a dopey look on his face then a friendly smile on his face as they EyeEngage and Itsuka can feel just how strong Katsu’s special eye is.

Itsuka: "So does that mean, if these IceEyes aren’t the authentic ’Anjell Eyes’ and just copies, will Katsu also be able to control humans with IceEyes someday, like that Elder did with Saku and Mr. Daisuki?"

Everyone in the room sees a calming and genuine smile from Katsu but deep inside, the "darkness dormant inside the light" speaks in a more ominous tone that the others can’t hear.

Katsu and Inner Darkness: "Don’t worry Big Sis, I’ll only use these powers to protect humanity, and to protect those I love."
