Seeking Truth with a Sword-Chapter 648 - 587 Nuclear Energy
Two helicopters: one plunged into the sea, the other crashed onto the deck.
The swiftly rotating propeller blades collided with the deck. Half a blade snapped off immediately, spinning away and slicing into the metal exterior wall, producing a sharp, metallic clang that startled the navy sailors just rushing out of the doorway.
At that moment, a cross-shaped beam of light materialized above Li Ang’s head. Several luminous chains extended from it, attempting to bind his limbs.
The six-centimeter-thick alloy deck beneath his feet quickly frosted over, freezing his feet firmly to the ground.
Furthermore, a custom-made sniper bullet, as thick as a finger, was fired from a window on the lower deck. It curved in mid-air, heading straight for the Ink Silk Clone’s brow.
Like the East Sea Fleet, the US Navy vessel also had Superpower Users on standby to prevent sudden boarding assaults.
Li Ang regarded the simultaneous attacks with indifference, standing his ground without dodging.
BUZZ!
Vast Telekinesis radiated from him, sweeping in all directions.
All bullets, including the custom-made sniper round, abruptly froze in mid-air, their rotation ceasing.
The layer of frost underfoot and the luminous chains binding his limbs shattered instantly.
The metal decks between each level did nothing to slow or hinder the Telekinesis. Instead, their uniform material acted as a conduit, transmitting the force.
Like a bat’s echolocation, his Spiritual Sense locked onto the Superpower Users emanating unique fluctuations and behaving erratically. Then, with a casual clench of his fist...
BANG!!
CRACK! CRUNCH!
The sound of snapping bones filled the air. All who attempted to resist, whether soldiers or Superpower Users, had their bones brutally twisted and crushed by Telekinesis before being tossed aside in heaps.
A metal-manipulating Superpower User, refusing to give up, charged onto the deck. He forcefully gestured with both hands, and three Dense Array MK15 20mm close-in weapon systems (CIWS) on the deck swiveled towards Li Ang and opened fire furiously.
RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT—
The 20mm CIWS rounds, originally designed to intercept anti-ship missiles, rained down like a torrential storm.
Li Ang spread his hand, erecting a barrier that blocked all the cannon shells, then gave a gentle wave.
BOOM!
Three CIWS were forcibly ripped from their mounts by Telekinesis, crushing the metal-manipulating Superpower User beneath them into a bloody pulp.
Smoke still curled from the hot muzzles of the cannons.
Li Ang strode forward unconcernedly. With each step, Elemental Material blossomed beneath his feet like flowers, spreading and growing, resembling the legendary Buddha who created lotuses with every footfall.
Once dispersed, the Elemental Material rapidly devoured any alloy steel it touched, seeping through the layers of steel plating and eroding the aircraft carrier’s structure.
The radar systems, countermeasure systems, combat systems, defense systems, and, critically, the electrical power system.
Amidst the pervasive sounds of metal fracturing and becoming brittle, the Elemental Material reached the heart of the aircraft carrier: two A4W nuclear reactors designed by Westinghouse, boasting a combined output of 260,000 horsepower and a fuel enrichment level of 60%.
These reactors, brimming with such abundant energy, shone like gold mines in the view of his Spiritual Sense.
Li Ang lifted his restrictions. The Elemental Material instantly swarmed over the nuclear reactors, transforming into innumerable tendrils that voraciously drained their electrical power. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
CRACKLE... HISS...
Lights throughout the carrier began to flicker. Weapons, radar, and communication systems all went offline simultaneously.
Officers on the bridge realized in horror that the entire aircraft carrier had become an isolated island at sea, losing all contact with the accompanying fleet.
It had transformed into a powerless, sea-bound iron coffin—unable to move, communicate, or attack.
More fatally, the nearby escort fleet, drawn by the explosions and flames, was still approaching. Missile cruisers, missile destroyers, and rescue ships steamed towards them urgently, their search-and-rescue helicopter spotlights sweeping across the tumultuous waves.
"Don’t come any closer! It’s dangerous here!"
An officer burst out of the bridge, shouting into the night, even though he knew his voice would be easily drowned out by the crashing waves and would never reach their allies.
As expected, the friendly ships continued their approach. Meanwhile, the Elemental Material on the aircraft carrier proliferated further by extracting energy and devouring metal.
SHHRRRIP.
The Ink Silk Clone, having reached its duplication threshold, split in two. Both now faced the pitch-black sea.
Their next target: the escort fleet.
The two Ink Silk Clones stomped heavily on the deck.
THUD!
The deck caved in deeply. Like cannonballs, the clones launched themselves towards two distant ships.
The Ink Silk Clone that landed on the missile destroyer *Curtis Wilbur* unleashed terrifying Telekinesis, crushing the entire bridge command center down into the ship’s hull. It then repeated its earlier tactic, deploying Elemental Material to sever the power systems and cripple the vessel.
Meanwhile, the Ink Silk Clone that reached the missile cruiser *SS Antititan* met with fierce resistance.
Soldiers manned CIWS, autocannons, and machine guns, desperately firing at the clone, while the Superpower Users onboard unleashed their abilities.
The Ink Silk Clone, now engorged with absorbed energy, didn’t erect a Telekinetic barrier to block the shells this time. Instead, it melted into a liquid state and seeped into the deck.
The soldiers and Superpower Users lost their target. They stared, bewildered, at the worm-like lines moving within the metal deck, hesitating to fire—that was where the missile VLS (Vertical Launch System) was located.
In the next instant, the Elemental Material carpeting the deck erupted violently. It shot out countless thin filaments that sliced the CIWS, autocannons, machine guns, armed helicopters, and the soldiers and Superpower Users operating the defensive weapons into pieces.
Two seconds later, the filaments drifted down.
Rivers of blood flowed across the deck, the thick crimson gore spilling into the sea and attracting a frenzy of sharks.
Witnessing the horrific scene, the remaining US Navy sailors were consumed by terror. Some, splattered with the limbs of their comrades, trembled violently, clutching their weapons, motionless.
WHOOSH...
The Elemental Material coalesced once more, taking on a humanoid form, not a speck of blood visible on its body.
After deploying Elemental Material and crippling the ship, the Ink Silk Clone moved on, stepping past the frozen sailors as it headed towards its next target.
"All communications with the opposing fleet are cut off?!" Xing Hechou was utterly astonished to hear this over the intercom. Even after a whole night of tense confrontation, the command hierarchies of both fleets had maintained a significant degree of restraint. They had kept communication channels open to prevent an accidental firefight that could send human civilization back to an era of club-wielding apes.
He swept his gaze over the vast sea. With his enhanced vision as a Superpower User, he could barely make out the lights of the US Navy ships on the horizon, extinguishing one by one.
What happened over there?
After pondering for a moment, Xing Hechou took a deep breath. "Ling Lan," he said, "you take command for now. I’m going to check it out."
With that, without waiting for his subordinates to react, Xing Hechou leaned on the railing, vaulted off the deck, and dashed across the waves.
"Director?!"
Xing Hechou’s sudden action startled everyone from the Special Affairs Bureau, including Wei Linglan.
"The Director just took off. That’s really something," Thousand-miles Sealing Blade grumbled, patting the sword hilt at his side. He then also jumped off the deck and gave chase.
