Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Not Taking Spencer Sawyer Seriously

The bidding conference for the Dreamtide Bay Resort project began right on schedule.

The participating companies arrived at the conference hall on time.

Whether by the organizer’s design or by sheer coincidence, The Rhodes Group was seated directly across from Solis Company.

Adrian Lancaster and Spencer Sawyer only had to look up to see each other.

This was a battle without smoke or gunpowder. The only thing that mattered was the result, and the competition was fierce.

In the end, only one company would win the bid, securing the development and management rights for the Dreamtide Bay Resort.

Adrian Lancaster was determined to win. His gaze was sharp, full of an oppressive intensity and undisguised ambition. He exuded a powerful aura that was second to none.

Spencer Sawyer’s presence was no less formidable. He was calm and reserved, carrying himself with a poised confidence. Thoroughly prepared, he was certain he could secure Dreamtide Bay.

The other bidders, though they didn’t say it aloud, knew in their hearts that they couldn’t win. The final victor would surely be The Rhodes Group; their presence today was merely a formality.

These CEOs were unfamiliar with Solis Company’s background and capabilities—they had never even heard of it. Consequently, they paid Spencer Sawyer no mind and ignored him completely.

Solis Company was isolated, but Spencer Sawyer was unfazed. He was well aware that he wasn’t here to make friends; his focus was entirely on the bid.

As per procedure, each bidding company sent a representative to present their proposal.

Kevin Dawson represented The Rhodes Group, while Spencer Sawyer took the stage himself for Solis Company. The other companies followed Adrian Lancaster’s lead, having their assistants present.

After the presentations, the agenda moved on to other items. The conference dragged on from nine in the morning until six in the evening before finally concluding.

The organizers concluded by saying, "The final results will be announced tomorrow."

The bidders filed out of the conference hall, led by Adrian Lancaster. Spencer Sawyer, in no rush, lingered at the back.

Several of the CEOs swarmed around Adrian Lancaster, showering him with praise. They congratulated The Rhodes Group on its presumed victory, fawning over him in hopes of getting a small piece of the Dreamtide Bay project.

"President Lancaster, the celebratory banquet has already been arranged. It’s the perfect time to head over."

"President Lancaster, we’ll be counting on your support in the future. We hope you’ll look out for us."

"President Lancaster, the exit is this way."

Adrian Lancaster remained aloof and silent. His sharp gaze was fixed straight ahead, but his sidelong glance was dismissive, as if no one there was worthy of his notice.

The large entourage swept out of the building.

A Rolls-Royce was parked at the bottom of the steps, and the chauffeur respectfully opened the door.

Just then, Adrian Lancaster glanced back.

Spencer Sawyer was just walking out of the building with an assistant by his side. Both wore serious expressions as they discussed some important matter.

"President Sawyer," Adrian Lancaster called out in a deep voice.

Spencer Sawyer looked over and raised a hand, signaling his assistant to pause their discussion. With steady steps and a calm, composed expression, he walked directly toward the group. His courteous demeanor made him look more like a refined scholar than a businessman.

"What can I do for you, President Lancaster?"

"Join us for the dinner party tonight," Adrian Lancaster offered.

It had been Spencer Sawyer’s habit since childhood to never dine with people he was not familiar with.

"I appreciate the kind offer, President Lancaster, but I have urgent matters to attend to at the company and can’t get away. Please, enjoy yourselves. I won’t be joining you."

With that said, he turned and walked away without lingering.

At this blatant rejection, Adrian Lancaster’s eyes turned cold.

Besides Wren Sutton, Spencer Sawyer was only the second person to ever dare defy him. And to top it off, they had both graduated from the same university.

Seeing this, the other CEOs nearby began to chastise Spencer Sawyer in unison, as if they had rehearsed it.

"That young man has no sense of propriety. No matter how busy you are, there’s always time for a meal."

"Talk about someone who doesn’t know what’s good for him. President Lancaster, you’re giving him too much credit. Who does he even think he is?"

Adrian Lancaster withdrew his gaze and said pointedly, "Spencer Sawyer is far from a nobody."

’Solis Company’s proposal is just as strong as my own. All things considered, they actually have a real chance of winning.’
