Secret Marriage, High-Profile Pampering!-Chapter 618: The Person Waiting for Her Back Home
As they passed the deck, the French man suddenly fired a shot towards Manuel Ink through the gap between the bodyguards.
He aimed at Manuel Ink’s right cheek; Manuel was standing near the iron chains on the deck, with the sea below him.
When the bullet flew over, Manuel instinctively veered to the left to dodge, losing his balance and pulling Summer Sutton along with him into the sea with a splash.
On the boat, the Frenchman’s gun was still firing relentlessly.
He randomly sprayed bullets at the sea where Summer Sutton was, leaving no wave untouched.
Summer Sutton was dragged into the water by Manuel Ink, struggling to swim towards the distant beach.
Bullets rained down on the sea surface above them, creating splashes like raindrops.
It was nighttime, the sky had long turned dark, and the light on the sea was dim.
Summer Sutton’s heart was in her throat, terrified of being accidentally hit by a bullet.
During the swim to the beach, Summer seemed to smell a bloody scent in the seawater, but she didn’t know whose it was.
Her senses had become numb, her legs and feet on the brink of cramping, and breathing was becoming difficult.
The French man’s people had already entered the water, closing in.
Manuel Ink was struggling to support her, still swimming toward the beach.
"Maybe you shouldn’t worry about me, just go by yourself!" Summer Sutton was so exhausted she couldn’t swim anymore, unwilling to burden him.
"Haven’t you always wanted to return home? Have you forgotten the people waiting for you there?" Manuel Ink replied casually, pulling her along to continue swimming.
His words were merely offhand remarks.
Since meeting him, Summer Sutton had constantly mentioned returning home.
Although Manuel Ink hadn’t asked anything, he could guess that there was someone very important waiting for her at home.
His words seemed to work wonders.
Summer Sutton, who was previously lackluster, suddenly rejuvenated as if energized.
Clenching her teeth, she continued to swim along with him.
The swimming techniques that Summer Sutton mastered were taught by Adrian Walyon; Summer never imagined that they would be of use in such a situation.
On the way to the beach, the bloody scent continued to spread, permeating the air more and more intensely.
Summer Sutton’s entire body felt as if it wasn’t hers, completely numb, devoid of any awareness.
She still didn’t know if the blood was hers or Manuel Ink’s.
The only thing she remembered was being protected by Manuel Ink from the cabin to this far in the swim.
Bullets seemed to have headed her way a few times, and each time, she thought a bullet would hit her, but the expected pain never arrived. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Having narrowly escaped the group pursuing them, they struggled to find a beach and made it ashore. Summer Sutton heavily collapsed on the beach, feeling like she had survived a near-death experience.
The man beside her also collapsed onto the beach.
At first, Summer Sutton thought he was just like her, tired from swimming too long, and needed to rest.
However, when her gaze swept towards him and caught a shocking sight of red on his back, Summer Sutton was completely stunned.
"Adrian!" She stretched out her hand, giving him a gentle shove.
The man beside her made no response.
"Ink, Ink..." Summer tried another name, but didn’t know how to address him.
The man quietly lay on the beach, still showing no response.
"Mr. Ink!" Summer Sutton’s heart went cold. She stiffly turned his body over and reached a hand towards his nose to check.
