Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 511: "... he is a wuss."
Luo Muchen bristled at the insult, his fists clenching tightly till he drew blood. He shot a furious glare at his father, spitting his words through gritted teeth. "Don’t you dare speak about him like that?"
Master Lee snorted derisively, mockery sharp in his voice. "Oh, this esteemed son of mine now knows how to talk back to me. How unfilial. For that bitch you dare speak to me like that!" His voice rose in anger, his face creating a venomous contrast with his son.
The room seemed to vibrate with the intensity of their confrontation, the air heavy with unspoken tension. The ink stains and blood on Luo Muchen’s face mirrored the darkness that had settled between them.
The lines on Master Lee’s forehead deepened as he struggled to restrain his anger. Like a father coaxing a toddler throwing a tantrum, he lowered his tone after calming himself down but he forgot who he was dealing with. "Where is he?" he asked his chest heaving. "Where did you hide him?
Luo Muchen remained silent. Master Lee, his patience wearing thin, stroked his beard in frustration. "Fine, let me extend an olive branch... I won’t eliminate him and you can keep him as a secret mistress but you have to marry Zi Mixen. How about it? Isn’t that a better compromise?"
Luo Muchen didn’t even save his father some face. "No, I will not keep him a secret. He is my wife."
Master Lee, "..."
He was shaken by his son’s drastic change in attitude. He wanted to know what sort of poison that vixen fed his son because it didn’t make sense at all. Having realised that there was no point in fighting him as he was stubborn, he decided to continue and hunt down Qie Xieling. He would imprison him and use him to make his son comply.
"I tried to reason with you, to appeal to your sense of duty, but you leave me no choice," he said. With a heavy heart, Master Lee motioned to the guards, and they tried to grab him but Luo Muchen glared at them. Scared for their lives they retracted their hands. Luo Muchen turned his gaze back and in a low voice, he threatened his father. "If anything happens to him... I will end you," he said before turning to leave. For a split second Master Lee saw the shadow of Luo Muchen’s mother in those eyes. That fierceness in his eyes was eerie similar shaking him to the core.
He remembered the day he last saw her. In the dead of night, his room was cloaked in an eerie stillness. As he lay in deep slumber, his rhythmic breathing the only sound in the room a shadowy figure slipped through the window, moving with the grace and stealth of a seasoned warrior. With a swift and silent approach, she loomed over his bed, her eyes blazing with a mixture of fury and hurt.
Master Lee stirred from his sleep waking up with a blade to his throat. The shock of seeing her after so long caused his heart to race, and the sight of her fierce gaze sent a chill down his spine. Today her son was wearing the same expression shaking him to the core. He never thought one day his own seed would treat him like that over a ger who couldn’t even produce offspring.
***
The so-called ger that couldn’t produce offspring was angrily accusing Jolie of cheating after playing rock paper scissors for the nth time. Qie Xieling had not won not even once and now he was accusing Jolie of cheating.
"How can I? Are you saying I can read your mind? I might be the queen of AI but I am not that powerful," she said but she was obviously gloating. She found that tormenting him was even more amusing than tormenting Wen Qinxi. He was about to retaliate when the carriage stopped abruptly.
"Step out of the carriage," said a muffled voice outside the carriage and the two looked at each other.
Qie Xieling grabbed the sheathed sword underneath the seat and Jolie showed a malicious smile while checking her weapons. She couldn’t wait to put these idiots in their place.
The two of them stepped out of the carriage only to find that they were encircled by a ring of menacing figures cloaked in black. The coachman had a cruel blade pressed against his throat, a bead of crimson trickling down his skin.
Jolie began to tremble like she was going to piss her pants at a moment’s notice. Her entire body was quivering like a newborn fawn. To others, she seemed very scared but only Qie Xieling knew this was an act. He almost rolled his eyes.
"You-young master. I am scared," she said and Qie Xieling pulled her close getting into the act.
"Stay close," he said as they took a step back pretending to be weak. The leader sneered seeing this. He couldn’t understand why his client said to be cautious of Qie Xieling when he was obviously a weak chicken.
"Little girl... your young master can’t protect you. All we want is him not you so step aside," said the assassin. "If you care for her at all you should step forward and come willingly," he continued to say demanding his compliance.
Qie Xieling restrained his anger simmering beneath the surface. "Go," he said through gritted teeth and she really got into the act of begging for her young master.
"Please, I beg of you, spare my young master! He is innocent in all of this! He has never even hurt a fly. When there is a fly I have to kill it. He is a wuss," said Jolie crying like it was the end of the world.
Qie Xieling, "..."
The assassins, "..."
Jolie sensed the pin-drop silence so she looked up and whispered, "Too much?"
Qie Xieling, "What do you think?"
"Oh... please let him go. You have never seen him with a spider. He screams like a little girl and jumps-," She continued spilling the beans and Qie Xieling pushed her away saying,
"Ok, that’s enough. Go on."
