Chapter 497: "He is married."

Surrounded by disciples from both the Lee and Zi families, they made their way towards the bustling town. The curious gazes of the townspeople followed their entourage as they passed through, aware that a martial arts competition was taking place soon. The air was filled with anticipation and excitement. Some young women were eager to find husbands while some young men were eager to be noticed by the big families and hopefully become a disciple.

As they approached the town, a group of young, marriageable age women gathered by the bridge. Their eyes sparkled with admiration as they caught sight of the handsome and stern-faced Luo Muchen. Unable to resist his allure, they impulsively threw their handkerchiefs towards him, hoping to catch his attention. However, Luo Muchen paid no heed to their gestures, his focus solely on the journey ahead. His fingers tightened on Qie Xieling’s waist as he dodged the pretty silk handkerchiefs raining down on them.

Zi Mixen heard the screams like that of pigs and opened the curtain slightly and glared at the group of young women before closing her curtain.

Qie Xieling’s lips twitched as he averted his gaze. How things never changed. Luo Muchen always caught girls’ attention no matter where he was. The number of love letters that passed through his hands were countless and even in the game he was still stealing the virtual hearts of women.

Luo Muchen saw the corner of his mouth move and leaned in close before asking, "Jealous?" Qie Xieling rolled his eyes before smirking.

"When I am jealous you will know," he said and Luo Muchen’s brows furrowed slightly wondering if he had seen him jealous before. But why would Qie Xieling be jealous of him when their marriage was born from treachery? One thought he was marrying a woman and the other was forced to marry by his master. They weren’t destined to be together in the first place.

Once they reached the inn, Luo Muchen dismounted the horse before extending a hand to help Qie Xieling down. As he prepared to step down, a young woman from the crowd rushed forward, urged on by her friends. In her hands, she held a delicately embroidered handkerchief, a family name elegantly stitched onto the fabric.

Qie Xieling’s surprise was evident, but before he could react, Luo Muchen’s jealousy flared up. Swiftly, he snatched the handkerchief from the young woman’s grasp and cast it aside, his actions betraying his possessive nature.

"He is married," he said and the young woman’s eyes drooped before she ran away scared. Qie Xieling’s eyes widened in astonishment at Luo Muchen’s impulsiveness. Qie Xieling was about to ask if he was jealous just like Luo Muchen asked him before but he was suddenly approached by Bi Yize holding something wrapped in a purple cloth.

His eyes sparkled though his face barely showed any emotion. "I never thought you would get here. I went ahead and brought you these. They are the finest in town and I watched them make it," he said while handing it to him.

Bi Yize could only be what others would dim a brave soul. He was the type to run towards danger despite others’ warnings. He could clearly feel the dark aura emanating from Luo Muchen but he still continued to talk to Qie Xieling.

Luo Muchen clenched his hand that was behind his back till his knuckles turned white. The amount of disrespect these people had towards him was insurmountable. It was because of his identity and his lack of backing powerful enough that Bi Yize dared to approach his wife and pursue her right in his face. This was one of the reasons he needed power so such people would never dare disrespect him but the path to achieve that was no easy fit. Before Qie Xieling could say anything, Jolie grabbed the goods with a smile so big you would think she had won the lottery. Bi Yize wanted to complain but Jolie smiled slyly before saying, "Go on... you can go now."

Bi Yize gritted his teeth but he recalled the deal he had with this little short girl. He turned to Qie Xieling and said, "I hope you will like them."

Luo Muchen grabbed Qie Xieling’s arm and said, "He won’t eat them," before pulling Qie Xieling into the inn. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Qie Xieling, "..."

He thought Luo Muchen was going to say, "He is spoken for." That would have been the icing on the cake.

When they entered the inn, the elderly woman greeted them. Luo Muchen let go of Qie Xieling’s arm which was a big mistake. Dora the explorer over here curiously walked towards the opened door leading to the centre of the inn with a fountain. Luo Muchen noticed and said, "Excuse me," before walking over to grab Qie Xieling and bring him back.

The woman didn’t say much. She just stood there with a graceful smile. When he returned he mentioned their family name and she took out a letter with his father’s seal. It had been dropped off earlier and it was addressed to him.

Luo Muchen had a very bad premonition when he saw that letter. He put it away before Qie Xieling could see it. After exchanging a few words with the innkeeper he led Qie Xieling upstairs into a room at the end of the passageway.

He closed the door with a bang almost terrifying the poor hamster. "Shit, Muchen, why close the door like that? It’s not like your family owns this place-," he said only to be pinned against the wall the fierce hunger in Luo Muchen’s eyes glinting wickedly as he leaned in for a kiss that started off tentatively and soon spiralled into a passionate exchange that left Qie Xieling breathless.

As their lips met, the world around them faded away into nothingness, and everything around them whittled down to the overwhelming sensations that radiated from their every touch. His lips were gently sucked on before being bitten, a nip leaving behind a mark like a tangible testament to Luo Muchen’s dominance. It was like he was reestablishing his territory for others to see.

Qie Xieling felt lightheaded, his knees growing weak beneath him while his heartbeat pounded uncontrollably, drowning out all background noise.
