Chapter 471: Divorce

"Hey... brother in law!" yelled Lee Ya but Qie Xieling ignored her. Lee Ya sighed before running after him to catch up. The two walked up the small hill one after the other but halfway through Qie Xieling turned around and said, "I know you had something to do with this. I just can’t prove it but I know you had everything to do with it."

Lee Ya clutched her invisible pearls as though to deny it. Qie Xieling didn’t bother arguing with her. He walked away and when he reached his bedroom he slumped onto the bed in annoyance. He always went through it in each world but this time it was even more insufferable. He thought being married from the start would make it easier but it didn’t.

"What should I do? I am not going back to the Bi family. I would rather be homeless," said Qie Xieling and Jolie the culprit who had put the last nail on the coffin, felt quite guilty. She lay down next to Qie Xieling and looked up to the roof silently.

"We can leave tonight. We can run away and ask your dad for more game currency. I promise this time I won’t be wasteful," said Jolie and Qie Xieling sighed. He knew that there was some martial arts competition and there Luo Muchen would suffer some sort of humiliation. He had to help him somehow but he couldn’t do that if he was sent back to the Bi family.

Qie Xieling sighed deeply as the room fell into silence. Meanwhile, outside the window, Luo Muchen watched from the corner his expression unreadable. He could see the two of them sharing a bed while chatting but he couldn’t hear what they were saying.

He knew he shouldn’t be eavesdropping but for some reason, he had this uncontrollable desire to know what they were talking about.

Before he could lean in closer and make out what they were saying Bo Ailun sprung up out of nowhere like a ghost and called out, "Young ma-," but his mouth was suddenly covered and Luo Muchen peered through the window to see if they had heard him. The pair remained lying down like they heard nothing.

Luo Muchen dragged Bo Ailun away and when they were far enough he said, "Find me Xiao Fen. We need to have a serious talk," he said and Bo Ailun nodded his head before turning to find her. Luo Muchen looked back at the bedroom window for a moment before turning to leave. He wanted to say something but he felt like it would only make things harder for Qie Xieling. It would give Qie Xieling unnecessary hope.

Luo Muchen sat in his study, his eyes closed in deep meditation. A dark cloud swirled above him as he struggled to contain his anger. Betrayal was something he couldn’t tolerate, not in his position of power and influence. In the Lee family he was surrounded by vipers thus the people he kept close to him had to be loyal to a fault. He had gained the loyalty of half of the Lee family disciples because he had fought alongside them destroying bandits. As for Bo Ailun, his loyalty came naturally and he was certain he would never betray him. It was only this woman who would dare betray him. She dared to drug him and even accuse someone else of batting a s eye. She lied so well that ordinary people would believe her.

Xiao Fen was fully aware of what waited for her. She bit her lower lip bloody her eyes swollen and her cheeks flushed. She looked like a wounded puppy with the power to arouse anyone’s protective instincts.

Trembling with fear, she entered the study and called out, "Young-young Master Luo." But her voice went unheard as the tension in the air grew thicker. She tried to explain, her voice quivering, but Luo Muchen raised his hand, silencing her with a stern gesture.

Minutes passed like an eternity, and finally, he broke the silence. He called Bo Ailun who was standing nearby. "Yes young master," he replied as he bowed his head. Luo Muchen kept his eyes closed and asked,

"What is the punishment for betraying one’s master?" His voice was cold and devoid of mercy.

Bo Ailun, understanding the gravity of the situation, replied, "Fifty lashes and banishment, Young Master."

"Proceed," he said and Xiao Fen’s eyes widened with terror as she begged for mercy, her voice filled with desperation. But her pleas fell on deaf ears as she was dragged out into the courtyard, where punishment awaited her.

Luo Muchen his face impassive, commanded, "Reduce it to twenty lashes, and then banish her from my presence."

The courtyard was filled with haunting cries of pain as the sound of flesh being struck by a thick board echoed through the air. Xiao Fen’s agonised screams pierced the stillness of the moment, a painful reminder of the consequences of her betrayal. Her cries were so loud that they reached across the courtyard where Qie Xieling was.

In that instant Luo Muchen’s gaze remained fixed, his heart hardened by the act of betrayal. The dark cloud above him seemed to mirror the storm brewing within his soul, as the echoes of Xiao Fen’s cries filled the courtyard. While Xiao Fen was wailing Luo Muchen beckoned Bo Ailun over. Bo Ailun let someone take over him and walked over. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

"Yes, young master," he said and Luo Muchen pulled a paper with a list of items. There was valuable jewellery and expensive pieces written on the paper.

"Gather all these things," he said and Bo Ailun was a little surprised.

"Young master what are you... this is a third of your treasury," he said the shock on his face evident. Luo Muchen waved him away. This was his parting packaging to Qie Xieling. He didn’t know what Qie Xieling had been through with the Bi family and what sort of threats they used to make him replace Bi Yu as his bride. He wanted to compensate him before letting him go thus he had no problem with parting with a third of his wealth.
