Chapter 444: Qie Xieling’s boyfriend

Before Bo Ailun knew what hit him the bride disappeared into the forest. "Damn it," he swore as he swung his sword slicing the incoming arrow in two.

"Hold the fort!" yelled Bo Ailun and the soldiers reacted swiftly, drawing their weapons and engaging in combat with the unseen enemy. Bo Ailun ran after their young master’s bride as the battlefield erupted with clashing steel, shouts, and cries.

Qie Xieling ignored the noise behind him as he ran. His eyes darted, searching for an escape route. When he heard the thunderous sound of a waterfall he ran in that direction.

With his trembling hands, he gripped the overwhelming weight of his bridal dress. It billowed behind him like a crimson ocean, hindering his progress at every step. The shoes he was wearing made it even worse so he kicked them off along the way. Barefoot and dishevelled, he dashed towards the rushing waters. Suddenly arrows were shot in his direction. They cut through the air with a whistle and shot through the tree trunks, tree roots and the ground he was stepping on. Under the Assassin’s relentless pursuit, he was more than sure that he was the target.

He caught in his peripheral vision, a shadow darting among the trees getting closer and closer to him. The shadow leapt out of the tree and lunged towards him but he took an abrupt sharp turn and ran in the other direction.

Panic gnawed at his heart as he realized that the shadow was hot on his trail. He could practically feel the man’s malicious intent, pressing into his very being.

Driven by sheer desperation his pounding footsteps echoed through the forest as he weaved between trees, ducking beneath low-hanging branches. His breath came in ragged gasps as he called out to Jolie. ’You better do something. If I die here I will haunt you in the afterlife,’ he said and Jolie rolled her eyes wherever she was.

’Have you ever thought of defending yourself?’ she asked and he finally realised. This character had to have some form of fighting skill, right? Any man who could give birth should have some form of superhero skills as a reward. The universe couldn’t be that cruel.

The assassin’s footsteps grew louder, and closer so he took a sharp turn and as the shadowy figure followed him he threw a punch at him. To his surprise, his wrist was caught with ease.

Qie Xieling, "..."

’Jolie you liar. I don’t have any superpowers!’ he exclaimed internally and Jolie shook her head. Why did it seem like his IQ had dropped drastically ever since he stepped into this world? Qie Xieling smiled nervously a smile that caught the man’s gaze when the cool breeze blew past his red veil.

The man shook his head having realised that he had been drawn in by that mesmerising smile. His face contorted. Just as Bi Yu stated, this ger was a vixen who deserved to die. His strong grip that had just loosened just now tightened and he yanked Qie Xieling back with a vicious force.

Qie Xieling crashed onto the ground, his body jolting with pain. Groaning, he struggled to rise, his senses heightened by the adrenaline coursing through his veins.

As he pushed himself up, he felt something strapped to his thigh and concealed beneath the flowing fabric of his dress. A mischievous glint sparkled in his eyes as he realised that he had a way out. With a swift motion, he pulled up his dress, revealing a hidden dagger strapped to his leg. The assassin’s gaze flickered momentarily. What kind of ger was this? Why would he just pull up his dress like that with no shame?

Seizing the element of surprise, Qie Xieling lashed out, sweeping his dagger low and fast, aiming for the assassin’s legs. The swift strike connected, sending the assassin crashing to the ground with a grunt of pain. Straddling his fallen foe, Qie Xieling held the dagger menacingly close to the man’s eye, his face a mask of determination.

The assassin, caught off guard by Qie Xieling’s strength and resourcefulness, attempted to block the dagger with his forearm. But Qie Xieling was prepared, drawing another dagger from his other thigh. With a swift motion, he stabbed the assassin’s leg, eliciting a guttural cry of agony.

The forest seemed to hold its breath as the clash of steel against flesh reverberated through the dense trees. Yet, amidst the chaos, a voice called out Qie Xieling’s name, piercing through the tumultuous night. With a powerful blow, he punched the assassin’s face knocking him out.

"Lin Lin!" called out the voice again and Qie Xieling’s brow furrowed.

He silently crawled off the assassin and continued running through the tangled undergrowth.

He soon emerged out of the forest and at the edge of a waterfall.

The moonlight bathed the dense forest with an ethereal glow as his heart pounded in his chest. His breath came in ragged gasps as he approached the edge of the thundering waterfall, his only means of escape.

As he hesitated, peering over the precipice a figure emerged from the shadows, clad in black with only their eyes and hair visible. A delicate black veil obscured the stranger’s face, leaving only a glimpse of piercing eyes. He looked at the passed-out assassin and slit his throat before following the trail looking for Qie Xieling.

The thunderous roar of the water was like the sound of music to Qie Xieling’s ears as he looked down judging the distance. ’Jolie what are my chances of survival if I jump?’ he asked and Jolie replied,

’A hundred per cent. Jump.’ Qie Xieling exhaled deeply before taking a step back when Jolie continued, ’Though you might break a limb or two.’

Qie Xieling, ’...’

That couldn’t be as bad as what he saw in the hospital in the second world. That poor woman pushed a soccer ball out of that small hole. It was terrifying just thinking of it.

He took a step forward ready to jump when an arm snaked around his body, pulling him away from the treacherous edge. A voice, gentle yet filled with determination, whispered in his ear, "Don’t jump... Don’t kill yourself. I am here."

Qie Xieling, ’...’

’Who the fuck said I was going to kill myself,’ he said internally and Jolie had already taken out the popcorn to watch the drama because that man right there was not Luo Muchen.

’How interesting. It seems you have a boyfriend in this world,’ said Jolie and Qie Xieling’s lips twitched.
