Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 439: Spending daddy’s money
Qie Xieling sat in the sleek hovercar, his gaze fixed on the mesmerizing expanse of the cityscape stretching out before him. The sun cast a warm, golden glow, painting the towering skyscrapers in hues of orange and pink giving it a dreamy romantic feel. His thoughts drifted consumed by matters of the heart.
It wasn’t that Lee Ya had gotten to him but that he was thinking of when they got out of the game. If Jolie was right, his parents should have gotten to him by now and they could finally be free of these games but what would happen to their relationship? Qie Xieling wasn’t ready for reality thus he was a little depressed.
As the hovercar glided through the sky, Qie Xieling’s attention was drawn to the approaching sky commercial utopia, a place reserved exclusively for the nobles. The normally bustling shopping district had been cleared, its streets devoid of crowds and activity. It was a precautionary measure, a safeguard to protect Qie Xieling. There were people after all who didn’t like him and still wanted him dead.
The hover car smoothly touched down, and he stepped out onto the pristine pavement. The silence of the deserted utopia amplified the weight of his thoughts. Qie Xieling decided to distract himself by shopping until the sun went down. It was time to spend his boyfriend’s money.
Bo Ailun followed behind him thinking that Qie Xieling wasn’t going to spend much. Luo Muchen had said that his account had no limits and Qie Xieling could buy whatever he wanted. Given that he was a guy Bo Ailun actually thought it was pointless.
Qie Xieling would probably buy a few things and head home but boy was he wrong. Qie Xieling was really good at spending money. If he weren’t a retired soldier Bo Ailun would have thought his profession was shopping.
Qie Xieling’s first stop was a high-end boutique. The door slid open, revealing a tastefully decorated interior, a stark contrast to the deserted streets outside. He stepped inside, the hushed atmosphere enveloping him as if the world had fallen into a dreamlike state.
He began picking clothes and trying them on while the attendants pretended like they didn’t know his past. They praised every outfit he tried on like they had been promised a bonus if they pleased Qie Xieling. Qie Xieling didn’t only pick things for himself. He wasn’t that selfish. He also picked clothes for Luo Muchen and most of the time they matched with outfits perfect for couples. From clothes he bought shoes and each time his account was scanned Bo Ailun felt an ache on his tummy.
By the time they left that boutique, the guards were carrying a lot of shopping bags. Bo Ailun caught up with him and said, "So are we going back now?"
Qie Xieling chuckled softly before saying, "Oh my poor child. This is only the beginning."
Bo Ailun, "..."
"To the jewellery store. I want jewels for my sweetheart," he said before striding towards the most expensive looking one. Qie Xieling wasn’t that much of a shopaholic in reality but he wanted to spoil himself for once. He wanted to be a little selfish. His eyes sparkled when his gaze fell on the exquisite jewellery.
As he ran his fingers delicately over a shimmering necklace, he felt a surge of excitement. "I want that one, that one and that one," he said and the manager was more than happy to pack it up for the generous customer.
Bo Ailun couldn’t help but ask, "Why?" these were obviously women’s necklaces so why on earth would he... unless... "Are you planning on cross-dressing again?" he asked and Qie Xieling laughed while pushing him away.
"No, I am spoiling the most important woman in my life now," he said before muttering under his breath, "Don’t let my nana and grandma hear that. They will kill me."
"What?" asked Bo Ailun and Qie Xieling shook his head.
"It’s nothing," he said but Jolie was already messing with him.
’I am going to snitch. I bet your nana will beat your ass,’ she said and Qie Xieling gritted his teeth before saying,
’Okay, then I can just return the necklace I bought for you. I bought a red one too. Isn’t that one of your favourite colours?’
Jolie’s tune changed really fast. ’Uh, I was wrong. I was wrong. I want it. I like pretty things,’ she said and Qie Xieling smiled slightly while staring at an exquisite watch suitable for the new king.
"Can I get that engraved?" he asked. The manager nodded his head vigorously. He would even get down on his knees and polish his shoes at this point. Qie Xieling didn’t disappoint.
"Yes sir, What would you like to be engraved on it?" he asked thinking that he would say something cute like ’love you forever’ or their initials but Qie Xieling said,
"Lin Lin’s man. Back off."
Bo Ailun, "..."
The manager, "..."
"Are you serious?" asked Bo Ailun in disbelief.
"I will be back for it," he said and the manager nodded his head. Just Qie Xieling was about up leave he politely called out. "Sir, as a special for spending so much we have twin bracelets," he said opening a velvet box.
Qie Xieling would never shy away from a good deal. He took the braided bracelet and pushed the other one to Bo Ailun.
"Huh?" he exclaimed seeming quite confused.
"It’s a friendship bracelet. I forgive you for treating me badly before so take it," he said and Bo Ailun hesitated. He didn’t want to take it but he felt like Qie Xieling would hold a grudge.
"Thank you," he said as he took it. Once he put it on Bo Ailun was so happy you would think that Qie Xieling had asked him to marry him.
"Friends forever," said Qie Xieling staring at the bracelet. "Now I need to get a tattoo. Maybe I should get one on my thigh. Oh, and we have to go to a lingerie store you know what I mean," he said before winking.
Bo Ailun, "..."
