Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 429: The rescue
When Leong Jinn started deactivating the system in a drunken haze he spotted that the camera that he had put on the Bobcat was off somehow. He bit his lower lip his dazed eyes turning cold. ๐ณ๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฏ๐๐จ๐๐๐น.๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ
The once impenetrable fortress of his underground lair had been breached. Panic surged through his veins, sending a shiver down his spine. How had this happened? His mind raced to find answers, but his first priority was to get out.
"Shit shit shit!" he cursed when he saw the group of people walking in the shadows in the forest and from the looks of it that was more than five minutes ago.
"You fucking think you can one-up me? Hahaha...," he laughed maniacally as his finger clanked away on the keyboard. He pressed the enter key after the string of code was on his screen.
The flickering lights in the lair dimmed briefly, reflecting the darkness that consumed Leong Jinnโs soul. A sinister smirk stretched across his face as he infiltrated Wen Qinxiโs system, relishing in the knowledge that he had gained the upper hand. He knew this would strike a nerve in his good masterโs heart, a twisted revenge for the transgressions that had fueled their rivalry. With a chilling sense of satisfaction, Leong Jinn sent a disturbing message to Wen Qinxi. It was a decapitated chibi drawing of Qie Xieling, accompanied by the haunting acronym "KO."
He swiftly turned his attention to the surveillance cameras scattered throughout his lair. The images showed the intruders drawing near, their determined footsteps echoing through the empty corridors. Time was running out, and he couldnโt afford to be captured. He moved with agility, his footsteps silent as he approached the hidden panel on the floor. With a swift motion, he opened it, revealing a dark passageway leading into the depths of the earth.
Descending into the tunnels, Leong Jinnโs mind raced with thoughts of escape. The damp air clung to his skin as he sprinted through the labyrinthine passages, his heart pounding in his chest.
Meanwhile, Wen Qinxiโs hands trembled when he saw the cute little chibi with fluffy brown hair. "He knows you are there. You have to hurry," he said and the team pressed forward making sure not to miss any room. At the far end of the dark tunnel, they found a room that was secured by a sophisticated biometric scanner. With skilful precision, Wen Qinxi swiftly bypassed the system, and with a click, the door swung open.
As they pushed the door open, a series of beeping sounds filled the air. The sight that greeted them was alarming. The game pods had gone haywire.
Luo Shihโs heart sank as she noticed her unconscious son trapped inside one of the game pods. His face was turning a dangerous shade of purple, a clear sign of oxygen deprivation. Panic gripped her trembling body as she desperately tried to open the pod, her motherly instincts overpowering her.
Meanwhile, Hei Xiwen quickly accessed the computer system in the room. His eyes scanned the screen, revealing a program that seemed to be deactivating the game pods. Hope flickered in his gaze as he realised there might be a way to get all the kids out.
With urgency in his voice, Qie Ranzhe gasped out the situation to Wen Qinxi while assessing Qie Xielingโs condition. "They are all turning purple. We need to break the glass," he said but Wen Qinxi knew that was a terrible idea. It was the same as when Qie Ranzhe was in the gaming pod. It would not end well forcibly ending the pre-planned programme.
He fully understood the gravity of the situation hence he swiftly responded, "Donโt touch anything!"
Qie Ranzhe relayed the information to a panicking Luo Shih. "Donโt touch anything," he said before removing Hei Xiwenโs hands on the keyboard.
"But my son is fucking dying," yelled Luo Shih on the verge of losing her mind.
"Xi Xi knows what he is doing. If you take them out like this they will be in a vegetative state... forever," he said and that alone quickly calmed her.
"Find out how he escaped," said Qie Ranzhe to the mercenaries and they hurriedly looked around the room but there were no windows or other doors apart from the entrance. They soon realised the trap door behind the game pods and one by one they climbed down the ladder and followed the tunnel.
In that tense moment, the three people stood frozen waiting for Wen Qinxi to fix it. It was extremely painful to watch the kidsโ faces turning a very dangerous shade of purple.
Time seemed to stretch as they waited for Wen Qinxi. After what seemed like an eternity the game pods stopped beeping and issuing warnings as they returned to a fully operational status. The colour slowly returned to the kidsโ faces as the system announced the health checks.
"Check for me if everything is operational on the screen," said Wen Qinxi and Qie Ranzhe walked over to check. Everything seemed fine. While he was reporting what he saw he heard a soft thud on the glass screen which drew everyoneโs attention. They all glanced at the gaming pod.
Qie Ranzhe rushed over and saw that Qie Xieling was barely conscious. "Lin Lin," he called out softly after his son called out for him but Qie Xieling soon fell unconscious again and Qie Ranzhe couldnโt help but panic.
"Xi Xi, what do I do? He... he is unconscious," he asked his voice tremulous.
"He will be fine. He just fell back inside the game. Just wait for me there," said Wen Qinxi before moving to the front of the van. He started the van raising dust as he stepped hard on the accelerator. He tore through the forest and in no time he was outside Leong Jinnโs lair.

Leong Jinn burst out of the tunnels, gasping for breath as he emerged into the open air. The sound of rushing water filled his ears, and he turned to see a magnificent waterfall cascading down into a crystalline pool. The beauty of the scene was lost on him as he swiftly scanned the area for his pre-planned escape.
His eyes fell upon a dense thicket of brush nearby. With a surge of adrenaline, he pushed through the branches, revealing a concealed four-wheeler hidden beneath the natural camouflage. Leong Jinn wasted no time, switching on the engine and feeling the powerful vibrations beneath him. As he revved the machine, he couldnโt help but smile evilly
