Chapter 386: Angry Lin Lin

Luo Muchen glared at her and said, "Stop wasting my time and tell me what you really want."

Valria, however, seemed undeterred by his rudeness. She leaned forward, her voice tinged with a deceptive sweetness as she spoke.

"Tell me, Captain, what are you doing with Qie Xieling? I know you despise him but I also know... you freed him before. Why? Your identity clearly makes you the person who should hate him the most... but here you are running around with him. Why?" Her eyes glimmered with a mix of mischief and curiosity.

Luo Muchen’s lips curled into a sardonic smile, his dark eyes finally meeting Valria’s. "Have I been too generous to you all these years that you forgot your place?"

Valria, "..."

"You seem to forget that the only reason this filthy den for criminals is still alive is because I allow it. Your power is a result of me eliminating your rivals over the years. Know your place Valria and don’t bite the hand that feeds you," he said and she clenched her fist underneath the table her sharp nails digging into her palms.

She knew he was right but that didn’t stop her from being willful. She was so desperate to be with him that it was easy to forget her place. Her desperation was so intense that she was more than willing to push the boundaries.

"You do realise that with one call I can end Qie Xieling’s life and whatever plan you have will be foiled," she said before gulping down an entire glass of white wine.

Luo Muchen sneered before saying, "Go ahead call them," his voice domineering and spine-chilling. Valria’s brows creased as she called her most trusted henchman but after several attempts, he didn’t pick up.

"See... they don’t call him psycho Qie for no reason... Now get me that bloody dwarf while I am still generous," he commanded and Valria was frozen in shock.

What did Qie Xieling actually do? When he stepped out of the room he headed straight for the exit his intention to leave. But the men who worked for Valria knew that letting him go wasn’t an option.

Unable to control his temper Qie Xieling clenched his jaw to the point of breaking. His father’s advice was thrown out of the window and he channelled his rage just like his dad. Burning with fury he confronted the henchmen who stood in his way, blocking his path.

The air crackled with tension, his heart pounding in his chest. With a sudden surge of power, he lunged forward, his fingers curling around the throat of the nearest henchman.

The henchman’s eyes widened in fear as Qie Xieling slammed him against the wall, the impact reverberating through the room. It was like facing off with a demon that was attempting to pull him down to hell.

The second henchman swiftly seized him from behind, locking him in a bone-crushing chokehold. Qie Xieling’s vision blurred as his oxygen supply diminished, his body weakening under the relentless pressure.

Summoning every ounce of strength and fueled by an overwhelming rage, he fought back with a ferocity he didn’t know he possessed. With a primal roar, he twisted his body, using his momentum to throw off the second henchman’s grip. Gasping for air, Qie Xieling’s eyes narrowed with determination, his movements becoming a blur of lightning-fast strikes.

He focused his anger into each blow, retaliating against the henchmen who dared to stand in his way. The first henchman, disoriented from the impact against the wall, stumbled forward, only to receive a series of punishing kicks to his abdomen. Qie Xieling’s strikes were swift and merciless, fueled by a madness that consumed him, pushing him beyond his limits.

Adrenaline surged through his veins as the two henchmen crumpled to the ground, defeated. Bloodied and battered, he clutched his throbbing abdomen, his breaths ragged and laboured. But he had no time to dwell on the pain. A laser gun from one of the henchmen caught his attention.

With a grim determination, he staggered toward the weapon, his fingers closing around its cold, metallic grip. He knew he needed it to leave Valria’s estate. Steadying himself, he limped toward the exit, prepared for another wave of attacks from Valria’s forces.

To his astonishment his crew mates had arrived, their spacecraft looming in the sky, guns trained on Valria’s estate. A surge of relief washed over him, mingling with the lingering fury that still burned within. He stepped forward, his gaze fixed on the spacecraft raising dust and leaves.

As he walked past the spacecraft, clutching the laser gun tightly, Bo Ailun rushed out of the spacecraft and asked, "Where are you going?"

Qie Xieling ignored him and stumbled out of the estate. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with anyone. He needed to calm down first.

Bo Ailun, "..."

He had no idea what happened in that estate but it couldn’t be anything good based on Qie Xieling’s dishevelled state.

Qie Xieling stumbled out of Valria’s estate, his face bruised and bloodied, his clothes torn and dishevelled. Clutching his abdomen in pain, he fought against the throbbing ache that resonated through his body. With a determined grimace, he made his way down the dimly lit street, his steps unsteady yet resolute. He could hear Bo Ailun calling his name but he acted like he was deaf.

Using his communicator, Qie Xieling hailed a taxi, his hand trembling slightly. The digital display on his device flashed, confirming his request as a cab approached, its headlights painting the pavement in a hazy glow.

Slumping into the backseat, Qie Xieling’ winced as the movements aggravated his injuries. The holographic driver generated by the AI driving the car glanced at him through the rearview mirror, concern etched on his face. "Where to, buddy?" he asked, his voice no different from a human’s.

Qie Xieling’s voice, filled with weariness, replied, "Just take me to the nearest bar, please." He wanted to drown his sorrows in solitude, to find solace in the bottom of a glass. He yearned for a momentary escape from the harsh realities of his life.

As the taxi navigated through the city streets, he stared out of the window, lost in his thoughts. The passing buildings blended into a blur, mirroring the whirlwind of emotions raging inside him. He couldn’t help but replay the events just now. He couldn’t stand seeing Luo Muchen right now. Anger and resentment simmered beneath the surface, but they were overshadowed by a profound sense of defeat. Why was loving someone so hard?
