Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 94 - 81: No one messes with my food
Unfortunately her tranquility was short-lived, as she was abruptly jolted awake by a loud banging at her door. Groaning, she rubbed her eyes and sat up.
"What is it now?" Aurianna grumbled, her voice laced with irritation.
A feminine voice came from the other side of the door, her tone calm, "Princess it’s time for you to dress up for the day."
________
"Princess, this..." a maid stammered as she and the group of maids entered the chambers and walked into the princess’s room and witnessed the disaster before them. The ground and the walls were cracked and the expensive vases and decor were shattered into pieces, making the once luxurious room a mess.
’I remember hearing the princess rampage at night, but I didn’t think it was this bad,’ Yui thought and gulped nervously. Watching the walls and noticing it was all done by one little girl sent shivers down her spine.
’Yes it’s me Yui,’ her eyes reflecting innocence. ’That one maid from a few chaps back, wondering how I survived this long with such a crazy princess? To be honest, it was quite easy, as long as I did what she told me I never got in trouble and I always got a nice raise in my salary for being one of the longest maids to stay here (。•̀ᴗ-)✧.’ Yui nodded solemnly, ’If you really pretend the princess’s poisonous words are good words, it would be much easier to adore her as the angel she looks like. Well, I did wish she acted like an angel, but she acts more like a devil,’ Yui grunted.
’But the princess is so cute!!’ Yui squealed inwardly.
"Yui, the princess is glaring at you," one of the maids whispered urgently to Yui, while Yui reflexively did a quick backbend, touching the carpet behind her with her head, her hands on her cheeks as she seemed to be lost in thought. Her fellow maids looked at her nervously, unsure if this was going to make the situation any better, then back at Aurianna who was approaching towards Yui who was still mischievously grinning.
"Oi, stop being in your own little world and come back to reality!" she barked, her voice echoing off the walls. "Or did you forget you were in my room!?"
Yui winced as Aurianna delivered a swift kick to her leg, snapping her out of her fantasies and sending her tumbling to the ground. As she struggled to get back up, Yui couldn’t help but feel a twinge of regret. Maybe, just perhaps, being a little more present at the moment would have saved her from the princess’s wrath.
’Despite her kicking me, I don’t feel angry one bit. This feels nice. Kyaaaa. I’ve always been fascinated by the princess’s otherworldly grace, her porcelain white skin and delicate features. Even the frown on her face makes her so cute!!’ Yui thought, practically swooning.
Aurianna’s voice cut through the air like a sharpened sword, cold and unforgiving. "Did you forget where you were, Yui?" she snarled, her eyes blazing with a fiery intensity. "This is my room, and you will not be daydreaming on my watch. You should really fix that strange behavior of yours."
Yui felt a shiver run down her spine at the princess’s words, but she couldn’t resist cracking a joke. "Well, your highness, it’s hard not to daydream when I’m surrounded by such royal splendor, and standing before a beautiful princess," she quipped, winking at the other maids who nervously sighed.
Aurianna’s frown deepened, clearly not amused by Yui’s jest. "Then get up and stand in line!" she barked, her voice ringing out like a gong. Yui immediately straightened up and fell in line with the other maids, struggling to stifle a giggle.
Yui’s eyes sparkled with an infectious enthusiasm as she spoke to herself. ’You see, you all, the princess is just a kind soul looking out for me and not wanting me to be embarrassed by the maids,’ she said, beaming with pride.
Meanwhile, Aurianna couldn’t help but grumble to herself about her latest annoyance. ’Ugh, why must she be the one to serve me today? She’s so annoying,’ she thought, rubbing her temples. ’And the way she looks at me is creepy, but I feel no hostility.’
Yui’s mind drifted off to thoughts of the princess. ’Ahh, the princess is looking at me! She’s so adorable, and I want to hug her so bad!’ she exclaimed excitedly, her voice trailing off. ’But I know she’ll probably chop off my head,’ she added, her tone sinking.
The group of maids stood in stunned silence as they gazed upon the destruction that lay before them. The once opulent room, adorned with priceless decor and furnishings, now lay in ruins. Cracks ran along the walls and floor, and shattered vases and trinkets littered the ground.
One of the maids who had spoken earlier, her voice trembling with fear, turned to the princess and said, "Princess, this...this is truly a disaster. How did this happen?"
As Yui got a closer look at Aurianna , she couldn’t help but notice something strange. "Is it me, or does the princess seem taller?" she whispered to her fellow maids who nodded in agreement.
Aurianna stood amidst the wreckage, her expression cold and unreadable. She gazed at her surroundings with a mixture of detachment and dissatisfaction.
"Just clean it up, that’s your job, isn’t it?" Aurianna commanded, and the maids nodded as they began to tidy up the area. One maid picked up the shards of glass, while another lifted up the shattered walls with ease.
"Make this room spotless," Aurianna spat out, her lip curling in a sneer. "And be quick about it. I’m awaiting my bath."
The maids nodded hastily, eager to please the princess and avoid her wrath. "Yes princess, we’ll immediately make this room spik and span!" The said in unison and Aurianna nodded.
"Good. I am awaiting my bath," she said, flipping her hair in a gesture of arrogance. The maids hurriedly escorted her out of the room, their eyes downcast and their movements careful and measured.
"Let’s use your spare room then, princess," a maid suggested and Aurianna nodded in agreement as they walked off.
____________
The atmosphere in the grand hall was oppressive. Aurianna sat at the head of the table, surrounded by her courtiers and servants. Her delicate features contorted with disgust as she examined the food on her plate. Her spoon frozen in mid-air as she looked down at the brown soup on her plate with a disgusted expression. The smell alone was enough to make her nose twitch and her face scrunch up in revulsion. As she inhaled, veins began to bulge on her forehead, betraying the rage building inside her.
"What is this?" she demanded, her voice laced with disgust. She looked up at the woman, Era, who stood before her with a wicked grin.
"Why, it’s your breakfast, princess," Era replied, her tone dripping with malice, a wicked smirk playing on her lips.
Aurianna’s eyes narrowed, and she could feel the anger building within her. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but the veins on her face began to bulge and her nostrils flared.
"This decayed soup? Are you trying to piss me off?" she snarled, her voice echoing through the room. Era’s confident expression faltered for a moment, but she quickly regained her composure.
"How dare you serve me this rotten filth!" She slammed her spoon down on the table, the force of her voice causing the very foundation of the room to tremble. "Have you no respect for your princess?!" she thundered, her voice echoing through the halls.
But Era was only slightly cowed by her outburst and spoke back. "Princess, you need to learn some respect," she said, her words laced with a cocky, insolent tone. Aurianna’s grip on her fork tightened hearing her words, and she twisted it in anger.
"As you can see, we don’t have enough funds to buy you food," Era continued, her arrogance fueling Aurianna’s growing rage.
"Do you take me for an idiot?" she seethed, her eyes blazing with fury. Era gulped nervously, her bravado faltering under her intense gaze.
"Umm, no," Era blubbered. Aurianna’s eyes darkened with anger, her grip on the fork tightening more until it broke in her hand. The room grew silent as Era took a step back, her arrogance replaced with fear as she felt shills on her back, staring at Aurianna’s blue eyes.
"You’re the new head maid, right?" Aurianna asked coldly, her voice dripping with disdain. Era nodded with pride.
"Yes." She responded.
"Then let’s go over this again. Why am I being served this slop instead of my mountain of delicacies?" Aurianna demanded with a smile, her anger growing by the second as more veins bulged on her face.
"Like I said, we don’t have enough funds for you to be eating such lavish meals. It’s a waste of money. You don’t finish all in the end." Era said arrogantly her arms crossed.
Aurianna’s eyes glowed with a dark intensity. The air grew thick with horrible pressure as her aura flared around the room, making it hard for most of the servants to breathe. A stronger sense of fear could be felt as they trembled under Aurianna’s aura, even Era.
"There is a rule in my palace that no one may ever break, regardless of their status," she declared, ignoring Era’s earlier words. "And that rule is this: if anyone messes with my food, I will kill them!" Her words were laced with a dark promise, the kind of threat that left no room for negotiation.
Aurianna’s gaze swept over the room, her eyes icy with malice. No one dared to meet her gaze, and they all looked down, their bodies trembling in fear.
Turning her attention to Era, Aurianna’s smirk was filled with a cruel satisfaction. "Do you think I am some dumb child who doesn’t know the value of money?" she taunted. "I’m young but I’m certainly not stupid. My palace is sent 500,000 gold coins every month, to pay for expenses and salaries of the people who work here, as well as my personal expenses. And yet, you, bitch, want to monopolize all that money for yourself and give me such a lame excuse? Do you think I was born yesterday?" Aurianna’s hand slammed down on the table, shattering it into pieces and sending shards of marble flying in all directions.
