Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 90 - 77: Past Memories 2
_____________
"Big brother Neil we can’t do this anymore, we’re so tired!" The wails of despair echoed through the dimly lit room, as the group of eight children huddled together, their delicate bodies trembling with exhaustion and fear, while their clothes were covered in soot.
Neil watched over them with tearful eyes, his heart ached because he knew their pain as well. He reached out with a gentle finger to pat their tousled heads, his own hand shaking with emotion. With a deep sigh, he rose to his feet, his eyes fixated on the bleak landscape beyond the window. The once peaceful scifi land full of knowledge and happiness, was now a flaming base as everyone in the world worked tirelessly to manufacture weapons of all kinds and sizes.
The Regals, the tyrannical overlords of this apocalyptic world, loomed above them, their twisted faces contorted into cruel sneers. They cracked their whips with glee, meting out brutal punishments to the gems for every perceived mistake.
Neil balled his fists, the anger and determination coursing through his veins, as he strode back to his seat. His hands glowed and immediately a scifi weapon was procured before him. The scifi weapon glimmered with a sinister aura, its sleek design belying the deadly power it held.
He immediately handed it to the children who carried it over their heads.
"We are going to escape," Neil communicated to the children’s minds, his voice heavy with determination. The children’s eyes widened with wonder and hope as they gazed at him.
"Spread the word, we are escaping tonight under our master, Gray Diamond’s order," Neil whispered, his lips curling into a wry smile. The children nodded, a newfound sense of purpose filling their hearts as they ran off with the weapon, determined to spread the word.

"Evacuate the gems! We must protect them at all costs!" Gray Diamond’s voice thundered through the air, as the precious gems dashed behind him, fleeing into the safety of several colossal spaceships that awaited them before a foreboding gray portal.
Gray Diamond’s hair, the same hue as a rare gray gem, shimmered in the light, while his eyes blazed with a fury that could not be contained. He raised his hands high above his head, beckoning the approaching horde of Regals with a single gesture.
In an instant, the Regals froze in place, stunned by the sight of several floating clocks that suddenly appeared around them, causing them to panic. Gray Diamond flicked his fingers, and several enormous books materialized in the sky, glowing with an eerie light.
"Perish!" Gray Diamond roared, and with a wave of his hand, the books sprang open, unleashing mighty golems that towered over the Basalts in size and strength. These golems were replicas of Gray Diamond himself, and their eyes glinted with a cold, deadly determination.
The golems grasped pens and began furiously scribbling in the books, weaving intricate symbols and runes that pulsed with otherworldly power. With a fierce swipe of their mighty hands, the golems unleashed devastating explosions that wiped out some of the Regals, but most still stood, their dark hearts filled with malice and hatred as they launched themselves at the golems in a frenzied assault.
The golems held their ground, defending the precious gems below with all manner of weapons at their disposal, pushing back against the Regals’ relentless assault. The air was thick with the sounds of war, the clash of weapons, and the screams of the dying, as Gray Diamond stood firm in the midst of it all, his body enveloped by an impenetrable aura of energy.
"Reconstruction!" Hematite’s voice boomed out, as several orbs of brilliant light hurtled towards the Regals, striking their bodies and weapons. The moment the orbs made contact, the Regals’ bodies turned into a gray light, and they transformed into tiny dolls, which the other fighters sliced into pieces with ruthless efficiency.
"I will protect my master at all costs, even if it means fighting an army of Regals!" Neil’s voice echoed through the land as he sprinted towards the sky, facing off against a towering Tier 2 Regal with two hoops in place of where its head should be.
"Bring it on, tier 2 Regal!" Neil snarled, slashing his axe with ferocious speed. But the colossal Regal was every bit as skilled as Neil, blocking his every move with its eight arms, each wielding a sword. Its rainbow wings fluttered in the air, and the rainbow hoop on its head morphed into deadly spikes, the rainbow colors blazing with a furious intensity. Neil hissed in frustration as he launched a flurry of swings at the Regal, but each one was expertly parried.
"Why? You’re angry now?" he spat at the Regal, his voice laced with fury. "You bastards started all of this and we gray gems won’t go down without a fight," Neil grinned as he swung his axe hard and the Regal blocked his attack again. The force of their clash was so powerful that the very earth shook beneath them. Mountains crumbled at a distance and the sky turned dark as they continued their brutal fight.
"All Basalts!" Neil yelled his voice being communicated into the minds of his fellow warriors. "We fight for our freedom, while the Gray Moonstones evacuate the gems, let’s protect them all, even if it costs us our lives. We’re the only combatants they have!" Neil yelled and all the Basalts around the world roared in agreement, ready to give everything they had to defend their home. They fought fiercely, using the weapons they once built for the Regals against them. They were outnumbered, but they fought with determination and a will to survive.
The Gray Moonstones moved swiftly around the land, teleporting the gems into the spaceships and helped them flee.
For days and nights, the battle raged on, the air thick with the sounds of swords clashing and screams of agony. The battle was brutal, with lives lost on both sides. The Basalts fought valiantly, but despite their best efforts, many lives were lost. Gray blood stained the earth and the once-beautiful landscape was now scarred with the marks of battle.
Neil struggled to open his eyes as gray blood streaked down his face. He looked up at the sky, where more Regals were approaching.
A content smile spread across Neil’s face as he surveyed the battlefield, knowing that he had saved most of his people. However, his triumph was short-lived as he saw the bodies of his fallen comrades lying around him. The Basalts had been impaled by rainbow-colored spears, their lifeblood dyeing the battlefield gray. The world was consumed by seas of flames that raged from all sides, and amidst all the chaos, Neil was the only Basalt standing.
Despite the carnage and destruction that surrounded him, Neil refused to lose hope. He walked towards the side of Hematite and Gray Diamond, his axe pointed at his enemy.
"Neil and Hematite, leave now," Gray Diamond said through gritted teeth, tears streaming down his face. "I have failed my people as a Diamond. If I had calculated well enough for the plan to be perfect, no lives would have been lost, but the plan had a loophole."
Neil was taken aback by his master’s expressive emotions. Gray Diamond was usually stoic, even in the face of sadness or anger. This was the first time Neil had seen him cry.
""But master, the knowledge in our libraries..." Hematite protested, but Gray Diamond cut her off with a raised hand.
"Don’t worry, your lives are the most important," Gray Diamond smiled as he patted both Neil and Hematite on their heads, causing them to tear up.
"Leave now!" Gray Diamond ordered, and Neil and Hematite nodded as they made their way to a nearby large ship. But Neil couldn’t help but notice Gray Diamond standing outside, his unwavering gaze fixed on the massive blasts heading his way.
"Master, why are you staying behind?!!" Hematite’s voice trembled with fear and desperation.
Gray Diamond’s eyes remained fixed on the distance, his expression resolute despite the tears glistening on his cheeks. "You guys should leave if they catch you I’ll never forgive myself," he said, his voice filled with sorrow.
"No you can’t, Master!!" Hematite yelled as she was about to jump off the ship but a strange force pulled her back into the ship and locked all the doors.
Hematite’s heart pounded with anguish as she tried to escape the clutches of the ship’s force that held her back. Her eyes widened with desperation as she watched her master, Gray Diamond, standing alone amidst the chaos, determined to face his fate head-on.
"Master, please stop and come with us!!" Neil and Hematite yelled in unison, tears streaming down their faces as the ship flew on its own at a very fast speed.
"Goodbye my gems," Gray Diamond whispered with a warm smile and flicked his fingers.
As the ship soared away, he lifted his hand and whispered an incantation that spread across the universe like wildfire. Clocks appeared all around, freezing the Regals and their attacks. With a flick of his fingers, he summoned a legion of gray statues, each one towering high above the worlds and holding an enormous book in its hands. The statues sprang up across the universe, standing tall and resolute like a last line of defense.
Once Neil and Hematite were far away, they witnessed a blinding flash engulfed everything, and a wave of destruction rippled through the cosmos like a violent supernova.
