Chapter 56: Chapter 43: Jagon

__________

Aurianna slowly opened her eyes and looked around the room to see no one there. She tried to get up, but she felt a severe ache all over her body and laid down again.

’I wonder why my body didn’t heal on the battlefield,’ Aurianna thought and stared at her feet to see that she was on a king-size bed with a pink covering on it. The room was illuminated by floating balls of white light and there were four small balls of fire that floated around Aurianna keeping her warm.

’Was it because of that woman?’ Aurianna thought as she slowly placed her right hand on her chest.

"Hah, what did I expect? There’s no gem there," Aurianna sneered to herself. "I just wonder who that woman was."

Aurianna closed her eyes as she thought about what happened after the war.

As they rode through the streets of the Kingdom, she could hear the cheers and praises of the people despite being in a semi-conscious state.

"Hail to King Girsal!"

"The Royal Family is so great!" 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Thank you for protecting us!"

"Long live King Girsal! Long live the Royal Family!" The people cheered happily as they waved at the Royal carriages.

Aurianna gritted her teeth so hard that it caused her to bleed. Aurianna slowly placed her aching hand on her mouth to see blood. She then licked the blood on her mouth and sighed.

"What’s wrong Aurianna?" Eva asked as she popped up and laid beside Aurianna.

"So you finally show up," Aurianna chuckled.

"I had some matters to investigate," Eva replied with an innocent smile, and Aurianna rolled her eyes.

"I see, why the people took my father’s side in the past," Aurianna blurted out as she raised her hand to try to touch the ball of fire, but it escaped from her grasp.

"How could I outshine the achievements he had done for this Kingdom? He had already manipulated the minds of the people to believe he’s a good king. And it’s true too. He cares about his people, and family, but what he loves most are power and his kingdom. He is literally a perfect king, but his hunger for power was his flaw. Furthermore, he had never done anything directly for the people to believe he was bad. It’s almost like..." Aurianna paused, not knowing what words to use. She placed her hand on her chest as she could feel a burning feeling. Aurianna could feel that she was about to cry, but she held it in.

’I would not cry!’ She thought to herself.

"Inhumanely smart?" Eva asked, continuing her sentence.

"Yes," Aurianna said and looked at Eva, "For him to be able to manipulate others to this extent, or he is just good at what he does. Even though he’s strong and enforces his rules, the people still love him. And in the past when Sandeph became a High Land he was praised more."

"There could be people who hated him," Eva added, and Aurianna nodded.

"There were, and they wanted to overthrow him, but they failed miserably and were killed."

"No subjects tried to betray him?" Eva asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Even if they wanted to, they couldn’t. If you look closely at all the Dukes, Knights, and other subjects, they have an emerald tattoo with five swords around it," Aurianna said.

"Oh."

"I figured out that the tattoo is one of King Girsal’s skills," Aurianna revealed, her face turning cold. "The emerald tattoo, maybe that’s what makes it impossible for his subjects to disobey him or go against him."

"You’re right. It’s a skill he uses, so no matter what, you can’t betray him. If you have the thought to betray him it would be immediately erased," Eva got up and sat on the bed.

"That’s bad, but something’s doesn’t add up," Aurianna stated as she pondered carefully, "In the past, some of his children were able to betray him. I wonder how that is possible?"

Eva shrugged, "They simply found a way to break out of the tattoo."

"So, can you neutralize the tattoo? Like it would still be there, but it wouldn’t work," Aurianna asked. She struggled as she slowly lifted herself up to a sitting position.

"Of course, I can!" Eva declared proudly placing her hands on her hips.

"I guess I’ll be counting on you then," Aurianna smiled, but Eva frowned before saying, "You shouldn’t always rely on me, what if I’m not there to protect you, or help?"

"I guess I would just do my best to figure out a solution on my own," Aurianna answered sheepishly as she scratched her head.

Eva looked at Aurianna with a satisfied smile and patted her on the head, "That is my Diamond."

"Well, I have got to go, Leila needs me," Eva stated, getting up before disappearing.

"Eva wait!!" Aurianna yelled, but there was no response. "I wanted some info on the lady I saw...," Aurianna said softly to herself.

"I wonder if Leila was also attacked by that strange woman," Aurianna wondered.

"Oh yes! I received some notifications, let me check how much I’ve grown," Aurianna’s eyes brightened, and the system screen appeared before her.

"Tch, those knights weren’t even worth that much exp. However, they did help increase my skill points," Aurianna mumbled and crossed her arms.

"I want to buy skills so bad," Aurianna cried inwardly as she felt like those skill points wanted her to spend them.

"No temptations Aurianna. You must consult Eva first!" Aurianna told herself and almost closed the screen, but something caught her eye.

Below her stats was the word ’inbox’ and Aurianna stared at it suspiciously before tapping on it.

{Hi Aurianna, I’m the god of war, Jagon. I just wanted to give you an extra gift, since your fight on the battlefield was quite extraordinary, especially with that knight golem. I look forward to seeing more of your battles (。•̀ᴗ-)✧ }

Aurianna stared at the message with a confused yet dumb expression, "I never knew gods were so casual. (・∀・)..."

She then looked below the message to see { 1000 magic coins in your inventory. Gifted by Jagon. }

"One thousand!!!" Aurianna gasped in shock.

"That amount is enough to run the kingdom for five years. This is truly suspicious," Aurianna placed her hand on her chin and squinted her eyes. "I’ll have to discuss this with Eva." Before Aurianna could continue exploring the message, the door to the room suddenly opened and a tall man walked in.

"I’m glad you’re okay, princess Aurianna Vanluad," a soft male voice boomed through the room as a man in pink robes walked in.

His brown hair is parted on one side and carefully combed back from his forehead. His eyes are bright blue, and his jaw is set with confidence.

At the edge of the door stood ten Knights in bright pink armor, and they watched Aurianna and the man closely.

"How long was I out for?" Aurianna asked.

"Just two hours," the man replied with a smile.

"Your body was in a severe condition and was able to heal all of your injuries," the man stated as he stood before Aurianna and smiled at her.

Aurianna glanced at him and saw a pink cross on his chest. She looked up at him before asking, "And who might you be?"

"I’m Hotron a priest of the church of beauty," Hotron stated proudly.

"Paige’s church, huh?" Aurianna said with a cold smile.

"Yes, you’re currently in the church, but since you are better, we can let a carriage escort you home."

"Is that so?" Aurianna muttered as she slowly tied to get off the bed.

Hotron then offered his hand, and she takes it, and he raised Aurianna gently as she floated a bit and landed on the ground.

"Hmm Princess, have you ever considered joining the church?" Hotron suggested looking at Aurianna with sparkly eyes.

"Not really," Aurianna refuted. ’Because it’s not time yet,’ she thought to herself. As she reached the door, a maid stopped her. She gently held Aurianna’s leg and placed on her feet a pair of wine shoes. Aurianna looked at her feet. ’I forgot I wasn’t wearing any shoes.’

"Why do you ask?" Aurianna looked at Hotron and asked, a bit surprised that he asked her such a question.

Hotron scratched his cheek, "Well I and the others watched the battle on the visual meimus, and we noticed you have an extraordinary amount of light magic so..." before Hotron could finish his words he was cut off by Aurianna.

"I’m not interested, but thanks for the offer," Aurianna smiled at him.

"That’s a pity indeed, just know that if you ever reconsider you’re always welcome here," Hotron smiled at her.

"Sure."

"Can I escort you to your carriage?" Hotron asked.

"Please do," Aurianna responded as she follows Hotron down the dimly lit corridor.

Aurianna looked around the church as she admired the infrastructure with a smile. Great marble pillars rise up around the building like giant trees in a forest. The walls are lined with beautiful stainless glass windows which allowed orange sunlight to pass through them.

Aurianna took in a deep breath and breath out, ’The air inside the church is cool and refreshing. Similar to how it was in my past life. Places of holy energy help strengthen the soul,’ Aurianna thought.

The halls were lit by floating little people made of light, that seemed to play around.

As they reached closer to the exist, Aurianna saw a familiar statue and glared at it. It was a beautiful-painted statue of Paige, who stood up and smiled beautifully. Her long glossy pink hair that complimented her beautiful perfect brown skin. Her pink warm eyes stared at the love heart shape crystal on her hand and Aurianna rolled her eyes. Paige’s statue wore a light pink dress filled with many flowers, and the flowers were actually sprouting. For the statue to just be considered beautiful was just an understatement.

"Admiring Paige huh," Hotron said as also looked at the statue, and Aurianna faked a smile.

"Goddess Paige is surely a heaven-defying beauty." Hotron praised as though he was a fanboy.

He then looked at Aurianna and then at Paige. "Now that I get a closer look, you and Paige seem to almost be the same in terms of beauty, but Paige is more beautiful," Hotron stated and Aurianna shrugged.

"Well I’m just a natural-born beauty," Aurianna shrugged and the eyes of Paige’s statue seems to glow.

"Maybe if you come here more often and pray and give gifts to Paige you’ll become more beautiful," Hotron gave a thumbs up but Aurianna ignored him and her eyes traced to the bottom of the statue.

Several people could be seen around Paige’s statue, and they clasped their hands as they prayed to her and offered gifts. Once they did that, a pink light would cover them.

Aurianna immediately turned away from the statue and walk away towards the exit.
