Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 157 - 143: War against the Infinite Nation 5
Light cubes materialized around Aurianna and quickly transformed into radiant beams that shot toward the archer. But before they could reach her, a skilled shielder swiftly conjured a protective barrier, shielding both himself and the nearby archers.
Observing this, Aurianna clenched her jaw and commented. "I see their strategy now. Attack, defense, and long-range Archers and Mages to restrict my movements."
As Aurianna prepared to make her next move, an instinctive sense of danger prompted her to summon an arsenal of guns that formed a protective circle, rapidly firing at any threats in her vicinity.
Aurianna immediately noticed a combatant had placed a barrier around them and dashed towards her, his fist now closing in on her face. However, Aurianna easily countered his punch with several punches of her own, causing them to exchange hundreds of punches in an instant.
Sensing a cold aura closing in, Aurianna leaped into the sky just in time, narrowly escaping the sword masters who had thrust their weapons into her previous location. Yet, before she could touch down again, she found herself restrained by chains of wind, her body suspended mid-air.
In a flash, twenty large spells raced toward her. A sly smile played on Aurianna’s lips as she braced herself, her entire body shrouded in a massive blast.
"Did we get her?" a childlike voice questioned amidst the ensuing explosion.
The Chaos and Holy Human fighters stared in disbelief as Aurianna emerged deformed, but her body was swiftly regenerating.
"She keeps healing! At this rate Esmeralda would collapse from exhaustion from fighting those damn golems!" a man growled, brandishing his sword.
"Then we’ll keep attacking her until she can’t regenerate anymore. There must be a limit to her regeneration abilities," another man asserted, his tone nervous. He swung his scythe and led a charge of several others toward Aurianna.
A Chaos Human unleashed a wave of icy shards at Aurianna, piercing the nearby area and her body. Yet, before she could remove the embedded shards, an arrow found its mark in her head, causing her body to explode once more. To everyone’s astonishment, she revived yet again.
Aurianna leapt into the sky and cast her gaze upon the vanguard of the enemy army, a colossal earth elemental, a behemoth of stone and soil marched across the battlefield. It punched the ground, destroying the land and sending heavy spikes of stone to pierce the knights of Sandeph. But their bodies were healed immediately after.
But with a sweep of Antya’s staff, she summoned a colossal tornado that tore through the enemy lines, sending soldiers and debris spiraling into the sky. She then summoned a flame and electricity combination into her hands and threw it towards the tornado causing it to return into a blazing storm that disintegrated the enemy’s bodies upon contact with the tornado. And Mellisa charged towards the behemoth.
"Why do the Dukes get to have all the fun, while I’m stuck dealing with these people? Fifty of them, ugh!" Aurianna grumbled, pouting.
She quickly dodged the incoming arrows, even catching a few in her hand and crushing them.
"I’ve just realized something!" Aurianna declared, turning her attention to the Chaos and Holy Humans surrounding her. "Why are you all so slow? Your attacks are as clear as day! Is it because of Carol? Well she is super fast? Now that I’ve noticed, I’m done playing around. My body may not be in the best of shape thanks to Nia and Abed, but now I know I can kill you all. I’m done evaluating your skills!"
Aurianna landed gracefully and swiftly closed in on an archer. Before the shielder could intervene, she unleashed a rapid barrage of kicks, shattering the shield and piercing her leg into the shielder’s gut. She immediately pulled out her leg from his gut and swiftly appeared on the shoulders of the archer.
She quickly twisted the archer’s head with her leg, ending their life in an instant.
The death of two Holy Humans alerted the remaining group.
Aurianna casually shook off the bloodstains from her leg. "I didn’t fight through that place just to be bested by a bunch of humans."
Aurianna willed, "Singing Glory," and the sky above her fractured, revealing a colossal white golem, partially emerging. Black blood oozed from the golem, forming chains that covered the Chaos and Holy Humans and restrained them.
The black blood coalesced around Aurianna, transforming into a gleaming white armor. She swiftly killed ten of her foes, only for "Singing Glory" to shatter into fragments when pierced by a swordsman.
"You’ll pay for this!" the swordsman roared, slashing at Aurianna in a frenzy, cutting her into pieces as the remaining twenty Chaos and Holy Humans launched their own relentless attacks on her remaining body parts, before they burnt it till nothing remained.
*Clap*, *clap* The Holy and Chaos Humans of the Infinite Nation turned their attention to Aurianna, who stood perched on a rock, perfectly unscathed. "You guys are seriously amazing, you know. If I didn’t have this revive skill, I would have really died," she exclaimed with an enthusiastic smile.
Suddenly Aurianna had realized something, ’This isn’t good; my mana’s running low. I need to eat. If I level up my mana would return back to normal, but I’ve run out of Husae’s mana potions,’ she mused.
"Round Table!" she called out, breaking her leg in half and tossing it into the sky with her crystal arms. She swiftly created a new crystal leg for herself. Another white portal appeared, and a mysterious being snatched the severed limb, promptly devouring it. Emerging from the portal was a female white crystal knight, draped in mage attire, with a hood concealing her face and a large was staff in hand.
"What the heck? She can summon more of them?" Concubine Ezra gasped in disbelief as she and the others watched the third golem.
With a grin, Aurianna named her. "Your name shall be Ruigo!"
"Yes, Master," Ruigo replied, her tone polite.
Aurianna’s happiness was short-lived as a series of coughs wracked her, white blood spewing from her mouth and eyes. "Arghhhhh!!" She writhed in pain, letting out an agonized scream.
The Chaos Humans of the Infinite Nation saw an opportunity in Aurianna’s weakening state. "Those golems are taking a toll on her. We have a shot here. Every time she summons one, she grows weaker," one of them pointed out.
"But Regusk, how are we supposed to approach her with that giant guarding her?" a child inquired, perched on a broomstick, staring at the golem with a furrowed brow.
Regusk shook his head, disheartened by her words but they were true. His cracked glasses were shaking die to his body trembling, "Vertica, I have no idea. I truly wish I had an answer but those things are strong enough to be able to fight Duke Esmeralda."
"So, it seems I’ll have to sacrifice my life to be able to kill these beings," Vertica lamented, her voice tinged with sadness, as she surveyed the remaining 20 Chaos and Holy Humans.
"To think a kid like her could inflict so much damage on us," Vertica remarked with a wry chuckle. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The shock on her companions’ faces was evident. "She’s just a child?!" they exclaimed, taken aback.
Vertica corrected, though still mistaken. "Indeed. If you look closely, her bone structure suggests she’s no older than 15," she noted, unaware that Aurianna was actually just 9 years old.
A man among the group expressed his disbelief. "What in the world? It’s unbelievable for a mere kid to be this powerful! I thought she was an old miser like you with a childlike body!"
Vertica ventured a theory. "Queen Shiba told me that King Girsal conducts experiments on people. Maybe this girl is one of his experiments." She gazed at Aurianna, who was still trembling on the ground.
"His daughter?" a Chaos Human queried.
"Indeed, when I fought her, I noticed the royal insignia on her back," Vertica confirmed.
Vertica warned her comrades as she conjured a knife, holding it close to her neck. "All of you should get out of here."
"Viscount Vertica!" A woman gasped in alarm, watching Vertica with trembling hands.
"We can’t take that thing down, so if I transform into Darksun, there might be a chance to beat it," Vertica proposed with a reluctant smile.
A man in glasses expressed his gratitude. "Thank you, Viscount Vertica, for your sacrifice."
Vertica’s parting words were filled with humor, even though she knew she was going to die. "It’s been a pleasure knowing all of you and being your friend. Now go, get far away from me." With that, she plunged the knife into her throat, and her blood gushed out like a fountain, forming a blood cube around her.
As the sky darkened, Ruigo gazed upwards and ahead, witnessing the transformation of Vertica’s body inside the blood cube. A piercing scream resonated through the battlefield, leaving everyone in stunned silence as they watched what happened.
Iona expressed her disbelief and anger. "To think the Infinite Nation would have a witch – they must be out of their minds!!" Her hands trembled with frustration.
Witches, a special type of human. In the world of Deirion some humans are born with the ability to use magic. But others gain too much magic which is dangerous for themselves and those around them. They are called witches. They have the ability to store large amounts of magic and use complicated spells. Ranked 6 in the ranking of races. But there’s a reason why their rank is so high amongst the 33 and more races that exist in Deirion. When a witch dies they transform into beings called Darksuns. A mere Chaos witch once she dies her Darksun version would be strong enough to rival several Arc Humans and a Grand Human. That’s why when a witch was found, she is either recruited by the churches or is killed when she’s a child so the Darksun ability would have less effect.
"He, he,he," Vertica’s eerie laughter echoed from within the blood cube.
"Sister!" Esmeralda cried out in distress, but before she could rush to Vertica’s side, a barrier enveloped her and she was teleported to where the rest of the Infinite Nation knights were.
Once a witch becomes a Darksun, there’s no turning back. They remain in their monstrous state until someone ends their existence. They become wandering, rampaging monsters, forever lost to their former selves.
Vertica finally emerged from the blood cube. Her entire body had turned pitch black. Her eyes had vanished and was covered by skin, her head sported a crown of musical notes, and she held a wand. With a graceful swipe of her wand, the remaining Infinite Nation knights were drawn together and shielded in a large barrier, including Esmeralda.
"Play, play," she whispered with an eerie tone. Suddenly, over a hundred colossal ladies in ballroom gowns floated upside down, laughing eerily.
The very ground itself grew mouths and began to sing a creepy but captivating tune.
The hovering ladies played violins that sent thousands of musical blades toward the white knights, but their assault was thwarted as Ruigo cast a protective barrier around herself, Nia, and Abed.
Mouths sprouted from the earth, gnawing on the barriers until they formed cracks and shattered. But before Nia could fall prey to their voracious maws, she wielded her sabers to slash them into pieces.
The hovering women in the sky opened their mouths, releasing beams of music that resulted in explosive eruptions upon impact, enveloping the battlefield in massive explosions.
Ruigo calmly floated in the sky, holding Aurianna in her right palm, her gaze fixed on Vertica, who sat at a distance, her form growing larger and larger as she had a creepy smile on her face.
Ruigo’s staff came alive, conjuring thousands of magic circles around Vertica, unleashing a barrage of explosive magic that decimated the land around her. The explosions were so intense that even onlookers couldn’t make out the details.
Suddenly, the hovering women in the sky grew in size, using their musical instruments to attack the white knights. Nia, gripping her saber, tried to fend off their attack, but she and Abed found themselves being suppressed by them.
Ruigo twirled her staff, conjuring a hundred radiant orbs that floated around her and then shot into the faces of the floating women, causing them to crumble. But, it didn’t stop the crazed laughter and singing of the others.
"I said, play," Vertica demanded as she materialized before Ruigo, now towering over all the knights, clad in a long red gown that flowed dripping blood.
