Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 151 - 137: Freed
"Welcome, Your Highness," greeted the female knights, their armor clinking softly as they stood guard at Aurianna’s door, graciously opening it to let her enter.
Once Aurianna stepped into the room, her eyes fell upon a group of maids stationed before her. They gave her a deep bow in unison, showing their respect.
"Good afternoon, Princess!" they chimed, but Aurianna paid them little mind, making herself comfortable on the living room couch.
"Please, is there anything you would like, Princess?" one of the maids asked, her eyes seemingly devoid of expression.
"I’m feeling quite hungry, bring me some cooked gloomclaw meat, an entire table of it," Aurianna ordered with a charming smile, causing the maid to blush slightly.
"As... as you wish, Princess," the maid stammered, before leaving with the other maids.
"My back aches. Someone should come and massage me," Aurianna ordered, and within moments, five maids assembled around her. One focused on her neck and shoulders, two on her legs, and the remaining two on her arms.
"Princess, there’s someone here to see you," a female knight announced, standing at the door.
"Who is it?" Aurianna inquired, her tone tinged with annoyance, as she cast an icy gaze upon the knight with her striking light blue eyes.
"It’s your older brother, Freed," the knight replied.
"Oh, let him in," Aurianna said, a smile gracing her lips, and the knight nodded before opening the door.
As Freed entered her room, Aurianna couldn’t help but notice the towering young man, standing at seven feet. His long, neatly braided yellow hair adorned with flowers.
"What brings you here, big brother Freed?" Aurianna asked as she stared at him. She signaled with a flick of her hand for the maids to withdraw, leaving only her and Freed.
"Why is my little sister being so cold?" Freed asked, attempting to hug her but finding himself halted by her hand, his height accentuating her smaller stature.
"Because you’re always worrying me!" Aurianna snorted.
"If I don’t play with you, I would feel so lonely!!" Freed protested, to which Aurianna merely rolled her eyes.
"Chi, chi, chi, so, what’s the real reason for your visit?" she asked, her gaze fixed on Freed.
"I’m sorry," Freed apologized, his face reflecting hurt as he straightened up. "Your big brother apologizes for not being able to protect you. This trial shouldn’t have happened, those nobles have their own dirty secrets! I’ll make them pay for it all. That Russel girl has always been a pain, showing no respect for authority. I’ve heard how rude she was to seniors at the Academy!" Freed grumbled, stomping his foot, his green eyes betraying a hint of frustration.
"It’s understandable brother. I’m someone who won’t let an insignificant person dare to get away with disrespecting me without letting them experience the consequences of their actions. The fact that she showed no remorse left a distasteful feeling in my heart, so I just had to kill her or else I wouldn’t feel alright," Aurianna said, flashing a sinister smile that sent shivers down Freed’s spine.
Freed let out a deep sigh and fixed her with a serious gaze. "If something makes you uncomfortable, you’re well within your rights to address it. But keep in mind, life is full of things that may make you uncomfortable or offend you," he advised, though Aurianna’s face only twisted into a frown.
"Well, I’ll just kill all of them then," she declared with an excited tone.
Freed’s sigh deepened as he patted her head. "You’re still wrong, but you’ll come to understand as you grow."
"Could you stop with the head-patting? It’s weird," Aurianna pouted.
"So, my little sister doesn’t want me to pat her head?" Freed cried dramatically, as he slumped to the ground.
"Stop with the crying!" Aurianna scolded him.
Freed composed himself and looked at her intensely. "By the way, is it true that you’re a level 400?" he asked, his green eyes studying Aurianna.
Aurianna nodded. "Yes, it’s true."
"That explains a lot," Freed murmured, leaning against the wall. "Since you’re the strongest among us, when you turn 12, you’ll be declared the crown princess and a candidate for the throne. And since the nobles can’t handle your personality, they might want to get rid of you."
"I have no regrets. This war is a perfect chance to test my new skills!" Aurianna beamed, clenching her fist. "Monsters in dungeons aren’t enough, and Father won’t let me try the high-level ones."
’I also want to see how Eva’s and Carol’s training helps me fight against human enemies.’ Aurianna silently thought.
"I admire your bravery," Freed said with a smile as he noticed Aurianna’s enthusiasm. ’I thought she would be scared, but it seems I underestimated her,’ Freed thought as she stared at Aurianna.
"Also, I wanted to give you something," Freed said, retrieving an item from his ring and handing it to Aurianna.
"Shoes?" Aurianna asked, inspecting the pair of sleek high heels in her hand.
"These aren’t just any shoes but High Boots, they’re an upgraded version of what Father gave you. These battle shoes enhance your speed, come equipped with hidden swords, and provide leg protection. Plus, they have a teleportation feature. They can also teleport you away to another country!" Freed explained with enthusiasm, and Aurianna’s interest was piqued as she listened to his explanation.
"Are you not worried about Father’s people eavesdropping?" Aurianna questioned, her gaze fixed on Freed.
"I know they’re listening, but what’s the point of worrying? I’m used to it; it’s always been this way. If we keep being afraid, we won’t grow, you know? Besides, this is a gift from me to you! There’s nothing to worry about," Freed reassured her with a thumbs-up, prompting a contented sigh and smile from Aurianna.
"Freed," she called.
Freed turned to her, "Yes, Aurianna?"
"You’re an idiot," Aurianna snorted as she stared at him.
"My sister’s mad at me!" Freed cried, clutching his chest dramatically.
"Won’t your mother, Cecilia, be upset with you for helping me?" Aurianna inquired.
Freed stopped his fake tears and looked at her, a warm smile gracing his face. "Our mother may seem strict, but she’s a loving one who cares deeply for us."
"Thank you," Aurianna whispered, holding the shoes.
"Did you say something? I couldn’t quite catch it," Freed teased, cupping his ear.
"Scram!" Aurianna snapped with a flushed face, and Freed grinned.
"Make sure you come back in one piece, Aurianna," he said before exiting the room.
"Thank you, dear brother, for this marvelous gift," Aurianna chuckled, a sinister grin playing on her lips. "Charming others certainly has its advantages. My dear brother Freed doesn’t even suspect it."
"Why do you say that, master?" Zagan asked as he perched on her lap.
Aurianna picked him up, her face twisted into a maniacal smile. "Well, in my past life, I remember Freed as a staunchly righteous person, always condemning what he saw as evil. Yet here I am, a criminal, and he’s still on my side, not acting like his usual self. That’s the power of charm!"
"What do you mean by ’the power of charm’?" Zagan inquired, clearly puzzled.
Aurianna, holding Zagan, placed him back on her lap and affectionately rubbed his head. "It’s simple. No matter how much a person’s opinions, beliefs, or ideology clash with mine, as long as they’re charmed by me, their entire mindset gets twisted to align with my views. They can’t help but support me. If I’d known how to use my charm like this in my past life, things would have been so much simpler!" Aurianna exclaimed, but Zagan remained perplexed.
"Master, what is a past life?" Zagan asked, his beady black eyes locked onto Aurianna’s light blue ones.
"It’s nothing you need to worry about," Aurianna said, turning Zagan over and rubbing his belly.
"Master, you’re quite strange," Zagan mumbled as he drifted off to sleep on Aurianna’s lap not noticing Aurianna biting her nails.
"Maybe I am," she muttered.
