S.P.E.C.T.O.R-Chapter 556: Stacey Cartwright

Adam started to play the piano and shortly after, Lorelie began to sing, accompanied by the sound of precision instruments, foot stomps and hand claps that came from Adam’s uniband.

As soon as her voice spread across the restaurant, all conversation and movement stopped as all the customers, workers and even Stacey and Charlotte turned and looked at Lorelie as they focused completely on her singing.

As the song built towards the chorus, the sound of a synthesiser, along with bass and drums, kicked in, giving the song a more powerful feel.

After that, sweeping orchestral strings were added to the music.

Throughout the entire song, the music continued to build until right near the end, where the listening audience heard the strings, heavy drums and synths' most intense instrumentation.

As the song finally came to an end, silence filled the restaurant.

[Phoenixempress (Fenix Nest): Her performances are definitely improving.]

Stacey and the others applauded politely after the performance ended and as if that was the trigger, everyone else in the restaurant broke into applause.

“That was incredible.”

“I’ve never heard of anyone having such an amazing voice before.”

“Who is that woman? How have we never heard of her?”

“It’s not only her voice but also her beauty; with both of those, she could be the greatest singer in the world.”

“I was never really a fan of that song before, but that was incredible.”

“What were those instruments that suddenly appeared?”

“You saw them too? I thought I was imagining something.”

“They looked like those holograms you see in Sci-Fi TV shows and films, but I have no idea how that's even possible.”

“The young man who played the piano also did an amazing job.”

“Agreed, he played very well.”

“That was incredible,” Emma said as Adam and Lorelie returned to their seats while Adam put his uniband back on.

“Thank you, Emma,” Lorelie said as she smiled at her.

“It’s one thing listening to you sing on the stream, but it doesn’t compare to when you perform live,” Emma said.

“I agree,” Eri stated.

“It was such a good performance from both of you,” Tephe said happily.

“I must say that was quite the performance,” A female voice suddenly said, causing everyone to look and see Stacey, who had just approached their table.

“Good evening, Miss Flemming,” Emma said politely.

“Good evening, Miss Hopkins, I hope you're doing well,” Stacey replied.

“Quite well, thank you, but where are my manners? Allow me to do introductions,” Emma replied and was about to reply when she was suddenly interrupted.

“No need, Emma,” Adam said before he turned to look at Stacey with a frown and said, “I guess that explains why nobody heard of you before Stacey Flemming, or is it Stacey Cartwright?”

“Been a while, Adam Spencer,” Stacey replied, causing Emma and the other women to look surprised.

“Since graduation, I believe,” Adam replied before asking, “So is going to school under a different identity something everyone in the Flemming family does, or was it just you?”

“You two went to school together?” Rowena asked curiously.

“We did, she was one of Jenny’s friends,” Adam replied.

“Really? How interesting,” Rowena replied as she gave Stacey a curious look.

“If you must know, it was just me; my grandmother ordered me to do it,” Stacey replied as she grabbed a chair from a nearby table and sat down between Eri and Emma, who were sitting opposite Adam.

“Care to explain why?” Adam asked before adding, “Though I’m sure I can guess why.”

“Oh, can you now?” Stacey asked with a smirk before adding, “Please do.”

“To recruit Jenny into the Flemming family's faction. I’m guessing that's why you always tried to get between us and also why Oxford University made those offers,” Adam replied

“You always were smart, even for an orphan,” Stacey replied.

“And you were always a snob, even if you pretended to be someone else,” Adam retorted.

“You..” Stacey snapped, but Adam interrupted her before she could continue by asking, “What do you want?”

“Is it wrong for me, the owner of this restaurant, to want to speak with the valued customers?” Stacey asked.

“And yet you passed all those other customers and came straight to our table,” Adam replied before asking, “What did Isabella Flemming send you here for?”

“That’s Lady Isabella Flemming,” Stacey stated proudly as she added, “She was personally knighted by the former queen after all.”

“At her own discretion or because your family forced it?” Adam asked, causing Stacey to glare at him.

“Don’t think you're anything special, Adam….” Stacey began, only for Lorelie to frown and interrupt her as she asked.

“But he is special. Have you or any other Earthlings travelled out into the universe and interacted with other races yet?”

“Well, no,” Stacey replied in surprise.

“Then I suggest you choose your words more carefully, as my boyfriend is the one who represents your entire race out in the known universe and by universal standards, that puts him on the same level as Universal Senators who dictate Universal Law and policy,” Lorelie stated.

“Boyfriend? Universal Senators?” Stacey replied in confusion as Charlotte, who stood behind her, also showed a confused expression.

“I can see that your limited understanding of the universe prevents you from understanding such simple matters, so try to understand this,” Lorelie said before adding with narrowed eyes, “The only member of the Flemming family that has the right to speak with Adam is your family head.”

“Oh boy, Lorelie’s dark side is showing again,” Aphrodite remarked with a smile.

“Seriously, that only ever shows itself when it involves Adam,” Rowena said with a smirk.

“A piece of advice, leave the diplomacy to someone else because you suck at it,” Stacey said as she stared at her.

“Are all members of the five families such pussies?” Tephe asked.

“Tephe, that’s not a very nice term,” Aphrodite reprimanded.

“Well, I’m not wrong,” Tephe replied before continuing, “First, there was that Antony guy in Emma’s office who almost pissed his pants, then there was that David at the hotel who avoided entering the elevator with Adam and now there is this rude bitch who’s interrupted us.”

“She’s not wrong,” Eri remarked.

“Rude bitch?” Stacey repeated in shock since no one had ever spoken to her this way.

“So are you going to tell me why you approached us, or are you going to fuck off?” Adam asked.

After a few seconds of Stacey sitting there in shock, Chalotte sighed and coughed lightly before saying, “Might I answer that?”

“And you are?” Adam asked.

“I’m Charlotte, Miss Flemming's assistant.”

“I suggest you find a new job instead of working for this bitch, but go ahead,” Adam replied.

“Miss Flemming mentioned that her relationship with you wasn’t good, but I didn’t expect it to be this bad,” Charlotte replied in slight surprise.

“Well, considering she was always telling Jenny that I wasn’t good enough for her and trying to break us up while being nothing but disrespectful to me, I would agree that our relationship isn’t good,” Adam replied.

“I see,” Charlotte replied before coughing lightly again and saying, “Lady Flemming instructed her granddaughter, Stacey, to try and build a close friendship with you since the two of you attended school together.”

“Seriously? Stacey?” Adam asked in disbelief before asking, “Didn’t Stacey tell her about our history? I’m more likely to kill her than be friends with her.”
