Each of them had a bottle of beer in front of them, and they were enjoying their meal with gusto. Su Yijia moved to the side and saw the man who had sold her oil smiling at her. She should have seen him since they were directly facing each other, but she didn’t meet his gaze and instead turned her attention elsewhere.
"Tsk, she’s the little girl you said could sell oil. It seems like she doesn’t want to have anything to do with us," the man sitting at the head of the table commented with a hint of coldness.
Qiu Yanqing withdrew his gaze without feeling embarrassed, and instead, he smiled casually, "The little girl is probably afraid that we’ll expose her and doesn’t want to be associated with us outside the black market. I can understand that."
"You find a way to connect with her. Whether we can take over Huang Laosan’s territory depends on whether we can make her a regular supplier for us. Ideally, we’d get the method she uses to refine the oil, so we’d have as much as we want," Jiang Kebao said, glancing at Su Yijia.
He noticed a man walking up to her and bumping into her slightly. The motion was subtle, but Jiang Kebao could see that the man, after bumping into her, had a brief expression of disbelief on his face. He stared at Su Yijia as if he wanted to devour her whole. It wasn’t until Su Yijia looked at the man curiously that he withdrew his gaze.
He acted as if nothing had happened and walked to the back of the line where people were ordering food.
"Boss, do you think that guy did it on purpose?" Qiu Yanqing asked uncertainly.
Although Jiang Kebao was twenty years younger than him, the group they had formed was Jiang Kebao’s initiative. Therefore, everyone called him "Boss" without letting age come into play as a factor of authority.
"Yeah," Jiang Kebao replied. He shifted his gaze away and continued eating, pretending that he hadn’t noticed anything. He used his chopsticks to serve Qiu Yanqing some Kung Pao chicken.
Qiu Yanqing wanted to get up to help but was held back by Jiang Kebao’s chopsticks.
"Don’t get involved! Look at the way that man walks. It’s something that can only be achieved with over a decade of training," Jiang Kebao said. While he wanted Su Yijia’s oil, he didn’t want to invite any trouble. He didn’t want to see that in the end, not only did they fail to obtain the oil, but also had to suffer casualties and lose their original territory.
