Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 187Book 3, : Guidance
When Senior Yu came back to the martial arts school, he saw Chen Chuan’s car, and took a good, long look at it.
“Wow. A modified car from Jiade?”
He circled it with eyes full of admiration and envy. He had always wanted this sort of car.
Unfortunately, due to the location of the martial arts school, the car he bought would end up in someone else’s hands by the end of the day. Because of this, he only entertained the thought and never bought it.
He noticed a slightly raised disc on the car lock, and his eyes zeroed in on it. “Is that... a heavy rotating disc?”
He put his hand on it before shaking his head. Incredible finger strength was required to turn the disc, and Senior Yu couldn’t do it. The owner of the car was definitely a powerful martial artist.
Why would someone like that come here?
He cast a glance at the martial arts school before turning his ear toward the door. As he concentrated, he heard the sounds of fighting from within. Based on how the air howled, he could tell that it wasn't the kids.
His expression turned dark, and he removed the clasp around the chains on his arm, then fixed the heavy steel ball on them before hurrying in.
The martial arts school was basic in appearance, but the conditions inside were pretty good. At that moment, sunlight shone in through the windows positioned near the ceiling and lit up the entire school.
The kids were sitting near the wall, while Lu Fang fought against a teenager of around seventeen years old.
Lu Fang was on the offensive, while the teenager was simply parrying his attacks. He wasn’t even moving. No matter how Lu Fang attacked, he wasn’t able to make the teenager budge from his position. The teenager wasn’t counterattacking much, either. After a few moves, he flung his arm, and Lu Fang went flying.
Still, it was clear that the teenager had held back. His control over refined force was perfect as well. After landing on the floor, Lu Fang flipped around and used the momentum to stand up again. He wasn’t hurt in the slightest.
At this point, Senior Yu could tell that they were just sparring, so he put away his weapon, even though he was still surprised.
Lu Fang had sparred against him before, and he wasn’t that much weaker than he was. Still, Senior Yu could tell that if they fought in a battle to the death, he might not be able to win against Lu Fang.
And that was in the past.
Lu Fang was a hard worker. Aside from teaching, he used the rest of his time training and polishing his skills. He woke up the earliest of the three of them and was the last to go to bed. His martial arts skills should have improved, but he wasn’t able to even scratch the teenager’s hair.
Senior Yu took a closer look at the teenager, and he trembled in shock.
“W-What?”
Suddenly, he came to a realization. Isn’t this the guy who defeated Wei Wusheng?
He’s a Third Limit martial artist, isn’t he?!
His eyes became as huge as saucers.
“What’s going on?”
Lu Fang wasn’t the type to show off, so he hadn’t mentioned that Chen Chuan was the junior he knew. But Senior Yu was smart. After the initial shock wore off, all the puzzle pieces fell into place. Disbelief and excitement showed up on his face.
Lu Fang was sent tumbling back again. This had happened multiple times, but he wasn’t just getting beaten up. Whenever he went up against Chen Chuan, he learned something new.
Chen Chuan remained standing in place and never used power or speed surpassing that of a Second Limit martial artist.
He was providing guidance, so using his physical abilities to overpower Lu Fang would have been meaningless. That was why he tried his best to use techniques and little of his mutated tissue. His goal was to stay on the same level as Lu Fang.
Even so, Lu Fang wasn’t his match.
This was because even though he didn’t use much of his mutated tissue, he was still using a lot more compared to Lu Fang. His understanding of techniques and battle opportunities was also on a whole other level compared to that of Lu Fang.
Through fighting against multiple Third Limit martial artists, Chen Chuan had gained a lot of fighting experience. Hence, the moment Lu Fang moved, Chen Chuan already knew what he was trying to do and could naturally come up with targeted counterattacks. This made it into such a one-sided match.
After being sent flying more than a hundred times, Lu Fang finally stopped charging at Chen Chuan. He was drenched in sweat and gasping for breath, but he remained excited.
He could sense that during their short spar, he had improved greatly. It wasn’t in terms of physical abilities, but in his understanding of battle, along with the control and use of refined force.
So, he gave Chen Chuan a fist-and-palm salute and said sincerely, “Thank you, Chen Chuan.”
“You’re welcome. By the way, during our spar just now, I noticed that not all of you were working together well. I think you should focus on making some adjustments to those parts,” Chen Chuan noted.
“Oh? Which ones?” Lu Fang asked, stunned.
Chen Chuan immediately went over and patted several parts on his waist, back, hands, and legs. He also pointed out the problems with them.
The biofields of martial artists under the Third Limit weren’t obvious and would only spill out during battles or after taking stimulants. Through their spar just now, Chen Chuan had figured out Lu Fang’s condition.
Lu Fang had a great foundation. It was solid and sturdy, but there were a few parts of his mutated tissue that weren’t connected, so he needed to strengthen them.
There were also certain parts that were too strong and ended up holding him back, since they led to an overall lack of harmony. Hence, the refined force that he could channel out was weaker than what it should be. Lu Fang would be able to fix the problem quickly if he strengthened the other parts.
If Lu Fang trained according to Chen Chuan’s suggestions, he would become stronger by up to 20% in less than half a month.
It might seem like a small improvement, but to martial artists, even a tiny improvement could allow them to overpower an opponent that was on equal footing with them in the past.
Also, there was a hitch in Lu Fang’s breathing. He was likely using the breathing technique his mentor from Martial Valor University had taught him.
But every person was different. While a general-purpose breathing technique could give attention to most parts of the body, it was not suited for everyone, so they needed to make adjustments on their own.
For example, Chen Chuan had been making conscious adjustments from the start. The general direction of the breathing technique was fine, so there wasn’t any need to make adjustments to that, but after tweaking the minor details, it had become tailored specifically to him.
He was sure that Lu Fang could figure it out on his own eventually, but that would take a long time. Now that Chen Chuan had told him about it, he could take a lot of shortcuts.
Lecturers and mentors were there to guide their students and mentees down the right direction. They helped them skip the trial-and-error phases and take the straight path forward. Because of it, they could make full use of their period of rapid growth.
A martial artist’s golden period of growth did not last forever. If they spent it wondering how to fix everything, it would go to waste, and they wouldn’t be able to bring out their potential. They would then never be able to reach greater heights.
While Chen Chuan was giving Lu Fang tips, Senior Yu watched them. Chen Chuan didn’t try to avoid him. All that he said was going to be useless to others even if they overheard it. But he did notice the longing look in Senior Yu’s eyes.
Once Lu Fang listened to all of Chen Chuan’s tips, he came out of his contemplative silence and noticed that Senior Yu was standing by the side. He immediately made introductions. “Chen Chuan, this is Senior Yu. Senior Guo and him took me in when I came to Central City.”
Then, he turned to Senior Yu. “Senior Yu, this is Chen Chuan, the junior I was talking about.”
Senior Yu smiled and walked over. “Well met. Lu Fang has often talked about you.”
Chen Chuan watched him for a moment before saying, “Sorry for dropping by without notice today. I’m sure I’m bothering you two. Since you’re here, would you like to spar as well?”
“Can I, too?” Senior Yu’s face shone with delight. As if worried that Chen Chuan would change his mind, he hurriedly nodded. “Yes!”
While Chen Chuan was guiding him, Senior Guo came back as well. Since it made no difference to Chen Chuan whether he taught one or three people, Senior Guo also learned a lot from sparring against him.
Despite being able to tell that these two had ulterior motives, Chen Chuan didn’t have any biases against them.
With their strength, they could join whatever gang they wanted. This would let them earn money much faster. The two didn’t have any criminal record, though, so even if they were troublemakers of a sort, they weren’t horrible people.
Once it was over, the two generously treated him to a meal in a high-class hotel in Deep End District.
After the meal, the money they had saved for months was gone, but they didn’t think that it was a loss. It was more than well spent. Where else would they be able to find a Third Limit martial artist to guide them?
It was basically impossible to find one with just this bit of money. Today, they had ridden on Lu Fang’s coattails. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to even meet someone like Chen Chuan.
They parted ways after dinner, and Lu Fang sent Chen Chuan off.
As Senior Yu watched them leave, he lamented, “I’ve finally learned just how powerful Third Limit martial artists are. Even when we were students, no lecturer was able to so accurately point out our problems.”
“Yes, but I think that it’s not because our lecturers weren’t any good. It’s simply because Chen Chuan is too good,” Senior Guo said.
He wasn’t wrong. Chen Chuan was able to do this because his mutated tissue coverage was really high, so he had a deeper understanding of the problems in certain areas. The lecturers could only stick to the books, so what Chen Chuan taught and what the lecturers taught were different.
Besides, he had mastered biofields as well. Without that knowledge, he wouldn’t have been able to so accurately point out their weaknesses, much less in such detail.

When Chen Chuan returned to his car, he asked, “How’s the manor, Senior Lu?”
“It’s fine. Xiao Shi, that’s Thirteen, wants to live her own life now.
“She no longer has a master after Zhao Qian died, and no one can control her anymore. That manor has become her home, and she has since changed her name to Shi Yi. She’s now a resonator and has been completing missions with her skills. She can provide for herself with the money she earns.”
The other one was a loyal servant of Zhao Qian. Once he realized that he couldn’t defeat Lu Fang and Shi Yi, he refused to eat or drink, and passed away within half a month. They buried him in the backyard.
“I won’t give up on looking for Shen Zheng’s sister. I’m not strong enough right now, but once I am, I’ll find her,” Lu Fang declared. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Chen Chuan nodded at that.
“See you later, then.” He opened the car door, got inside, and drove into the sea of dazzling lights of the Central City as Lu Fang watched.
