Chapter 562: A Tensed Dinner

"I don’t get it..." Laysa suddenly spoke with the solemnity that made people aaround her turn around and listen. However, as the corner of her lips tugged, everyone knew that this was not a serious matter. True enough... "How could we be the only two who won our game? Sheva, is there something wrong with your third student?"

Sheva sighed helplessly, not expecting her to rope him into this mess. Her smile was so wide that the boy could feel his own facial muscles hurt, a huge provocation toward the girl. As for the victim herself, her face darkened instantly, and honestly, if she strolled around outside right now, it would be impossible to recognize her.

"Tch! You don’t understand the situation at all! If you are in my position, you will also end up the same here, or probably even worse." Claudia scowled, still trying to save face while also preventing herself from snapping here.

Yeah, she was really in a foul mood after getting forced into a draw in the last match. It wasn’t like her opponent was strong, but she just fell into her habit of not knowing when to attack, and as a result, she didn’t even send any attack at all. Her opponent just accepted the charity happily, especially when Claudia was a clear favorite in this game.

To make it worse, both Laysa and Anna managed to win their game, and in total, those two swept the first double-header day of the tournament with two absolute wins. That was why, right after Claudia knew about it, her state deteriorated quickly, knowing that she was in for Laysa’s roasting session again.

She had a glimmer of hope that the older girl would take pity on her. Unfortunately, mercy was the last word in Laysa’s dictionary right now.

"What? You mean I can get worse than one loss and one draw against a 2100-rated player? What a shocking revelation..." She clutched her chest dramatically.

Claudia’s mood worsened immediately as she slammed the table and pointed her finger at Laysa rudely. "Don’t get too far, you bitch!"

"What?! Am I a bitch? Well, if I am what you see as karma, you are indeed correct. Karma is a bitch, girl!"

Sheva sighed once again, turning to Anna for a little help. Unfortunately, the girl didn’t really want to get involved in this matter. It was a shocking turn of events because usually, Anna would be ready to shield her little sister from the winds and rains.

Well, today was a special case, it seemed. Anna herself also noticed Claudia’s arrogance grew wildly if it was left unchecked, so even though she had a headache, the girl had no intention of stopping the commotion here.

’I mean, Laysa is willingly volunteering herself to be a bad guy, so who am I to stop her?’ She thought to herself.

It was almost 9 at night already, and honestly, Sheva would be grateful for anyone who volunteered to go back first. Right now, all he wanted to do was just fall into his bed, not even wanting to think of tomorrow’s game. Today really took a toll on him, and if it was a hint for tomorrow, he really didn’t look forward to it.

’Honestly, just one person is enough, as long as someone volunteers to go back first, the other will follow.’ He groaned, his eyebags were so dark and thick.

As for why he wasn’t the one who initiated that... Well, he would do so in a heartbeat, except that they were currently gathering at his house.

Yeah, when they were discussing where to have dinner earlier, somehow, his mother had already invited the girls to come along. Not by chatting him, mind you, because if so, Sheva would have a room to maneuver, like refusing the invitation subtly and making some sort of excuse that they were exhausted or something like that.

However, she invited them directly, texting the girls to come since she cooked shrimp fried rice back home. It seemed that they had their own group chat with his mother getting roped into it, and this was the first time Sheva heard about its existence.

So, yeah, that brought him into this awkward situation where all he wanted to do was to chase them away, yet none of them seemed to be sensitive enough to notice his difficulty.

Bzzzt....

Suddenly, all the phones in the room buzzed, and without anyone saying anything, they all knew what was going on here. "The pairing for tomorrow is out!"

However, unlike the usual, Sheva didn’t even glance at his phone. No, he just shut his eyes tightly, wanting to jump to the dreamland immediately.

Seeing this, Anna couldn’t help but ask, "You okay?"

"No, I am not. I am so dead tired right now." Sheva groaned, covering his face as he made a whimper sound. "God, why don’t you guys feel tired here? Are we really having the same day or what?" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

The girls looked at him silently, with Claudia, in the end, snarking, "Tch. You become weaker, Sheva. Just a double-header day, and you are about to collapse, already? I cannot imagine how you will survive this tournament until the end."

Usually, Sheva would’ve just ignored her asshole remark, probably brushing it off as the girl’s antics. However, this time, his mouth ran before he could control it, speaking out loud what was inside his mind.

"Probably, still winning the tournament. At least, it is still better than being fit but still not being able to win even a single game in one day, right?"

Laysa choked, and Anna snapped her head in disbelief. It was not often for Sheva to have that harsh tone aimed at the girl, and they were quite speechless here. However, the worst reaction came from Claudia, as the little girl’s face was so red that it looked like she was about to explode here.

"What? If she doesn’t like getting that kind of answer, she should’ve known how to shut her mouth, you know?" Sheva complained as if the victim herself was not sitting in front of him. "Anyway, I know that I will have to face Tin Jingyao tomorrow morning. He is the only one besides me who still has a perfect record. So, is there anything else that you guys need to know?"
