Chapter 58: Chapter 58 : This possibility can’t get any worse

Arthur’s body lay sprawled across the rough ground, completely motionless. The packed sand beneath him felt cold against his skin, and small grains clung to his clothes and hair. For a few seconds everything remained quiet, until suddenly—

SPLASH.

A bucket of freezing water was poured directly over him.

Arthur’s entire body jolted violently as his eyes snapped open. He shot upright as if someone had shocked him with lightning. His breathing became rapid and confused as he looked around wildly.

"Sorry Mr. Davis! I swear I wasn’t slacking at work!" he shouted in panic while glancing around as if expecting his old boss to appear.

His head turned left and right rapidly, his eyes still unfocused from the sudden awakening. Then his gaze finally landed on the figure standing in front of him.

It was Yuna.

She stood there with her arms crossed and a devilish smirk spread across her face.

"Wake up," she said lazily. "I don’t train slackers."

Arthur blinked several times before his tense shoulders relaxed slightly. "Oh... Master, it’s you," he said in a relieved voice.

The relief lasted only a second.

Suddenly his entire body exploded with pain.

"AHHH!" Arthur clutched his ribs as he nearly collapsed again. "Damn it... it feels like I got hit by a bulldozer. My whole body is in pain."

Yuna shrugged casually and said, "Of course it is. Julia kicked your ass... pretty hard and pretty easily too." She then burst out laughing and added, "Honestly it was pretty entertaining watching you get your ass handed to you after all that cocky attitude."

Arthur’s mouth twitched slightly but he said nothing.

Because deep down he knew she was right.

Julia had completely outclassed him.

Most of the hits he had managed to land on her had barely even phased her. To someone like Julia, those attacks probably felt like harmless taps.

Arthur slowly pushed himself into a sitting position while groaning in pain. As he finally looked around properly, he realized they were outside the mansion in the backyard.

But calling it a backyard felt wrong.

It looked more like a brutal martial training ground.

All around him were weapons and training equipment of every kind. Swords, spears, staffs, and heavy iron weapons were stacked along the edges. The ground beneath him was packed sand mixed with rough gravel, clearly designed to withstand heavy impact.

Several wooden training dummies stood lined up nearby. Massive stone blocks were scattered across the area like giant weights. Thick ropes hung from tall wooden beams.

Large metal chains were anchored deep into the ground. Heavy iron weapons lay stacked near the side while enormous wooden logs rested nearby for strength training.

There were even cracked stone pillars scattered around the yard, each one clearly shattered from repeated strikes.

The entire place looked brutal.

It was clearly designed for martial artists to push their bodies beyond their limits.

Arthur winced as he tried to stretch. Every muscle in his body screamed in pain. He turned his head toward Yuna and said, "What are we doing here? I’m in no condition to train right now. Just give me a healing potion."

Right at that moment his stomach growled loudly.

GRRRRRR.

Arthur sighed dramatically and added, "And while you’re at it, prepare some fancy chicken dishes too. Something roasted... maybe fried too... actually just bring both."

Yuna raised an eyebrow slightly before replying, "Of course you will get to eat... but today is not your day."

Arthur’s relaxed expression immediately froze. "What do you mean?" he asked.

Yuna pointed calmly toward the training ground and said, "For the next ten straight days, this will be your home."

Arthur blinked slowly.

"You will live here and you will train here," Yuna continued. "I will personally train you every morning."

Arthur stared at her in disbelief.

"This is your punishment for losing the match against Julia," she finished.

For several seconds Arthur simply stared at her before letting out a nervous laugh. "You’re joking... right?" he asked.

Yuna simply smiled without saying a word.

Arthur’s face slowly fell as the realization sank in."Oh, come on," he protested, running a hand through his hair. "That wasn’t even a fair matchup, and you know it."

For a brief moment, silence hung in the air.

Then Yuna’s gaze suddenly sharpened.

The playful expression that had been resting on her face vanished instantly, replaced by something far colder.

"And will you whine like that every time you face someone stronger than you?" she asked.

Her voice was calm, but the chill in it made Arthur stiffen. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Arthur froze.

Yuna took a slow step toward him, her eyes locked onto his.

"Today’s fight was reality for you," she continued. "There will always be people stronger than you. And sometimes, you won’t have the luxury of avoiding them."

Her words fell heavily into the silence.

"Sometimes," she said, her tone growing sharper, "you’ll have no choice but to fight them in a life-and-death battle."

Arthur swallowed.

Yuna stopped a few steps away from him.

"Tell me," she said coldly, "when that moment comes... will you stand there whining like this?"

Her finger suddenly pointed straight at his chest.

"Will you complain about fairness while you’re about to lose?"

Arthur’s mouth opened, but no words came out.

Yuna’s voice dropped even lower.

"If that’s the case," she said, "you’ll die a hopeless and miserable death."

Arthur’s lips pressed together.

"You’ll die whining," Yuna continued mercilessly, "and the ones who killed you will spit on your corpse... laughing at what a pathetic weakling you were. As killing you was no different than stepping on a bug."

Arthur’s mouth slowly closed.

For the first time since the conversation began, he had nothing to say.

And that silence said everything.

Yuna’s words hung in the air long after she finished speaking.

For a moment Arthur said nothing. The words had struck him harder than any punch Julia had thrown earlier.

He rubbed the back of his neck slowly and thought, ’Damn it... I hate it when someone presents arguments like that. The kind that sound so good and on point that you can’t even argue back properly. It’s like getting trapped in logic you don’t want to admit is true beacause it is true.’

He clicked his tongue quietly and exhaled.

’And the worst part... she is absolutely right.’

Arthur finally looked up at Yuna and scratched his cheek awkwardly before speaking. "You know... I already understand that," he said. "Because all my life I’ve never found an opponent weaker than me."

Yuna nodded once and replied flatly, "Good. At least you realize that you’re a weakling."

A thick vein immediately popped on Arthur’s forehead.

’I swear... one day I’m going to throw this woman into a lake.’

But he forced himself to calm down.

He swallowed his anger and forced a strained smile before saying, "Of course."

Yuna narrowed her eyes slightly and said, "What? Are you angry? Do you want to fight?"

Arthur immediately raised both hands defensively and said in a strained voice, "Of course not, Master. You’re always right."

Yuna nodded with satisfaction and then pointed toward something nearby. "Good. From now on, that will be your home."

Arthur followed her finger.

And what he saw nearly made his soul leave his body.

A small tent sat near the edge of the training yard.

Arthur stared at it for a long moment, looking like a man who had just lost everything in life. For a brief second he genuinely felt like crying, but with tremendous effort he forced himself to smile.

Yuna noticed his expression and smirked as she said, "Looks like you like your new home."

Arthur nodded slowly and replied with heavy sarcasm, "Of course I do. Fresh air, open environment, beautiful natural breeze... honestly Master this place is amazing." He glanced at the tent again and added dryly, "And look at that ventilation system. The wind can enter from literally every direction."

Yuna ignored the sarcasm completely.

Arthur sighed and asked, "And what about food surely you’re not thinking of starving me to death.....so my stomach can grow stronger too."

As yuna voice came "ofcourse not."

Arthurs expression lightened up.

Yuna casually pointed toward a pile of wooden blocks nearby and said, "See those wooden logs over there you can start a fire with them? Behind this mansion there’s a forest. You can get everything you need from there for sustenance."

Arthur blinked slowly before staring at her in disbelief. "Oh come on," he groaned. "Don’t be that cruel."

Yuna crossed her arms and replied bluntly, "It’s not my fault you lost."

Arthur clenched his teeth again but swallowed his anger once more.

After a long sigh he asked, "How long do I have to live like this?"

Yuna answered immediately, "Ten days."

Arthur’s eyes widened slightly.

"After ten days you will fight Julia again," Yuna continued calmly. "If you win, the punishment ends. But if you lose, you’ll continue living like this until the end of time."

Arthur felt like he was getting a migraine.

Yuna looked directly at him and said firmly, "Remember this well. Only winners deserve comfort and luxury. Losers only struggle and give up.

Arthur stared blankly into the distance and muttered hopelessly, "This... can’t possibly get worse."

Yuna immediately replied, "You’re wrong. It absolutely can."

Arthur remained silent this time as he didn’t want to hear anything further.

But Yuna continued mercilessly, "From now on you are not allowed to use healing potions, healing artifacts, or any recovery skills."

Arthur froze.

"Nothing," she repeated calmly. "If you try to use anything, I’ll know."

She gestured around the training ground and added casually, "Also the surveillance system here is very tight, so I don’t need to watch you personally every moment."

Arthur slowly looked around and noticed small monitoring devices hidden around the area.

His mouth slowly fell open.

And it stayed open.

’This place is hell,’ he thought weakly.

His eyes slowly turned toward Yuna.

’And she... is the ruler of this hell. I swear I will get back at her for this in the future.’

Yuna suddenly clapped her hands and smiled brightly as she said, "You look pretty happy... but now is not the time to slack off. Get ready, we’re starting the first phase of your training."

Arthur stared at her like a man who had just accepted his fate and screamed helplessly, "Please... give me a break."
