Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 520: Journey Across Continents (18)
Third Person’s POV
When Altheria finally finished speaking, the room fell silent, and even the faint rustle of the floating scroll seemed to quiet.
Isha felt a faint ripple of amusement at Altheria’s attempt to soften Nyx’s anger, but she wisely kept that reaction hidden as revealing it now would only worsen the already heavy atmosphere in the chamber.
The silence deepened, but slowly, the room began to fill with a dark and foreboding aura.
Nyx had not released her power deliberately, yet the killing intent radiating from her eyes was impossible to ignore.
Her golden pupils burned with a frosty gleam that made even Isha and Altheria feel a thin layer of cold sweat forming beneath their calm expressions.
They could both sense that Nyx had truly gone serious now that she had made up her mind to kill the dark emperor, Dajjal.
However, before that oppressive silence could deepen further, Altheria suddenly raised her hand again and pointed toward a smaller section written beside the diagram detailing the Life-Stealing Abyssal Hex.
"There is one last part about this specific curse," she said, her voice cutting through the tension.
"And it is the fact that this curse also has another weakness."
The moment she said those words, even Isha leaned slightly closer, unable to suppress her curiosity.
"Another weakness?"
Altheria nodded slowly.
"The record states that extremely deep frost energy can suppress the curse runes, or to be more specific, it can push them into a dormant state, but the frost required for it is not some ordinary ice."
She glanced toward Nyx.
"It must be a form of frost powerful enough to freeze life force itself."
Nyx’s eyes flickered faintly at that statement.
She suddenly exhaled deeply and closed her eyes.
For a brief moment, her long lashes trembled as if something inside her mind had shifted, and when she opened them again, her voice carried an unusual calm.
"It seems that when something is inevitable," she said quietly, "no amount of power or clever methods can truly prevent it."
The statement was spoken plainly, yet it made both Altheria and Isha fall into deep confusion.
Their curiosity rose instantly as it was clear that Nyx had just revealed something significant that was most likely a hidden truth.
Seeing their puzzled expressions, Nyx ignored Isha entirely and turned her gaze toward Altheria instead.
"So many years have passed since you first met him," she said slowly. "
Yet I never told you where he came from... or what his true origins are before I chose to take him as my disciple."
Altheria blinked in surprise, and then realization that Nyx was right struck her, causing her to nod slowly.
She had indeed never asked Nyx about Ethan’s past.
Seeing her reaction, Nyx let out a quiet sigh and began to speak.
She described Ethan’s origins on the Dark Star Continent, the land of his birth, his homeland, and the circumstances surrounding his life before she had ever encountered him.
She revealed the most important truth of all, that Ethan was not purely human but was half human and half demon.
She also explained how, eight years earlier, during his awakening ceremony in his hometown within the Northern Glacial Region of the Dark Star Continent, a mysterious and malevolent spirit had interfered with the ritual.
The spirit had torn open a spatial fracture and hurled the young Ethan across the world, crossing continents in the process.
He had been thrown into the depths of the wilderness within the Dark Forest that was far from everything he had ever known.
When Nyx finished recounting his origins, both Altheria and Isha felt a sudden spark of realization, and their eyes lit up.
Altheria immediately floated forward and stopped directly in front of Nyx, her crimson eyes shining with unmistakable excitement as a sudden thought formed in her mind.
"Then... are you thinking...?" she asked, unable to hide the anticipation in her voice.
Nyx nodded once.
"Yes."
Her answer was simple, but her voice carried a firm certainty that left no room for doubt.
She lowered her gaze toward Ethan’s placid face resting quietly in her arms before continuing to speak.
"I will take him home."
Her golden eyes softened for the briefest moment as she looked at the young man’s pale expression.
"To the Dark Star Continent."
The faint softness vanished almost instantly, and her gaze hardened again as she continued,
"Away from Dajjal... and away from this blood-soaked and filth-covered continent, into the deep, frozen silence of the Aurora Frost Mountains."
As she finished speaking, Nyx slowly lifted her head and looked out through the open window of the tower.
The night sky had already settled over the Sanctum Realm.
High above, the Blood Moon hung silently in the heavens, glowing with its usual mysterious crimson light as though it were quietly observing everything happening below.
Nyx stared at it for a moment before continuing. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"As for Dajjal," she said calmly,
"I will return and finish him after that. By normal expectations, the Flame Demon will most likely begin the war by tomorrow."
She glanced briefly toward Altheria.
"And I know you will join that war, as it is what the world would expect of you after what happened, though it is the same thing that you also want."
Altheria nodded slowly, acknowledging the truth in Nyx’s words.
Nyx continued while her golden eyes narrowed slightly,
"As for me, I will strike only once, and when I do that...I will end this matter once and for all."
A sharp gleam flashed in her eyes, and the quiet killing intent behind those words did not need to be spoken aloud.
Altheria gave another small nod, though Isha remained silent and didn’t react in any way, as she understood perfectly well that her presence here had already stretched the limits of what could be considered a not so secret visit anymore.
At the same time, she convinced herself that she was not related to Ethan anyway, so there was no reason for her to involve herself any further with this matter.
