Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 519: Journey Across Continents (17)
Third Person’s POV
Her gaze flickered briefly toward Ethan’s unmoving body.
"And forget about breaking the curse... even his recovery to normal and his future strength progress will become increasingly difficult."
She gestured faintly toward the distant horizon beyond the tower walls.
"This place is already far too close to the Empire of Abyssal Dominion."
Altheria then lowered her eyes to the parchment again and continued reading, though her voice became quieter the more she spoke,
"And if he were somehow taken into the territory of the Abyssal Dominion...then the curse would awaken completely."
She paused for a moment before finishing the line written on the scroll.
"And once fully awakened, it will begin devouring his life force directly."
Her expression darkened further.
"At the same time, it will act as a beacon and will continuously reveal Ethan’s location to the caster, that is, to none other than Dajjal, and to anyone under his command."
The room grew noticeably colder while Altheria sighed faintly and shook her head.
"And knowing Dajjal’s nature...he will surely take advantage of that greedy old man by offering him the temptation of Ethan’s Dark Overlord Origin."
The moment the words Dark Overlord Origin left her mouth, Nyx’s eyes flashed sharply as the suspicion she had silently carried until now had finally been confirmed.
That had been the question she had intended to ask both Altheria and Isha, but she no longer needed to, as even they were aware of it now.
Meanwhile, Isha’s expression hardened as she spoke again.
"And what about breaking the curse?"
Her tone was calm, but the tension hidden beneath it was obvious.
At that, Altheria slowly shook her head.
"It is impossible by force."
Her voice turned colder as she looked at Ethan’s body.
"The Codex clearly states that any attempt to tear the curse away from the victim will cause the curse runes to detonate, and when they do, the victim will die instantly."
The words fell heavily into the room.
Nyx’s fingers tightened slightly around Ethan’s shoulder, though she said nothing.
However, the faint shift in her expression was enough to make Altheria worry that she might do something reckless in anger. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
So she quickly continued speaking in order to soften the tension.
"But fortunately," she added hurriedly, "we already know that such a thing will not happen."
She pointed lightly at the parchment again.
"Dajjal would never detonate the runes of this Life Stealing Abyssal Hex himself, as doing so would destroy Ethan completely, and that would mean losing the very prize for which he created this entire catastrophe and grand mess in the first place."
She glanced briefly toward Nyx as she silently mouthed the words,
"The Dark Overlord Origin."
But just as Altheria finished speaking, she was abruptly interrupted by Nyx’s cold voice.
"Enough of this nonsense," Nyx said flatly, her golden eyes fixed upon Altheria with an icy sharpness.
"Who exactly are you trying to coax here, Altheria? No one present in this room is a child."
Her voice carried a chilling calm that made the air itself feel heavier.
"Stop wasting time with empty reassurance and tell me the actual method to dissolve this curse once and for all.
And it should happen without harming Ethan’s life in the process and without damaging his future progress on the path to power, and if you are not capable of finding me that, then give me the curse record; I will find the solution myself."
The words struck like cold steel.
Altheria visibly cringed under the blunt reprimand and couldn’t help but feel that Nyx was being too forceful and dominating.
Her scarlet eyes flickered with a trace of embarrassment and annoyance that she didn’t dare show for now, given Nyx’s mental state.
She was fully aware that her earlier attempt to soften the situation had been rather half-hearted, and Nyx had seen straight through it.
Nevertheless, she gathered herself and turned her attention back to the floating curse record.
Carefully reading the remaining lines that described the bloodbound curse, she finally spoke the answer Nyx had been waiting for.
"The only way to completely dissolve the curse while meeting all the conditions you mentioned... is the death of the caster."
Her voice was serious now, stripped of any attempt at comfort.
"But there is an important condition."
She lifted her gaze and met Nyx’s eyes directly.
"When that moment comes, Ethan must be as far away from the caster as possible."
Her expression grew darker as she continued.
"If he is anywhere near Dajjal and if he realizes that his death is imminent, he may trigger the curse runes binding Ethan out of desperation as a final dying act.
And if that happens, the runes will detonate instantly, killing Ethan on the spot, and everything we do before that moment would become meaningless."
Altheria paused briefly before continuing.
"And I am not speaking casually and without understanding the mechanism behind it."
She tapped a specific portion of the scroll again and traced the small black lines with her small fingers.
"The only weakness of this overpowered bloodbound curse lies in distance, so the further the victim moves away from the caster, the weaker the parasitic connection becomes."
"And eventually, the victim may slip beyond the caster’s control entirely."
As she said this, her scarlet eyes flickered thoughtfully.
"But Dajjal could never have imagined that we would discover such a secret like this curse record that contains such a specific weakness of such a rare and niche curse, something that even many members of his own bloodline might not know about."
She glanced at the ancient parchment floating before them.
"I am certain that this document is not merely rare or valuable, but it is the critical weakness of the Malakar royal family that they might not even be aware of."
Her gaze hardened.
"According to my guess, it must have been created by a powerful figure in ancient times—someone who wished to leave behind a warning to future generations about the treachery of the foul darkness flowing through that family’s blood."
