Chapter 450: Re-entry

Ezra follows Frederick into the mansion, stepping into a space that exuded both luxury and practicality.

The interior was a seamless blend of modern design and Oranian tradition, with sleek furniture set against walls adorned with intricate embroidered designs made after rune signs.

Such a sight had Ezra recoil, his mind molding a thought he hadn’t considered.

’Would he really want to risk his life following me after this kind of comfort?’ Ezra wonders.

"So? Is it time?" Frederick questions, portraying excitement and breaking Ezra out of his reverie, leaving the latter blinking as though stunned.

"Hmm? But you look very comfortable here. I thought you wouldn’t want to be taking such risks anymore"

"What?" Frederick replies, slightly chuckling, "Come with me?"

Beckoning Ezra, Frederick opens up an underground compartment, lit up with blue lights.

’Oh?’

This compartment lay fitted with different kinds of training tools, all of which lay sprawled all over the place.

But the most eye-catching items are by the numerous mana crystals embedded into the wall constantly exuding mana, causing a dense concentration within the training room.

Seeing this, Ezra reminisces with a smile on his face to the times he too had looted hoarded mana stones and stolen mana stones.

’How time flies’ he thinks, before suddenly facepalming.

’I can’t believe I forgot to tell Frederick that mana doesn’t help cultivation at the Transcendent rank’

Clicking his tongue in self mockery, Ezra glances around, noting the signs of wear and tear on the training equipment.

The sparring dummies-made of iron, no less-were battered, some partially destroyed, and the weight racks looked like they had been pushed to their limits.

Sweat stains on the mats and faint scorch marks on the iron walls told the story of relentless effort.

"You’ve been working hard," Ezra observed, his tone laced with approval.

Frederick laughed, scratching the back of his head. "Well, I didn’t want to embarrass myself when you came back. Everyone’s been doing their part. Vanessa, Theron, and the rest—none of us want to be left behind"

"Although" he continues. "It has been a while since I last saw them"

Ezra nodded, his chest swelling with pride.

He had expected his companions to progress, but seeing Frederick’s determination firsthand was something else entirely.

This wasn’t just training out of duty or obligation; it was ambition, pure and simple.

Frederick wasn’t content to stand still, and that alone made him invaluable.

"I have to admit," Ezra began, crossing his arms, "When I came inside, I wasn’t sure if you would want to continue this journey. I mean, look at this place"

He gestured to the training room, then up toward the mansion. "You’ve built something impressive here—stable, comfortable. Most people wouldn’t trade that for the unknown."

Frederick shook his head, his face serious. "Comfort is fleeting, Ezra. What you’re offering—what you’re chasing—is something bigger. I want to be a part of that"

Ezra smiled, the tension he’d been carrying melting away. "It’s good to hear that. Truly."

Turning to Ezra, Frederick stretches his arms wide.

"I have been training here for over a year now ever since you left so I didn’t become a burden to you!" he proclaims, visibly excited.

"Those books you brought, those other things, the world you told us of. I wish to see all of it with my own eyes. Right now, I feel like a big fish in a small pond and so I want to broaden my knowledge and see just how wide the uni-yuni...?"

"Universe" Ezra chips in, slightly chuckling

"Yes, that" Frederick nods. "I want to see how wide it really is"

"It seems I was needlessly worried..." Ezra’s eyes sparkle. "It seems it will take some time to clean all this up, I’ll be back once I talk to the others. By the way, where are they?"

"They are in Quartez" Frederick replies, "Under that huge...dome, yes, that dome of mana you created. They stayed there to train"

"Okay"

With that succinct reply, Ezra teleports with <sovereign movement>, fading from Frederick’s sight like a mirage.

—-------

An instant later, Ezra arrives in front of the large mana dome Zydrax created.

Before he could even say words, he finds himself covered in a shower of dust.

*Ka-ka-ga-bam!*

Moving his head in the direction of the sounds resounding behind him, he’s quick to note two people fighting, flashing across both ground and air, kicking up shockwaves that send the ground rumbling and reverberating.

Such events had to be frequent because a single look at the surrounding earth finds it cracked, crattered, and scorched.

At Ezra’s level, such people might as well be leisurely jogging. He could see and make out their movements as clear as day.

He identifies both figures...well, only partially, as they both currently looked like beasts—literally.

Both of heads had turned into wolves, but distinguished themselves by their skin colour, red and grey respectively.

Ezra intends to intervene when suddenly....

*VOOOM*

The red wolf opens his mouth wide, generating a ball of fire that soon balloons to a ginormous scale, before being set off towards the opponent, enveloping the surroundings and atmosphere in massive heat.

To this, the grey wolf’s body glows a bright blue before swinging his arms in a wide arc, releasing a blade of mana that precisely slices into the ginormous fireball before both elements clash and combust.

Causing a massive explosion.

*Boom!*

Inevitably, it kicks up a storm of dust which descends upon everything in the close surroundings, including Ezra.

To this, he simply gestures with his hand, blowing away the section of dust seeking to envelop him.

While doing this, he picks up familiar voices in the distance.

"Those fools! I told them to move further away before sparring, now my hair is rumpled!"

"It’s no use, elder sister. You know they don’t listen"

"Sigh..."

’What a ruckus’ Ezra remarks. Shaking his head while smiling.

At this moment, the two protagonists of the mayhem descended.

Literally, they fell straight down to the ground, landing on their feet, causing another violent rumble and of course, kicking up another tide of dust.

At this, even Ezra became annoyed.

The two strut towards the barrier, their forms changing rapidly as they did.

On cue, a gleaming silver object shoots right through the barrier of mana and heads for the red wolf.

Rather anything climatic, the red wolf casually swings his arm, swatting the object to the side to have it embedded in the ground.

Only to then begin massaging his palms right after. "Ouch! That hurt!"

’No wait. Looking closely, he looks more like a fox, not a wolf’ Ezra observes.

Rather than any verbal replies, he receives a barrage of the same silver projectiles, to which he is forced to dodge in haste, with a few slicing through his skin.

Only then does the verbal reply come.

"YOU IDIOT!" screams his attacker, who exits the barrier a moment later.

With red hair flailing in the hair, the screaming persona came right into view.

Roxanne, taller and definitely more powerful than before, lashes out at her brothers.

"How many times do I have to tell you to move far away before you start throwing fire around? Huh???!"

’Wow’

Even from a distance, her rage is palpable.

With his body returning to its normal disposition, Theron’s face becomes clear visible as he tries to placate Roxanne.

"Roxanne, wait. I know I’m in the wrong, but why aren’t attacking him at all?" Theron questions, pointing towards the grey wolf who turns out to be Ashton.

"Because he’s the younger brother who doesn’t know better than to follow his foolish older brothers!"

"That’s discrimination!" Theron proclaims.

"Whatever!" Roxanne replies, tossing out more of her feather daggers.

But as she would, the sound of unfamiliar laughter caught her attention.

Same thing for Theron and Ashton.

Squinting their eyes to locate where the laughter is resonating from, they soon land upon a lone figure in back clothes cackling to himself.

Instantly on guard, the trio turn to their attention to him.

"Who are you? Identify yourself!"

In response, they get a booming laughter filled reply.

"Hahaha! You guys haven’t changed a single bit"

Forgoing the words said, the familiar voice catches them completely offguard.

Ezra watches the trio with amusement, shaking his head at their antics.

The tension in the air is palpable as the three warriors stand frozen, their eyes widening in recognition.

Slowly, a mix of disbelief and joy begins to replace their guarded expressions.

"Ezra?" Roxanne’s voice cracks as she steps forward, her earlier fury forgotten.

Her red hair glints in the faint light of the mana dome, and her feather daggers disappear back into her skin.

Theron and Ashton exchange glances, their faces mirroring Roxanne’s incredulity.

Ashton breaks the silence first, his voice tinged with both awe and excitement. "You’re back. You’re really back."

"EZRA!"

From behind, an even louder shout is heard, with Velora exiting the dome and running towards Ezra.

To this, Ezra flashes a wide smile, bringing his teeth into full view as he waves his arms.

With the trio closing in, Ezra spreads his arms, his smile growing wider and his voice loud an clear.

"It’s good to see you all again. Though I must say, you’ve certainly found... creative ways to welcome me."

He gestures at the scorched battlefield around them, the lingering dust still settling.

Closing the distance between them in a few swift strides, Roxanne wastes no time before punching Ezra lightly on the shoulder.

Though her strength makes it sting a bit. "You idiot! How long were you planning to stay away? Do you know how much chaos you’ve missed?"

Ezra chuckles, rubbing his shoulder. "I see you haven’t lost your flair for dramatics."

Theron and Ashton approach more cautiously, their faces still a mix of awe and uncertainty.

Ashton, now back in his human form, looks older and more seasoned, but his youthful energy remains. "You could’ve warned us, you know. Just dropping in like that... you almost caused my heart to stop"

"Hehe" Ezra chuckles. "I’ll be careful next time"

"Hey! Wait for me!" Shouts Velora as she caught up with everyone else.

Johan, who had accompanied her, simply stood, observing Ezra in silence and blinking multiple times before speaking with a surprised face.

"Ehhhhh? It really is you"

Ezra knocks his head. "Of course it’s me! Who else did you expect it to be?"

"Well, I expected some kind of grand entrance...this is not that"

"Oh?"

His eyes flared and Ezra vanishes, reappearing the air above where he proceeds to release a massive portions of his energy in an outburst, creating a burst of colours in the sky around them.

Ezra’s display of energy ignited the sky with radiant hues, the sheer intensity of his power sending ripples through the air.

The swirling colors—blues, reds and gold—danced, illuminating the cracked ground and casting long shadows across the scorched battlefield.

Those below had to slightly shield their eyes from its blinding brilliance.

The vibrant energy lingers for several seconds before slowly dissipating, leaving behind a stillness that was almost deafening.
