Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 383: Revenge Complete
Chapter 383: Revenge Complete
"But this universe is in my soul space, does this mean I can absorb astral energy?" Ezra inquires.
[We can’t be sure of that yet but one thing is definitely true, in this way, you’re immune to astral energy] Zydrax spoke slowly.
"Have you ever heard about such a thing before?" Ezra remarked.
[Nope, Never. From my knowledge, the only items immune to astral energy are those made from the bones of astral beasts] Zydrax answers.
"I see, so then, the constitution of a sovereign is immune to astral energy"
[Not exactly. Rather, I think you’re immune to all pure energy attacks now since your soul would simply absorb it into this universe]
"That’s even better" Ezra intoned. "But does this mean I cultivate astral energy?"
[...It should be possible for you. But I don’t recommend it] Zydrax replied. [Even if you’re immune to it, the energies will still clash as there are inherently opposites and that would lead to problems beyond my knowledge. So it would be best to leave such things untested]
’I’ll do that’ Ezra nodded. ’This seems to be the most shocking discovery we’ve made so far’
[Indeed, and it will have a large impact in future battles]
’How wonderful’ Ezra exclaimed, smiling in glee. ’I feel like going to hunt astral beasts right now just to test this out’
[You shouldn’t be too excited, this isn’t all good. You’re forgetting something] Zydrax’s words snapped Ezra out of his fantasies.
’What is it?’
[A portion of the main universe is covered in astral energy that is populated with astral beasts who love to eat planets] Zydrax recited, before throwing out a question. [Don’t you think if you absorb enough astral energy, the same could happen here]
Envisioning such a scene sent shivers down Ezra’s spine.
’I hadn’t thought of that at all!’
The realization that such a possibility should occur shook him.
[While I don’t know main cause behind their appearance, it has something to do with how the astral sea came to be and I hope you don’t intend to find out]
’I don’t. Thank you for reminding me about that’ Ezra answers, making a light sigh. ’So, I can’t just absorb astral energy recklessly
[Yes]
Ezra shakes his head helplessly. ’Just when I thought fighting astral beasts would be a breeze now. The universe decides to slap me in the face, at this point I wonder if I should even be surprised anymore’
[So what’s next on your list]
’I’m unsure, I’ll have to find something to do while waiting for the others to complete their objectives before I can step in to play my part’ Ezra responded.
’Let’s see...I’m yet to master the system skills, so practising takes priority, and I’ll have to study extensively on Niton-no-Lexon, to come up with policies ahead of time and polish the plan some more. Also, I should take this chance to remove rotten roots that could cause a hindrance in the future, and lastly...complete my revenge?’
Going over the list of things once again, Ezra was exasperated.
He’d been unsure of what to be doing just moments ago, only to find that there were actually a lot of things on ground that needed his activity.
[I thought you gave up taking revenge]
’I did’ Ezra replies. ’However, if they are still up to no good, then it wouldn’t be a problem to send them to their graves...although I won’t deny that I still have lingering feeling of anger towards them’
[I can’t judge you for that. See to it however you wish]
Ezra nodded. Arriving in Quartez the next instant.
Caressing Severus, Ezra let out a breath in contemplation at the long road ahead of him, before ruminating on which task to start first.
After a bout of intellect with himself, Ezra started with the study of Lexon.
Studying the major and minor powers of the continent, Ezra contacted Frederick multiple times with <Mind cloud> to confirm many things and later visited Black Sky to obtain their most detailed version of multiple maps, one for each kingdom and one for the continent as a whole.
Like this, days turned to weeks, and as he studied the maps, Ezra went around the continent to confirm its accuracy, ending the lives of many evil people and destroying many organizations whose purpose would bring harm to the people or become a hindrance along the way.
While he was at it, Ezra occasionally mingled with commoners and interacted with them to better understand their struggles before then writing it so that the machine to be created would be dedicated to solving these pressing matters.
Hence, allowing for faster integration into society which would in turn fuel technological advancement and eventually cause a paradigm shift.
On Frederick’s side, he was responsible for making the biggest moves.
Rolling out what he called the literacy empowerment plan, schools of various sizes were built in every city that Black Jaws had a branch, which meant there were built across the whole empire and rather than arrogant scholars, mercenaries were hired as teachers, guild members that had learned to read and write as per Black Jaws having made it an optional criteria that gave access to higher wages and better jobs.
With a school of commoners already built years before, Frederick had built enough experience to lead such a massive project.
As expected, the nobles clamoured as they always would, swarming Triton with all sorts of complaints, but as if to spit in their face, Triton actively pushed the literacy empowerment plan to the commoners, surprising everyone.
To sway the mind, he quoted it to be a necessary step to becoming a greater nation, quoting that should the majority of commoners become literate, they would an abundance of personnel which would prove as a step in surpassing Vonnamor to which they’ve been second fiddle to all this while and claim the title of first.
Moreover, since Black Jaws was the one doing the spending, it only made sense that they supported, at least in face of the public, to earn fame at no cost.
Striking at their ego and pride, the nobles eventually grew to find the idea appealing, after a section of them took advantage and earned fame the rest to actively support it as Triton suggested, making it into a trend.
Of course, only a very small minority donated even a single coin, but thanks to their clamouring, the commoners had a shift in mindset, and were no longer averse to it and instead actively sought to out the schools, with many even joining to help build the schools in exchange for tuition for either themselves or their children, thus speeding things up by a good amount.
Frederick was delighted. This meant the subsequent stages of the plan could be implemented earlier than anticipated and it proved that their method worked.
During the same time, Vanessa had already introduced engineering to the teachers of the royal academy, intent on making sure each one had a grasp on the subject and even going as far as to hire expert blacksmiths to join in so as to facilitate faster progress.
At this point, two months had already passed since the plan was put in place.
The rest were also fulfilling their roles, uprooting assassin organizations whilst also getting rid of powerful, authoritative figures marked to be a clear hindrance to their plan in the future.
Ironic.
Others went beyond the continent to get items needed for different purposes, and even survey the movement of other large kingdoms.
Meanwhile, as this went on, Ezra took his time to visit all those that had betrayed him and those that stood by his side in his past life and began watching their actions.
While he truly had let go of his obsession, sleeves of anger still lingered in his heart.
Ezra was doing this to wash the anger away and conclude this arduous matter once and for all.
It was time to let the past stay in the past.
Having incorporated Marcus-a friend of his previous life and the knight that killed him-into Black Jaws long ago, he had grown up to be a better disciplined fellow.
Though some bad parts of his character had inevitably remained, he was now completely different from how he had been in his past life.
But not many were like that. For the most part, Ezra found that most of the terrible people in his past life were still such terrible people even in this life, and dealt with them accordingly.
Making sure to torture them just as he’d imagined, Ezra was dejected to see that he couldn’t feel neither ecstasy nor joy from the act like he’d imagined countless times.
Yet now, he barely felt anything.
Regardless, Ezra made sure to test out multiple styles of torture and examine just how much pain they could truly withstand.
Many of them, begging to die, would begin spilling dark secrets about others, many of which Ezra hadn’t even known about beforehand.
This made him spend far more time than initially intended, weeding out rotten figures in Vonnamor incessantly, without care for rank, Ezra killed one-third of the entire nobility and these people were spread across ten cities.
With the killer seemingly invincible, it caused a very dark cloud to hover above Vonnamor as it was proven again and again that no one was safe.
To finish things off, Ezra woke Alexis Lancaster in the middle of the night.
He was the fourth prince of the Vonnamor Empire and Ezra’s liege during his time as Kevin.
Incredibly startled, Alexis gulped audibly and simply stared at Ezra, too afraid to move.
As Ezra vanishes from sight, Alexis finds his vision spinning. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
He had been decapitated in the time it took to blink.
Ezra had no desire to exchange words.
Through surveillance, he had learnt all that he needed to know, and was relieved once again, that he had truly been a fool.
