Chapter 373: Sorry? The proposed amount is too lacking!

Sidal stretched out his hand for a handshake.

"Cheers to a successful partnership"

"Likewise" Ezra shook it and both men smiled before breaking off the handshake.

Sidal felt he was the happiest man in the world at this moment, and his reptilian eyes were almost glowing.

Convincing Ezra had been far easier than he imagined, he had never met such an easy going Transcendent until now.

But befitting his nature as a merchant, Sidal quickly settled down.

With their partnership official, other agreements should proceed much faster. But he had to make sure his client was comfortable first.

"Would you like to continue or should we stop here for today?" Sidal inquired.

Ezra shook his head. "Let us continue onto other matters"

There were many other things Ezra planned to do, so it’d be best to finish the arrangements all at once.

Sidal nodded, they could now start talking about other things.

"I guess this means you won’t be taking the astral beast corpse back?" he probed.

Ezra furrowed his brows. "I would like to leave it with you, but can the defences of this facility be trusted? Can it hold up against a Transcendent’s attack?"

"That’s..." Sidal remarked, having not thought of that.

"Let’s do this instead" said Ezra. "You will drain all of its blood in a container and hand it to me along with the corpse for safekeeping until I’m ready to process it"

"Alright" Sidal concurred, as none of their storage facilities could endure the attack of a Transcendent, it would be unwise for them to keep it here only for it to be stolen.

Moreover, in the event that happened, with the exclusive contract signed, AlphaNova would have to reimburse Ezra for their carelessness.

"Also, I’d like to be there when the blood is being refined"

"Hmm, that’s a tough request"

"What are you worried about? I’ve already signed the contract, so it’s not like I can refine it elsewhere"

"But if I allow that, you might decide to refine it yourself’

Ezra raised his palm towards Sidal’s face and shook his head. "That won’t happen. It would take a very long for me to be become proficient in alchemy and I’m not fond of such activities"

Letting Ezra supervise the alchemist would annoy Albas who would feel like he was either not being trusted or being looked down on.

Seeing Sidal struggle for an answer, a new idea came to Ezra’s mind.

"How about helping me with training alchemists instead?"

"What do you mean?"

"I’m close with a few alchemists who haven’t had the opportunity to receive better guidance, could you place them by Albas’ side for training?"

"It’s not impossible" Sidal replied, but they would have to sign a contract that disallows them from teaching their craft to others, and they would work for our company for a period of time once their training is over"

"Deal" Ezra concurred, "It will take some time to fetch them but I will inform you once I do"

"Of course" Sidal replied.

’I wonder how Bard is going to feel when I bring him here’ Ezra chuckled thinking about it.

It abjectly occurred to him that he would eventually have to bring more members of Orion out into the outer world.

’It would be best if I could secure books and some gadgets the next time I visited Orion’

That made his second objective when added to his scheduled trip into Orion’s oceans.

As for where to get such items he simply had to request it from Sidal, but he put that aside, it would be better to do that once he had money on hand.

"Mr. Sylvester, do you intend to sell all the astral elixirs to the red dragon clan?"

"Hmm, I cannot ascertain that"

Sidal’s expression brightened with a smile. "Would you be willing to give me one of the elixirs?"

"Give you?" Ezra raised a brow. Did he hear that right?

"It seems I’ve misspoken. I’m not asking you to give me the astral elixir for free. Instead, I would like to auction one of the astral elixirs in one of our main auction houses. Our main auction houses are more reputed, holding only once a month. As such, the main auction is always filled with influential and very rich individuals, the astral elixir will sell for a very good price. Of course, the profits will still go to Mr. Sylvester"

"Why are you willing to auction it and get nothing in return?" Ezra asked doubtfully.

Sidal shook his head. "Not for nothing. Once it’s known that the astral elixir came from my hands, my fame would skyrocket and my standing in the company would tremendously increase. I would get promoted at least once"

Ezra nodded in realization. "I see. I guess I should congratulate you on your promotion in advance"

"Thank you" Sidal smiled.

"But" said Sidal, straightening his glasses. "Since I don’t yet have much standing in the company, placing an item for main auction will cost me a bit, since by now, the items to be auctioned have would’ve already been decided"

Ezra’s eyes narrowed. "What do you want?"

"Five percent of the profits from the sale of the elixir"

Staring intensely, Ezra raised one finger, speaking in a slow tone "One percent"

"Four percent"

"One percent"

"Three percent"

"One percent"

"Two percent"

"Deal" Ezra concurred.

Sidal was also smiling, he hadn’t mentioned that just the revenue he would earn from Ezra’s processing would be enough for one promotion.

With the astral elixir added, he might become an executive in one fell swoop. So he didn’t lose at all.

Honestly, once he confirmed with the auctioneers that it was an astral elixir, they would be delighted to auction it even for free!

So, he just earned himself a few more bucks.

Stretching his neck, Ezra yawns. "It seems we’re done here?"

"Yes it does" said Sidal. "Albas"

Stationed beside the security guards, he walked towards them with haste. "Sir?"

"Take the blood sample and calculate how we’ll need to turn seven thousand liters into elixirs. I want it done in two days"

"You have my word" Albas replied, taking out a few more tubes to fill with astral blood before then leaving to begin his research.

Finally discharged after standing for an hour, Albas hummed a happy tune as he exited the base.

Ezra and Sidal exchanged numbers.

In the meantime, the astral blood was stored in a container with space storage properties whilst the platform holding the blood before receded and the floor promptly set back in place.

It was only as tall as Sidal-who is shorter than Ezra by the way-yet managed to contain more than seven thousand liters of blood.

Using , he stored the beast corpse and the container within his universe.

"I will notify you once the blacksmith arrives"

"Alright. How long do I have to wait for my remuneration?"

"Two days at most"

Ezra nodded. "Then, I will be leaving-

At this moment, a security guard interrupted, speaking with urgency.

"Sir, people from the Rosveller Foundation are in front of the base!"

Sidal abruptly stood up, "Apologies, I need to handle this"

"No worries" Ezra waved his hands. "I was about leaving anyway"

Nodding, Sidal excused himself, taking all the security guards along with him, leaving only the head officer that had stood in their midst.

Ezra remained seated, waiting for the commotion to die out before leaving, with the head officer taking the second seat.

"I hope things went well?" said the head officer, setting the mood.

Ezra straightened his posture and smiled, nodding lightly. "It did. Thank you for asking"

"Ah" Ezra remembered. "Could I get your number? It would nice to meet the next time I come here"

"Surely"

Getting the head officer’s number, Ezra sensed an entourage of people approaching.

’Guess it’s time to leave’

Getting to know more people wasn’t in Ezra’s agenda.

Rising from his seat, Ezra faced the head officer.

"Head officer, I’ll see you another time"

Before the head officer could respond, Ezra used on himself and promptly vanished.

Leaving a bewildered head officer with his mouth open.

Recovering his composure, an entourage appeared in front of the base, with someone walking beside Sidal.

"Head officer, the council requests your presence immediately"

The head officer jumped to his feet upon hearing that.

******

Within a hall, five people, all suited in black sat at a round table listening as the head officer finished his words.

This is the council that governed Cretin hub and they were all merchants of the Rosveller Foundation.

Naturally, he had omitted the part where the red dragon clan reinforcements tried to attack them, as well as the fact that Ezra didn’t seem to have any backing.

Having listened to the head officer’s story from start to finish without interrupting him, they immediately began throwing out questions the moment he was done.

Well, in the first place, the lack of interruption was because anyone that tried to ask a question was shushed by the others.

"You’re saying a rank two Transcendent killed the astral beast on his own? You expect us to believe that?!"

Maintaining an impassive face, the head officer simply let off a few words in reply.

"You can ask Mr. Sidal and his entire security team to verify my claims"

"Hoo..." the one who spoke let out a breath as all five looked at one another before one person said what they were all thinking. "Another monstrous fellow has appeared"

In the first place, the head officer was a very trustworthy fellow who didn’t know to scheme, making him a promising employee despite sometimes causing trouble with other higher-ups sometimes.

"Where is he now?" another asked with urgency.

Blinking for a few seconds, the head officer spoke slowly, "I do not know"

"You don’t know?!"

The head officer nodded, "He used his spatial abilities and vanished"

"Then, do you have his contact?"

"Ah. I do not"

"You do not?!"

The head officer affirmed it a second time, before giving them a ray of hope so they wouldn’t lambast him for the next hour.

"But Mr. Sidal might have his number"

"Sidal? Good, having him come here immediately"

"Yes sir"

The head officer was about to make a hasty exit when another called him.

"The reinforcements from the red dragon clan were the ones that reported to us that they saw you along with the mercenary, and they sounded displeased. Do you know why?"

The head officer froze a bit before replying. "The mercenary sent the astral beast’s corpse into some sort of subspace and then said some things to them that unfortunately didn’t hear, that could be why. Moreover, it seemed that he was someone familiar to them"

Telling them about Ezra storing the beast in a subspace was not new information since Sidal and his entire security team had seen him use that skill.

With that answered, the head officer was finally able to escape.

******

In no time, Sidal was dragged in front of the council and grilled for information as well.

Confirming that he indeed had Ezra’s number, they ordered to immediately call him under the pretext of having the council wanting to meet him in person so they could personally thank him and hand him his remunerations.

Thankfully, Ezra was not within his universe at this time-he was scouting about the planets where the mastermind behind the attacks on Orion lay, having got here through a gate after leaving a beforehand-so the call went through.

He decided to only go sightseeing in the ocean after finishing up with things with Sidal and to make use of his time, he decided to scout this area.

Picking up Sidal’s message, Ezra was informed of the situation at hand.

"I understand. I’ll be there in a bit"

Having recorded the coordinates of Cretin with ,

Ezra teleports soon after, appearing in the hotel room he had previously stayed in.

Appearing, he holds his stomach with a pained expression as his organs realigned.

Honestly, without demon blood in his veins, this skill would’ve definitely killed him the first time.

’Although, it seems I recovered faster this time?’ Ezra wondered, not quite sure.

Upon straightening himself, he realizes a fellow was standing against the toilet door with his trousers still unbuttoned, staring at him as if frozen in place.

Luckily, his third leg was not exposed.

Coughing to hide the awkwardness, Ezra made a hasty exit.

He then called Sidal and told him to send someone to pick him up.

In no time, Ezra was driven to the inner parts of Cretin, where the council was waiting for him.

Escorted, Ezra was led to the designated hall.

Entering, he immediately surveys the surroundings. frёewebηovel.cѳm

’Mr. Sidal isn’t here’ he noted. ’I don’t know what they’re trying to do, but I won’t go along with it’

"It’s a pleasure to meet members of the Rosveller Foundation" Ezra offers his greetings.

"Likewise, it is a pleasure to meet our benefactor"

Without another word, Ezra found himself a seat and sat down. This action caught these fellows by surprise.

"Now, I was told you all requested my presence to discuss appropriate remuneration, what have your Excellency’s decided?"

There was a brief silence as they all looked at one another.

This fellow was too straightforward!

Lightly coughing, one of them took the lead. "This is exactly why we requested your presence. As our benefactor, it would only be right that we treat you with sincerity to ensure a healthy relationship. So, we would like to ask you directly"

"What form of remuneration would you prefer?"

"That’s easy. I find monetary remuneration to best suit me. After all, you all are reputed merchants, you must understand this as well"

The council members lightly nodded.

"Very well, we will give you appropriate monetary remuneration"

"I am most appreciative of your generosity" Ezra gave his thanks, but adding an extra something. "Might I ask how much exactly your Excellency’s plan to bestow upon myself?"

"Ah..." the fellow brainstormed for a moment. "Five million Cryst"

"What?!"

Ezra’s sudden increase in tone was so abrupt it caught everyone off guard.

The guards stationed at the corners of the hall also fidgeted.

"Pardon?"

"You promised sincerity and appropriate remuneration for my deeds. Yet now, you quote Five million? I’m afraid such an amount will cause me to doubt your sincerity as to whether you truly wish to form a healthy relationship with me"

"You mean...?" The council spokesperson understood his words.

"Sorry? The proposed amount is too lacking to be called appropriate is what I wish to say. But I do not believe reputed merchants such as yourselves will not seek to deceive someone like me, so it must be my perception lacking, is that not so?"

"Y-Yes, it is so" the spokesman was caught up in Ezra’s intimidating presence that he stuttered.

Ezra lowered his head. "Then I must for apologize for thinking badly towards your magnanimous Excellency’s who only had good intentions at heart"

Not requesting permission he sits back down.

In this way, Ezra had passed his point across whilst making sure their egos remained unwounded by continuously praising them.

The council members were surprised once again, this fellow was adept with his words.

With the spokesperson shaken, another council member took up his mantle.

"Then, what amount do you think seems appropriate for your deeds?"

"Hmm..." Ezra pondered and the eyes of the council members glowed.

’Show us the extent of your greed’

’In the end, he’s just like the rest of them’

But something completely came out Ezra’s mouth.

"I don’t know"

The atmosphere froze in a weird manner.

"You...don’t know?"
