Chapter 456: Chapter 456. Fleeing the Pursuers

Before passing Tuang Yin’s claw weapons to Yang Li, Amon gave them to Shi Hei. Under Amon’s instruction, the aspiring smith modified the weapons by adding a new mechanism. With this mechanism, the metal claw could perform a grip while away from its user.

Yang Li activated this mechanism when Mang Xu parried the metal claw using his stick. The claw tightened its grip and grabbed Mang Xu’s stick.

While Mang Xu was immobilized, Yang Li used Fire Breath. Searing fire washed over Mang Xu. It was so hot that he screamed in pain and was forced to let go of his weapon. Yang Li didn’t let him go. She continued to pour flames out of her mouth. Mang Xu was backed into a corner with nowhere to run while raging flames continued to cook him.

Desperate to free himself from the suffering, he charged forward while enduring the burning.

Yang Li was prepared. Her claw weapon had returned to her. With the pair of claws, she rushed forward and slashed. The two passed one another amidst raging flames. A terrible tearing sound was heard. By the time they stopped moving, Mang Xu was down with an open stomach. His gut was spilled all over the floor. All the while, he was burning in flames.

While Yang Li won her fight, the same could not be said with Wu Di. His opponent was a Peak Mystic Stage. Her power was way above him, who had just reached the Beginning Mystic Stage recently. His body was full of cut wounds. Even so, he was not someone who backed down because of a difference in cultivation level.

Gu Weixing didn’t wish to prolong the fight. She channeled her power into her bladed fan. It shone with golden light as she held it high. With a strong projection of her aura, she applied pressure that made it difficult for Wu Di to move. Her charged-bladed fan rushed down, ready to split Wu Di into two.

Before the bladed fan arrived, Wu Di transformed into the Saintly Ape. The pressure exerted by Gu Weixing became useless. However, it was too late to move. All he could do was lift his glaive to block the incoming slash.

The two weapons clashed. A winner was decided as Gu Weixing’s bladed fan sliced through the glaive and proceeded to cut into Wu Di’s shoulder. The bladed fan went deep but stopped before hitting any vital organs. Wu Di’s defense also multiplied greatly after his transformation.

Gu Weixing was surprised that she failed to split her opponent into two. While she was surprised, a strong impact hit her stomach. This strong impact was followed by a twin explosion that caused her to slam into the wall behind.

"Hack...!" She vomited blood from the resulting internal wound. Even with her Iron Skin, the destructive power of Wu Di’s Ignition Fist could not be underestimated.

She stared at Wu Di in disbelief. Not only did she fail to kill this Beginning Mystic Stage cultivator, but she was also wounded by his counterattack.

Staring at Wu Di, she was further shocked when she noticed the deep wound in his shoulder was rapidly healing. Not only that, but she also caught sight of Mang Xu’s burning corpse and Yang Li cutting the engraved rope binding Yi Chaisan. Yi Chaisan might not be in her best condition, but she was an Intermediate Mystic Stage cultivator. Gu Weixing was not confident of her chance if she fought these three together.

"You watch it! I’m going to skin the three of you alive!" Gu Weixing threatened.

She threw the bladed fan in her hand. The weapon enlarged as it left her hand. The weapon whirled around her like a whirlwind.

The bladed fan wasn’t truly enlarged. The image of the enlarged fan was a projection formed by Gu Weixing’s aether. Despite it wasn’t real, the power carried by the fan was amplified like its enlarged image. Wu Di collided with the weapon and was thrown to the side. The whirling weapon also prevented Yang Li and Yi Chaisan from approaching.

With her weapon keeping her enemies at bay, she rushed to the exit. Her bladed fan returned to her just before she left.

Wu Di was about to chase, but Yang Li told him not to.

"Remember our objective!" She reminded him.

"Right," Wu Di said. "We must hurry and leave!"

"Ugh!" Yi Chaisan grimaced when she tried to exert energy in her leg to run. The pain was unbearable. That was the leg stabbed by Gu Weixing using the branding iron. So, she resorted to flying using her Mystic Stage power. However, despite being an Intermediate Mystic Stage, her flying speed was still slow without using any movement art.

"Let me help you," Wu Di said. He came over and grabbed her. He was still in his Saintly Ape form. His movement speed was above the average speed of a normal Beginning Mystic Stage cultivator.

Yang Li was also not slow. She used Shadowless Sprint to advance first, making sure no enemies were blocking their path.

The three rushed out of the building. When they were outside, they heard a commotion coming towards them. They turned and saw Gu Weixing with a bunch of people rushing over.

"Run!" Wu Di exclaimed. He used Jet Dash. The ground underneath him exploded as he shot at high speed away from the mob, going past Yang Li.

Yang Li continued using the Shadowless Sprint in the same direction as Wu Di. Wu Di couldn’t use Jet Dash consecutively and was carrying Yi Chaisan, so Yang Li caught up to him before long. The mob behind them was also shortening the distance.

They entered a small alley. As they ran, Yang Li tapped several talismans on the left wall while Wu Di touched the ones on the right. These talismans were placed there in advance.

The talismans started glowing. When the group led by Gu Weixing came near, the talismans released torrents of lightning. In such an enclosed space, the released lightning from multiple talismans formed layers of lightning walls.

The pursuing Gu Clan members knew they wouldn’t be unscathed if they charged forcefully through these lightning walls. Several in the group were Mystic Stage cultivators. These people started flying up to leap over the lightning walls. But as they did, several metal blades ran down on them.

"Who?!" Gu Weixing exclaimed.

They hurriedly used their defensive arts to parry the blades. While doing that, Gu Weixing saw the person who attacked them up there. On the wall near this assailant were several glowing talismans. These talismans then produced powerful explosions, causing debris to fall on them.

The debris wasn’t enough to harm Mystic Stage cultivators like them, but it stopped them from flying up. After the falling debris was over, they hurriedly resumed their attempt to fly over the lightning walls. However, when they flew up, they no longer saw their quarries. Their three original targets and the ambusher had moved out of their Mystic Sense’s scope.

They rushed over to the other end of the alley and came out into a quiet street. They didn’t see their quarries. A group of patrolling city guards came over then.

"Gu Clan! What is the commotion? What are all those explosions about?" The patrol leader asked. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"Tsk!" Gu Weixing was vexed by the situation. She told the patrolling leader, "Take me to Mayor Wang Xisheng! I have important information for him!"

Back at the abandoned shrine, Amon was with the representatives of the seven clans.

"Is something wrong?" One of the cloaked people asked when Amon abruptly stopped speaking.

"Our presence here has been leaked," Amon told them. "A large group of people are coming here."

"What? How come?" They asked. Concern was clear in their tones. If the city hall learned their purpose here, they would surely be executed.

"We must postpone this meeting. Hurry! We must flee this place at once!" Amon exclaimed.

They didn’t need persuading. They raced each other to the exit. One by one, they charged at high speed into the door covered with black cloth. Amon waited until everyone was out. He was the last to pass through the door.

When he did, he wasn’t in the shrine’s hall they were in earlier. Instead, he was inside a large and empty cubical room. The twenty-two cloaked people from the seven clans were looking around in puzzlement.

The one with better sensitivity quickly understood what was going on.

"This... This is a pocket dimension! We have entered a pocket dimension!" He exclaimed.

"What? But how...?" They turned back to see the door they entered from.

Instead of a door, they saw a portal. Amon was standing before the portal, and he was grinning. Lining his two sides were twenty battle puppets.

"You... It’s you? You made us enter this pocket dimension," one of them uttered.

"That’s correct," Amon admitted. "I was hoping it doesn’t have to come to this, but it does. This is because one clan among the seven here decided to double-cross us. They are the ones who sends their members to ambush us."
