Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 407. The Next Plan
Chapter 407: Chapter 407. The Next Plan
Bu Zheng, who had transformed into a wereboar, snorted with heavy breaths as his eyes stared intently at Amon. When he spoke, his voice was gruff.
"Your rules don’t forbid the use of a transformation art."
"No, they don’t," Amon replied. His body also started transforming. Scales covered his skin while his body mass increased, and his face turned serpentine.
"Let’s continue this!" Amon exclaimed.
The two rushed at one another again. Their increased speed let them reach each other in an instant. Their collision resulted in an explosive sound that shook the room. The two exchanged punches and kicks with incredible speed.
After both used transformation art, Bu Zheng found Amon slightly stronger and faster than him. He was again shocked by this revelation. He didn’t know that Amon’s Great Virulent Serpent was a high-tier practitioner art, while his wereboar transformation was only a mid-tier one. Additionally, Amon’s mastery of his art was greater than Bu Zheng’s.
Even if their power were on par, Amon would still be at an advantage. His body control and movement techniques were more refined. The Great Virulent Serpent endowed him with a slow-motion vision, giving him inhuman reaction time. Bu Zheng failed to land any hit, while Amon landed a hit at roughly every four assaults.
Bu Zheng moved back one step every time Amon landed a hit. Before he knew it, he was already at the edge of the circle.
"No way you win over me...!!!" Bu Zheng exclaimed. He channeled his power into his right palm and activated another transformation art. His right arm enlarged to a tremendous size. He slapped his disproportionally huge palm down from above.
An enormous gravity field followed that giant palm strike. This gravity field fell upon Amon, who was directly below. It forced him into the ground out of sheer pressure. When Amon resisted the pressure, Bu Zheng condensed the field. Its area of effect became smaller, but its power multiplied. The power became strong enough to make Amon lower his head.
Bu Zheng’s crushing palm slowly headed to Amon’s head while he was incapacitated by the pressure. But before the palm hit, Amon stopped resisting the pressure and instead made use of it. Since its area of effect was smaller, it only affected the region around his head. His head plunged toward the ground, but he turned the force that was pushing his head into a centrifugal force and somersaulted. His leg came up from behind and slammed into Bu Zheng’s head from above.
The blow struck Bu Zheng from an unexpected angle. He didn’t see that axe kick coming. Because of the unexpectedness, this kick gave him a great blow even when executed without using martial arts. He stumbled back and fell to the ground. When he looked, he found he was out of the circle.
"I won," Amon declared. He reverted to his normal form. "I look forward to your servitude these five years ahead."
"How did you do it?" Bu Zheng asked. His face showed disbelief.
"Stick around long enough, and maybe I will tell you one day," Amon replied.
Bu Zheng was unsure how he should feel about this. He was blank for a while. Finally, he chuckled and got to his feet. "Well, being in an organization with a leader like you might be more meaningful than my last one," he said.
"What makes you quit the rebels, by the way?" Amon asked.
"Impress me more, and I might tell you one day," Bu Zheng replied.
"Heh," Amon chuckled at the response.
"You are with the rebels?" Lu Fei asked. "I thought they don’t let quitters live?"
"They don’t," Bu Zheng answered. "You can say I am like a fugitive to them. Being imprisoned in this city is actually safe for me."
"You will also be safe with us," Gao Lan said.
"I hope so. You people are not afraid of offending the rebels?"
"We just broke you out from a group even the rebels are afraid of, the kingdom itself. We are not afraid of anything!" Qiang Dan exclaimed.
"Actually, we are. That’s why we did it in disguise. We are fucked if they know we are the ones who did it," Gao Lan reminded.
They heard the door being opened during their conversation. They exited the practice room and saw Xin Wuming and San Guo enter. A guard stationed on the door closed and locked the door again.
"Is everything okay?" Amon asked them.
San Guo nodded. "A lot of government officials ran out of the party after hearing about the attack at the jail. Seeing everyone here, I guess everything went well... Is Bian Cheng resting inside?"
Seeing people shaking their heads, San Guo understood Bian Cheng didn’t make it.
"That’s too bad," San Guo sighed. He then noticed Bu Zheng. "New face?"
Amon introduced their new member. After the introduction, Amon asked, "Did you carry out my instructions?"
"No need to worry about the host," San Guo replied. "I fed him the poison you gave me. He won’t expose my connection to planning that party. To everyone’s knowledge, I’m just a guest like the others."
"So, the host is dead?" Gao Lan asked.
"No. He is under eternal sleep," Amon answered. "He won’t wake up anymore. If he is murdered, people will suspect someone else in play. With him alive but could not provide information, he will remain our scapegoat."
"Sleep? I heard you also caused the prison guards to sleep during the jailbreak. Do you use the same poison?"
"No. The one I used on the prison guards is the tamed version. Those prison guards will wake up in the morning."
"You made them sleep? Not killed them?" Bu Zheng asked. "If you want the kingdom to think the jailbreak is the deed of the rebels, you should have killed them."
"I told you and the other prisoners that I am with the rebels to convince you all to leave the jail," Amon explained. "That explanation is for the prisoners, not for the kingdom. I don’t want the kingdom to think the rebels were responsible for the jailbreak. They will mobilize the kingdom army in the grand barrack to scour this city if they do. If that happens, it will hinder my next plan."
"The plan to deal with our financial problem?" Gao Lan asked.
Amon nodded. "Before we go into that plan. San Guo, how about my other instruction?"
"I got the map layout and the guard schedules from our captive. What poison did you give me? That one is terrifying. I gave him a small dose for half an hour effect, and he spilled everything afterward."
"Good. Do you have the key as well?" Amon asked.
"Here," San Guo produced a rather big key with an intricate shape. The key appeared to be made of gold. He gave the key to Amon.
"What about the seal formation protecting the target?"
"Diao Xin is with our captive. She is studying the words of power used in the seal formation based on our captive’s memory. Too bad Bian Cheng is no longer with us. His knowledge of Formation Sage can help Diao Xin figure out how to break the formation faster."
"Ask her to figure it out in one day. We will make our move tomorrow," Amon said.
"So fast?" San Guo asked.
"We don’t have the luxury of time. That captive you captured is a well-known party animal. Missing for one day is still okay. People will think he partied too hard. More than that, his access to our target might be revoked. This key will no longer be usable if that happens."
"Uh... What exactly are you two talking about?" Gao Lan asked. He couldn’t follow their conversation. frёewebnoѵēl.com
"We are talking about a way to solve our financial problem," Amon replied. "They take away our workshop, which is our main means to obtain aer stones. So, we will collect aer stones from them."
"You don’t mean..."
"We are going on a heist to steal the aer stone reserve inside the city hall’s vault," Amon stated.
The room went silent hearing that statement.
"Hehe. That is pretty much my reaction when the boss first told me," San Guo chuckled.
"Boss... Are you serious?" Gao Lan asked. She had been a part of the underworld for a long time, but what Amon proposed here was something never done before in history.
"That city hall is crawling with guards," Lu Fei pointed out.
"Not at this time," Amon replied. "Most of the guards inside the hall had been relocated to capture the prisoners who escaped jail."
"Ah... That’s why brother planned this heist after the jailbreak," Xin Wuming said.
Amon nodded. "We must strike while the iron is hot. That’s why we must move by tomorrow. Aside from people in the city hall starting to suspect something happened to San Guo’s captive, those relocated guards may also be called back to the city hall if we wait too long."
Gao Lan turned to San Guo and asked, "We keep hearing about this captive. Who is the person you kidnapped?"
"The vice mayor," San Guo answered.
