Chapter 398: Chapter 398. Handing out Assignments

Amon continued to discuss multiple issues in detail with them. At the end of the meeting, he gave some of them special assignments.

He gave Ah Bin a space ring containing the new batch of Wet Dream Flowers and Fragrant Pacifying Flowers. They were the two special ingredients to produce the Thousand Dream Powder and Serene Tranquilize Powder, the two recreational drugs that had financed a large portion of their operation.

"Great!" San Guo exclaimed. "With this batch, we solve our headache about the thinning ingredients. You truly return at the right time, boss."

"These flowers...," Ah Bin uttered. He took out some flowers for a quick inspection. "Their quality is way better than what we have before."

"Really?" San Guo asked. He couldn’t tell the difference.

Amon chuckled. "I used better water to grow them," he answered without explaining further.

"With this quality, I believe the powders we produce will be even better," Ah Bin announced.

"If that is true, we can consider increasing the price," San Guo said. His mind had already started making calculations on the possible price increase.

Amon left them to it. He called Hu Hua, Shi Hei, and Diao Xin. "When we were senior students in the Royal Academy, I told the three of you to study puppet-making. Did you follow my instructions?"

"We do," Shi Hei spoke for the three. "We continue to study puppet-making and experiment with building battle puppets when we have the chance. We might not be experts individually. But with the three of us working together, we can produce a decent enough engraved-quality battle puppet."

Amon was pleased with the answer. He said, "I don’t need you to produce the battle puppets. What I need is the power source."

"Power Source?" Hu Hua asked. "We did study how to make the power source. However, we still cannot get any Zillium. That material is too rare. It only appears in auctions, and it happens scarcely. When it does, every puppet maker in this capital vies for it. It always ends up becoming too expensive for us to procure."

Without speaking, Amon placed a few Zillium on the table.

"This... Where did you get them, boss?" Shi Hei asked.

"I stumbled upon them by luck during my time away," Amon lied. "I have enough Zillium to build maybe a hundred battle puppets. I will give them all to you. Please work hard to produce them as fast as possible."

"One... One hundred...," the three were speechless at the news.

"Although we have studied how to build a power source, we never truly build one," Diao Xin said. "I’m afraid we might damage the material if we rush the process."

"All right. Take time to familiarize yourselves with the first few trials," Amon said. "But don’t take too long. Put this task as the priority."

"We understand," the three uttered.

He let Hu Hua and Diao Xin go but asked Shi Hei to stay. He had an additional task for him. "Can you already produce high-tier engraved weapons?"

"If I have the materials, I can," Shi Hei answered.

"Good," Amon said. He gave Shi Hei a paper containing sketches depicting his alpha flying knife. Shi Hei took the paper and studied it.

"Go and procure the best materials in the market to make those knives. I want you to craft four of them," Amon said. He handed Shi Hei a large bag of aer stones.

"This is a lot," Shi Hei remarked about the number of aer stones.

"As I said, I want the best materials," Amon said.

"I won’t disappoint you, boss!" Shi Hei declared.

Amon nodded and sent him away. The last person he called was San Guo.

"What do you need, boss," San Guo asked.

"I want a house in the upper-class district. I want you to search for one," Amon said.

"No problem. Tell me your preferences," San Guo replied.

"I want one in a safe and quiet neighborhood. It must have good security but preferably for the neighbors to rarely be around."

San Guo didn’t think this was difficult. All upper-class districts had good security. Kingdom soldiers always patrolled such districts. As for the rarely present neighbors, rich folks usually had more than one house, so he just needed to find the area where these rich folks had their second houses.

"I also need a basement. Two separate basements. If we must build or renovate the house to accommodate these basements. That’s fine," Amon added. "After the basements are built, I want you to install a seal formation that prevents entry to this basement. The seal must be at least the level used in the Royal Academy. If Bian Cheng’s formation skill is not yet up to the task, you can hire a formation sage from outside our organization. I also want a seal formation and alarm formation for the house perimeter."

San Guo nodded at the instructions. "Anything else?" He asked.

"That’s all. Please get the house as soon as possible," Amon said.

Amon spent the next few days familiarizing himself with their operation while waiting for the result of the tasks he had given everyone. He also went around the capital to get to know the place better. He didn’t have the chance the last time he was here.

As for a place to spend the night, San Guo offered him to crash at his house. His house was also in the upper-class district. Amon purchased the house for him during his previous visit utilizing his Kingdom Badge.

Amon turned down the offer. San Guo’s family stayed in that house. While San Guo might no longer have any bad feelings regarding his past with Amon, his wife and daughter might not be the case. He was sure they had not yet forgotten the horror he inflicted on them. They might not even know that San Guo was working for him now. He preferred to avoid the complication.

Like usual, he used disguise as he roamed the streets. He cross-checked the situation of the capital with the information from Xin Wuming and the others. The capital was much larger than Qishurg City. It also had more clans. This made it so that no one clan was too dominant. Some of the prominent ones he was familiar with were the Gao Clan and the Xian Clan.

The underworld had the same situation. It was a cluster of lots of different factions. Even the underworld organization under the Gao Clan had power only inside a limited territory. This was because, compared to Qishurg City, the security in this capital was stricter. More kingdom soldiers roamed the streets. This greatly limited the underworld activities. The underworld in this city truly hid in the shadow. There was rarely a big fight between underworld organizations like in Qishurg City.

Amon didn’t mind this restriction. Even in Qishurg City, he had trained the Demon Gang members to operate from the shadow. If anything, the situation in this capital suit their style even more.

Out of all the tasks Amon handed out, San Guo completed his first. Three days after Amon reunited with them, San Guo brought Amon to an upper-class district that was even more luxurious than the one he lived in. It was close to the palace. Many noble families possessed residences here. However, most of them didn’t live here. They lived in another district even better than this one. Their houses here were for them to use when they brought companies their families didn’t approve of, or for a place to throw a party where they hosted people not of noble lineage. Hence, the houses here were vacant most of the time.

This upper-class district was walled off. Those who entered had to go through a checkpoint gate. Civilians may enter, but only if their names were registered as guests to the residents inside the district. Amon and San Guo were not registered, but Amon’s kingdom badge granted him a passage.

"Good security," Amon remarked after they passed through the gate. "How do you know the house fits what I am looking for if you cannot enter here?"

"Hehe. I have eyes and ears in most places of the city," San Guo chuckled. "I might not have any connection with the residents here. The maids and cleaners who work here, on the other hand, are more than willing to share information for a few aer stones... Ah, here is the lot I want to show you."

They came upon a mansion. It was three times larger than Amon’s residence at the Royal Academy. It also had a courtyard and garden around the mansion. The houses next door were a decent distance away. Even if they were occupied, it was too far to notice what was going on at this mansion.

There were also high walls separating each lot. The walls had words of power engraved in them. San Guo explained the words of power contained the seal and alarm formations Amon requested. The formation even prevented people outside the lot from hearing noise from the inside.

This place was designed for people who valued their privacy and discouraged nosy neighbors.

"Perfect," Amon said.
