Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 388. Welcome to the Club
Chapter 388: Chapter 388. Welcome to the Club
The Thunder Roc couldn’t fly because half its wings were immobilized for turning golden. Hence, it couldn’t dodge Yan Wang’s deadly slash. Its body split into two in the middle. It died instantly. Its blood splashed all over the ground.
Amon didn’t stop for the loss. He was prepared for it. He released his flying swords before the remains of the Thunder Roc even touched the ground. Multiple shooting stars rushed at Yan Wang, who just performed the killing blow, including Amon’s two alpha flying knives.
"Ugh!" Yan Wang’s right arm hurt from the wound caused by the Thunder Roc’s beak, but he forced it to move. His golden sword turned into a blur as it created a net of crisscrossing golden lines. Each line struck a flying knife. The knives hit by these golden lines were shattered. His alpha flying knives survived the hit because they were made of more durable materials but still cracked from the impact.
Yan Wang lost the strength in his arm. He couldn’t use his sword to deal with Amon’s follow-up attacks, the Poison Cloud Bullets. He moved away to avoid the bullets, instead.
Amon detonated the bullets when they failed to hit. The explosions released poisonous purple clouds that spread around Yan Wang.
"Hah...!" Yan Wang released another shockwave that pushed the poisonous clouds away from him.
"Father!"
Yan Wang was stunned by the call. It was his son’s voice. He turned and saw, as the purple clouds parted way, Yan Dose was running toward him.
"Do... Dose...?" He didn’t know what to think. His mind was a mess. He momentarily thought that perhaps he remembered wrong. Perhaps the boy he saw among the corpse was not Yan Dose. Perhaps his son was alive and hiding.
He extended his left hand to touch his incoming son. His son did the same. His son’s approaching hand suddenly turned into a claw and went for his throat. His throat was protected by Iron Skin, but he was currently too weak to utilize the defensive art properly. The sharp claw sliced into his throat. His Iron Skin prevented the claw from causing a deep wound, but it was still enough to draw blood.
Yan Wang’s extending hand struck back instinctively. His palm slammed into his son’s chest. Upon the hit, his son transformed into the six-tailed fox that had attacked him earlier. The fox flew away and struck a tree. The tree fell from the impact. The underneath of the fox’s belly was encased in gold.
Yan Wang covered his bleeding throat using his hand. He wasn’t given the time to rest. He sensed incoming attacks from behind. He turned back and saw five water rings flying toward him. He sensed demonic energy from these water rings.
He again forced his right arm to move. His golden sword flashed and created golden lines that collided with these water rings. He expected unnatural power from these water rings because of their demonic aura, just like Amon’s earlier Flame Lance. Still, the recoil from the collision took him aback.
His arm was no longer in good condition as earlier. He lost the grip on his sword after parrying four water rings. With his sword gone, the fifth water ring sliced past his wrist.
"Ahh...!" He yelled in pain.
He was still not given the time to rest. He sensed Amon approaching.
Amon was still a distance away, but he threw his ceremonial dagger. This dagger aimed for Yan Wang’s wounded throat.
Yan Wang maintained his awareness by not giving in to his pain. He dodged the black dagger at the last instant. The dagger grazed the side of his neck.
Yan Wang removed the left hand covering his bleeding throat. He performed White Gold Palm as he rushed forward. Because Amon was also rushing at him, Amon couldn’t dodge the palm. The glowing palm slapped into Amon’s chest.
Blood poured out of Amon’s mouth. But instead of coming out normally, the blood spurted at a condensed volume. Amon spit this blood at Yan Wang’s face. When the blood made contact, a hissing sound was heard, and smoke came out of the contact point.
"Aghh...! My eyes!" Yan Wang screamed.
Amon’s blood was like acid due to practicing the Poison Blood Infusion Method. The skin on Yan Wang’s face started to peel off despite his Iron Skin, but the worst damage was on his eyes. His eyeballs melted due to the poison in Amon’s blood.
He didn’t have the tenacity to endure the pain this time. He didn’t sense Amon’s alpha flying knives returning. Although they had cracks, the words of power on them were not damaged enough. Amon could still control them. The two large knives stabbed into Yan Wang’s chest.
Yan Wang backstepped several times from the impacts. The two knives couldn’t penetrate deep enough due to his Iron Skin. He spread his feet to prevent himself from falling.
"Hhh...! Hhh...!" He was breathing heavily. Blood continued to leak from his ripped throat. He no longer covered his throat or his eyes.
Amon was down on the ground. Despite not in top condition, Yan Wang’s White Gold Palm still wounded him greatly. His whole chest was coated in gold. He had difficulty breathing and moving.
Lin Li recovered first. The golden layer underneath her started to peel off. She could move again. She ran toward Yan Wang. Amon sent her a mental message, telling her to stop.
She obeyed. She hunched down menacingly while growling at Yan Wang.
Yan Wang remained standing with the same pose. All three surviving combatants didn’t move. After a while, Yan Wang spoke under his heavy breathing, "Lin Mo... I will haunt... you forever..."
After those words, his breathing stopped. He remained standing in the same position. Blood continued to leak from his throat, but it was slower.
"My name is Amon," Amon spoke while standing up. His chest hurt greatly when he moved. He must have suffered some broken chest bones. As for the gold layer covering his chest, they started to slowly evaporate.
He walked toward Yan Wang, who remained still. Lin Li became agitated seeing that. She also approached but remained alert. She continued to growl at Yan Wang.
"Don’t worry, the Cold Stiff Poison has overcome him," Amon told her.
Amon stood before Yan Wang and observed his damaged face. "Haunt me...?"
He turned toward Qishurg City. Fire and smoke were coming out of the city, and colorful energies filled the sky above it. The battle there was still ongoing.
He said, "Welcome to the club, then. I have many souls haunting me, in this world or the past..."
Lin Li stopped her growling. She finally accepted that Yan Wang was dead. She transformed into her human form. Blood was leaking from her mouth. She was wounded but grateful. Her fate could be worse as she looked at the Thunder Roc’s corpse. They had spent a lot of time together inside Amon’s black space ring. Losing this roommate saddened her.
Amon patted her. "Good job," he praised.
"Should we bury the Thunder Roc?" Lin Li asked.
"It is a higher superior beast. Its body will make a good compost for the plantation," Amon answered.
When he noticed Lin Li’s uncertain expression, he added, "The Thunder Roc will be happy to be of use to us even in death. We can place a tombstone next to the lake to remember it."
"O... Okay," Lin Li uttered.
Amon returned her and the Thunder Roc’s corpse into his black space ring. He then grabbed Yan Wang’s severed hand, which had the space ring. He removed the space ring and stored it. He then checked Yan Wang’s longsword.
After taking some time to appraise the sword, Amon concluded that its grade was high-tier engraved. It had such a powerful cutting ability because of Yan Wang’s art, which enhanced it with a golden layer. If it was only the sword, his ceremonial dagger could have easily split it apart.
He didn’t need the sword, but it was still a decent treasure. He stored it inside his space ring.
He moved to another spot and spent half a day meditating. He used the Nine Moon Restorative Mantra to heal himself. After he recovered enough, he was ready to leave. He looked at Qishurg City. The conflict didn’t seem finished yet. Spirit beasts still ravaged the place. He didn’t think the city could recover from this disaster.
He did not doubt Huang San would be devastated. That thirteenth prince had worked hard to build his force in that city, but he had ruined it. He had promised Huang San he would help him ascend the throne, but his action this time surely made that promise to be further from realization.
It was okay for him, though. The fact that Huang San lost his force meant the prince would need outside force even more. He could supply that, which meant Huang San would depend on him more.
He would deal with that in the future. Currently, he had one loose end he needed to handle.
