Chapter 375: Chapter 375. Loyal Bodyguard

Amon never knew the exact grade of the Xian Cloth. Now, he knew. The Dark God mentioned this ceremonial dagger matched Kui Mang’s cultivation level. Runic-grade weapons were indeed the preferred weapons of Martial Realm Cultivator.

He drew the demon energy from his black energy core. A dark aura swirled around his body as he injected the demonic energy into the ceremonial dagger. The thin black smoke oozing out of the dagger’s black blade intensified. The black smoke became so thick that it turned tangible. The blazing black smoke made the dagger look like a longsword.

When he slashed the dagger, a portion of the black smoke split and rushed toward the direction of the slash. The black smoke sliced into the ground a distance away and caused a long gash.

Amon slashed the dagger a few more times. Each slash produced a slice of black smoke that struck distant targets. The black smoke only vanished when he stopped transferring his demonic energy to the dagger.

"What is the name of this dagger?" Amon asked.

"The name...? It has been so long since I wield it. I forget already," the Dark God answered. "You can name it however you want."

Amon didn’t truly want to bother. Since it was so, he would just call the dagger the ceremonial dagger. He replaced the Swan Dagger with this new weapon. He tied the hilt of the ceremonial dagger using the Xian Cloth before wrapping it with the cloth into his right arm.

"Are you ready for my final gift?" The Dark God asked.

"A loyal bodyguard?" Amon asked back.

"Yes," the Dark God replied.

Amon detected a hint of malice in the voice. He said, "The boons I’ve received are more than enough, I will take my le–"

"Here it is," the Dark God uttered, ignoring Amon’s statement. A stream of black fog burst out of the dark red portal. This fog rushed at Amon at high speed.

Amon jumped away and dodged the black fog. The fog was as if alive. It changed direction and pursued him. He ran at high speed while making zigzag movements, narrowly avoiding the black fog at every turn. All the while, the Dark God’s laugh echoed throughout the woods.

When Amon ran far enough, he felt himself getting yanked by the same invisible force from before. The Dark God must have acted because Amon was almost out of his area of influence.

Like before, Amon couldn’t resist the power. He flew back toward the dark red portal. Without being able to maneuver, the black fog caught up to him. The fog latched onto his left arm. As it did, Amon felt a terrible pain in that arm. The pain was as if his arm was chewed by hundreds of rabid dogs.

Even for someone with extreme pain tolerance like him, he ended up screaming in pain due to the intensity and suddenness of the pain.

"Ggrrhhh...!!" He groaned when the pain subsided. His arm was still covered by the black fog.

The black fog abruptly dispersed. The stinging pain still lingered, though not as intense as before. His Jue Body Suit, which had long sleeves, was torn apart on the left sleeve. His left arm was visible. Yet, his arm was not as before. An intricate tattoo depicting a scaly and long-bodied beast covered that arm.

"What...?" He observed the tattoo. When his gaze reached the tattoo depicting the beast’s head, he saw the eyes on that tattoo move. They were staring back at him.

The tattoo came to life.

It burst into the black fog again. Except this time, it had a more discernible form. The fog was in the shape of the beast depicted by the tattoo. It had a long serpentine body with six limbs. Each limb ended with long claws. Its head had the features of a wolf but with a pair of antlers.

The black fog creature displayed an eerie grin. It then spoke, "Well met, my new master. My name is Bo Wu. I’m glad to be of service."

"What are you? Get the hell out of my body!" Amon commanded.

"Sorry, master. That is not possible," Bo Wu answered. When it spoke, it was accompanied by laughing barks like those uttered by hyenas.

"It is a hell beast," the Dark God was heard again. "I did promise you a loyal bodyguard, didn’t I? What can be more loyal than one attached to your body? As long as it is inside, your arm is indestructible. Everything that struck your arm, Bo Wu will endure it for you. It will be your perfect bodyguard. It can even come out and attack your opponent if needed."

"I will be in trouble if people see it coming out of my arm," Amon said.

"Don’t worry. Bo Wu is more cunning than you think. It knows when to show itself and when to hide. You are in good hands with it by your side."

Amon stared at the living fog extending from his arm. It still displayed an eerie grin. He didn’t trust this thing. However, it didn’t seem like there was anything he could do, for now.

"If we are to be together, you must listen to my instructions," Amon told Bo Wu.

"Of course, of course," Bo Wu said among its laughing barks. "You are my master, after all. I will listen to you. Yes, I will. Hehe..."

"Tsk! Get back into your tattoo form," Amon ordered.

"Certainly, master. Hehe..."

Amon couldn’t see Bo Wu’s expression clearly since its face was made of black fog, but the sinister grin it displayed was hard to miss. The hell beast receded into Amon’s arm and transformed back into a tattoo.

"I guess our transaction here is complete," the Dark God said. "Unless you have anything else?"

"No, there is nothing else," Amon answered.

"Before I leave you to your miserable life, I’m curious. Are you going to get me? Like what that girl asked you to do?"

Amon didn’t respond.

"Don’t get me wrong. I am very interested in seeing you try. I will be looking forward to it even."

"No," Amon said. "She meant nothing to me. Haven’t I already proven it? Why would I risk my life for someone I don’t care about?"

"Hehe... Very well then. We probably won’t see each other again. I wish you the most painful suffering."

The dark red within the portal turned dim. It slowly shrunk before vanishing altogether. Amon was left alone with a sea of bodies.

He was quickly reminded that he was not alone.

"So, where are we going, master?" Bo Wu asked.

"Stop talking to me whenever you wish. People might hear you," Amon said.

"Have no worry, master. When I am in tattoo form, I am one with you. I talked directly into your mind."

’In my mind? Can you hear me now?’ Amon said inside his mind.

"I can," Bo Wu answered.

’You can read my mind?’ Amon asked in alarm.

"Not if you don’t let me, just like you can’t read mine," Bo Wu answered.

Amon contemplated the issue. He thought about something without directing that thought at Bo Wu. No response from his imposed hitchhiker. Then again, it could just pretend not to read his thoughts. The Dark God did mention it was cunning.

Since he couldn’t do anything about it anyway, he just had to be more careful.

Amon went back to the clearing. He looked at Tuang Yin’s body and found that he kept averting his gaze away from her. He took out a cloth and wrapped her body in it. He then picked it up and left.

Inside the town of Melas Twitch, Kui Chong was running in panic. He hadn’t stopped running since he saw his father’s head blow up in front of him. It was night, so not many people roamed the streets. Still, some townspeople saw him. They decided to avoid him. One of the reasons was they knew he was the no-good son of the biggest clan in this town. Another reason was because he was covered in blood. Whatever problem he was in, they didn’t want to get involved.

Kui Chong’s mind was in a mess. He didn’t know where to go. He just kept running without any sense of direction. He continued to run until some clarity returned to his mind. He stopped running then. He was panting. He was very tired. He also realized he needed to clean up, so he decided to go home.

Entering his house, he noticed everything was dark and unusually quiet.

"Hel... Hello...?" He called. Normally, there should be maids welcoming him, even this late at night.

He then heard a chilling and inhuman voice.

"I can eat this one, right?"

Another voice, which he found familiar, answered, "Yes."

He turned to where the voice came from. What greeted him was something inexplicable. It was a dark living fog in the shape of an otherworldly creature. This living fog was making an unsettling laugh as it opened its mouth. The edge of this wide-open mouth was jagged like it was full of sharp teeth.

These teeth sank into him.
