Rise of The Demon General-Chapter 374. For Power
Chapter 374: Chapter 374. For Power
Amon found the pressure holding him down was gone. He could stand again. He eyed the dark red portal before looking around for an escape path. The cloaked mob was incapacitated. They no longer posed a danger to him. Even so, he knew there was no escape.
Amon looked at Kui Mang’s headless body. Even if he used the high-tier runic giant puppet, it was useless. The Dark God could kill a Spirit Stage cultivator with mere pressure from his aura. His giant puppet wouldn’t be much of a help.
He truly had no choice but to play along this time.
The Dark God’s voice sounded again. "You... I sense both divine and infernal energy from your body. How is that possible?"
Amon felt himself yanked toward the dark red portal.
"Hm... That black ring... How did it come into your possession?" The Dark God asked.
"You know about this black space ring?" Amon asked in return.
The Dark God didn’t answer. Silence returned for several seconds. When the Dark God’s voice was heard again, it had returned to its playful tone.
"I didn’t expect the main world to have an interesting individual like you. Maybe one day we can meet... If you live through this night."
Amon felt himself getting thrown back. He fell to the ground next to Kui Mang’s body. The ceremonial dagger was there. The Dark God asked him to pick it up. While he stared at the dagger, Tuang Yin was yanked and thrown in front of him.
"Ouw!" She exclaimed.
"I sense a special emotion you have for this girl," the Dark God uttered. "My offer stands. Slay the person most valuable to you, and you will receive my boons. Reject it, and you will save the girl, but at the cost of your life."
"You are truly one sick fuck!" Tuang Yin scolded. "You are no God! How can you force someone to make such a terrible choice? If you want our lives, just take it. We are not your plaything!"
"Hehe." The Dark God chuckled in response.
Tuang Yin turned to Amon. She said, "Let’s take our chances. We bolt from here as fast as we can. He is in another world. There is a limit to his power."
Amon nodded. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Let’s go!" She exclaimed and started running.
After only taking the first step, she felt something piercing her back.
"Wh–What...?" she looked down and saw the tip of a black blade coming out of her chest.
She turned back and looked at Amon in disbelief. He was holding the ceremonial dagger stabbing into her back.
"Lin... Lin Mo...," she uttered. Her knees buckled as she lost strength in her legs.
Amon caught her before she dropped to the ground.
"Wh... Why...?" She asked.
"... For power," Amon answered.
She coughed blood. She was gasping heavily. Her eyes staring at Amon first expressed confusion, then anger, before finally, acceptance.
Her hand went up to touch Amon’s face. She smiled and spoke with heavy breaths, "I have already lost my life that time at Grimwich Village... It was you who brought me back to life... I am just living an extended life... If you are taking it back now, I’m at peace with it... If my life can help you advance, that is even better..."
Amon frowned at her words. He preferred it if she cursed and scolded him for what he did.
Tuang Yin continued, "My only regret... is not there when you stand atop the world... Do me a favor... Get that son of a bitch who forces you to do this... Okay...? It’s... not your... fault..."
Her hand that was touching Amon’s cheek fell to the ground. She had stopped breathing.
Amon continued holding her in his embrace. He felt something wet on his cheek. He touched it. Tears again? He thought. He then noticed something in the hand he used to wipe the tears. It was a regrowth pill. He had no recollection of taking this pill out of his space ring. Nevertheless, it was too late now.
"Haha... Hahaha!!"
The Dark God’s laughter echoed through the woods. It sent chills to everyone who heard it.
"Marvelous! Simply marvelous...!!" The Dark God exclaimed. "I am entertained! Very well done! For that, you have the right to everyone’s life here. Do you want me to spare them?"
All the black-cloaked people turned their eyes to Amon anxiously.
Amon answered, "Kill them all."
The eyes of those people widened in horror. Before they could utter anything in protest, their heads exploded. In a short instant, the woods were filled with headless corpses.
"Now, let me provide you with your boons. I might not be able to cross through this portal, but I can send something through as long as it doesn’t take too much energy. The higher the grade of the items, the stronger the energy needed. First, your ten million aer stones..."
"I don’t need the aer stones," Amon uttered. His underworld operation was enough to procure wealth for him. "I want to exchange them for another item."
"Hm... Negotiating with me...? Very well, let’s hear your request."
"I want a high-tier arcane art of the infernal element," Amon said.
"Arcane art of the infernal element? Which element? No... There is no need to answer. I will bestow you according to the element you have an affinity with."
"I have an affinity with an infernal element?" Amon asked.
"You are not aware? Right, I don’t find it strange. The main world doesn’t provide a way for someone to check the affinity with the infernal elements, so you don’t know, but I assure you your affinity is with one of the infernal elements."
Amon realized then. The fact that he was discovered to have no elemental affinity during the Royal Academy’s entrance ceremony was not because he didn’t have one but because his affinity was not with the six divine elements.
"You not only have an affinity with an infernal element, but your affinity is even S-class," the Dark God continued. "Seeing your potential, I don’t mind giving you an arcane art for free, simply because I am interested in knowing you may wreak havoc in the main world, hahaha!"
Two books flew out of the dark red portal. Amon caught the two. One of them was titled Great Evil Heart. The other was Elder God Tentacles.
"One of the books is a manual for the infernal cultivation art I promised. The other contains the arcane art of the darkness element," the Dark God informed.
’My affinity is with the darkness element?’ Amon thought.
"Mind you, though. I don’t think you can learn that arcane art with your current cultivation," the Dark God laughed.
"What grade is this Elder God Tentacles?" Amon asked.
"It is the high-tier profound grade," the Dark God answered.
Amon was astonished. The library from the pyramid legacy didn’t even possess an art of mid-tier profound. This was even higher than that.
"As for the cultivation art, the Great Evil Heart can carry your infernal cultivation to the level of the Supreme Stage of the Monster Realm," the Dark God said.
"Monster Realm," Amon muttered. In that case, this cultivation art was much better than his current Evil Soul Tempering, which only helped him cultivate within the Acolyte Realm.
"As for the unparalleled weapon I mentioned to the fool who rejected my boons, it is right there, on your lover’s body," the Dark God said.
Amon turned to the ceremonial dagger still stuck in Tuang Yin’s back. He grabbed the dagger and pulled it out. As he did, he felt a strange prick in his chest. It was as if he was pulling the dagger out of his own heart.
He stared at Tuang Yin’s lifeless body with a strange feeling. He couldn’t understand this feeling. He wished to be rid of it, but it remained clinging to his mind. It was similar to when Madam Lin died in his arms but different.
While he was still distracted by the unpleasant feeling, the ceremonial dagger in his hand started to vibrate.
"Are you being overcome by guilt?" The Dark God asked. "If you are, I’m disappointed. You won’t get far with that kind of pathetic sentiment."
’Guilt...? Is that what I am feeling?’ he thought.
The ceremonial dagger continued to vibrate. Its vibration intensified, and it started releasing a strange pulse. Dark smoke swirled around it. It seemed to change with each pulse. Its worn-out appearance slowly transformed. By the time the vibration stopped, the dagger had a pristine look.
Its black surface was gleaming. Thin black smoke seemed to constantly ooze out of its blade. Amon could feel the power coursing through the dagger in his hand. It was unlike any weapon he ever held.
Amon slashed the dagger on the ground. A long black line followed his slash. When this black line vanished, a deep gash was seen in the ground. Amon didn’t even feel the resistance when the dagger was slashing through the ground. That was how sharp the dagger was.
"That dagger will release its true power when you inject demonic energy into it," the Dark God informed. "Its grade is high-tier runic, the same as that yellow cloth in your right arm."
