Chapter 339: Chapter 339. Forced to Use a Weapon

One thing that Amon noticed when he saw the Xin Lai Palm in action was the radial force could either go clockwise or counterclockwise. It was not fixed. Yet, it couldn’t change during execution. If it started clockwise, it continued in that direction until the art ended. The telltale sign was the tai chi symbol following the art execution. One could determine the direction of the force by observing the spinning direction of the symbol.

The symbol spun extremely fast. Even if someone knew the theory, a normal person would find it hard to see the spinning direction of the symbol. Thankfully, Amon had the Great Virulent Serpent. Even when he did not activate this art, it had the passive effect of improving his senses. His eyes saw everything in slightly slow motion. Added to his keen perception, he could ascertain the spinning direction of the Xin Lai Palm just as it was executed.

Thus, he didn’t lose his balance when the radial force started sweeping him. He instead made use of the momentum. His feet left the ground and performed a high kick following the radial motion.

Xin Jingsao was shocked by the kick heading to his head. He was about to perform a follow-up strike after unbalancing Amon. He did not expect his opponent to deliver a follow-up attack earlier than him.

Despite the shock, his reaction was quick. He canceled his assault and swayed away, dodging Amon’s kick. This swaying motion was another of the Temple of Divinity’s exclusive arts. Li Shi informed Amon during Xin Jingsao’s spar with Huang Zen that this movement art was called Eight Trigrams Steps.

Amon had also analyzed this movement art during Xin Jingsao’s earlier spar. Although Xin Jingsao’s swaying appeared mystical and highly effective, Amon noticed that the biggest movements were on Xin Jingsao’s upper body. His lower body performed minimal movements.

Hence, Amon targeted this part.

His body was currently upside down due to the radial force from the Xin Lai Palm. Right when Xin Jingsao dodged his kick, he waved his right arm. The Xian Cloth on that arm unraveled. The swan dagger flew in an arc to the back of Xin Jingsao’s legs.

Because Xin Jingsao was dodging Amon’s kick at the time, and because the swan dagger wasn’t directly aimed at his legs, he wasn’t aware of the danger. By the time the swan dagger revolved around his legs one time, the Xian Cloth tied to the dagger was already too close.

Xin Jingsao tried jumping to dodge, but it was too late. The Xian Cloth wrapped around one of his legs, binding it. Amon pulled. Since their power was almost equal, Xin Jingsao couldn’t fully resist the pull. He lost his balance and jerked forward. He quickly gathered his aether and stomped his feet into the ground, trying to steady his footing to resist Amon’s pull.

Amon attacked once he pulled the Xian Cloth and destabilized Xin Jingsao. He used Bone Shattering Shadow Fist, which mastery bestowed him a long-range assault. The energy of his fist traveled through the air and arrived before Xin Jingsao just as he was stabilizing his footing.

Xin Jingsao couldn’t dodge or perform any defensive art in such a short window. All he managed to do was cross his arms in front of him to block. Amon’s Bone Shattering Shadow Fist produced ten consecutive energy fists. These fists battered Xin Jingsao’s blocking arm.

His right arm could still withstand the hits, but his left couldn’t. Its bone was already cracked when Amon hit it when he saved Huang Zen earlier. This barrage of fists incurred additional damage and caused the bone in that arm to break.

By the time the ten energy fists were over, Xin Jingsao staggered back with a painful scream due to his broken left arm. "Aahhhh...!"

"Lin Mo wi–" Hua Ling was about to announce Amon’s victory, but she stopped because of a gesture from Amon.

Amon asked Xin Jingsao, "Do you still think you don’t need a weapon?" He released the Xian Cloth that was binding Xin Jingsao’s leg. The swan dagger returned to his hand.

"You, bastard...!!!" Xin Jingsao roared. His broad sword reappeared. It floated next to him. "If you are so eager to die, I will fulfill your wish...!"

His good arm made a shoving gesture. The broad sword flew forward at high speed.

Rather than feeling threatened, Amon grinned. He slashed his swan dagger at the incoming broad sword.

The impact sent his swan dagger careening to the side. The power contained in the flying broad sword was greater than Amon expected. Luckily, he swerved to the side when he engaged the broad sword. His failure to stop the broad sword’s advance didn’t cause him to be impaled by it. He just lost his balance.

The broad sword shot past him but quickly flew back. Amon again used his swan dagger to clash with the broad sword while taking an evasive move.

The broad sword didn’t let up. Under the control of Xin Jingsao, the broad sword relentlessly flew back to hit Amon. Repeated clanging sounds reverberated throughout the hall as Amon danced around the flying sword that flew back and forth around him.

"Let’s see how long you can keep that up!" Xin Jingsao exclaimed. His face, which always showed indifference and contempt all this time, was now displaying a savage expression. His intent to kill Amon was clear for everyone to see.

Hua Ling was tense. She was ready to jump in at a moment’s notice.

Amon himself was sweating profusely. His exertion and focus were at his highest. His arm hurt from repeated clashing. If he faltered even a little, he would be chopped by the broad sword. Yet, he was still grinning.

"What the hell is going on here?!" Hua Rong’s voice was heard.

Princess Huang Er, Xin Dhaije, and Hua Rong had finished their discussion. They were surprised to find Amon and Xin Jingsao fighting.

Hua Ling immediately acted. "The spar is over!" She exclaimed. Her glaive thrust between Amon and the flying broad sword. With a heave, she sent the broad sword flying back at Xin Jingsao.

Xin Jingsao waved his hand. The broad sword spun in the air before stabbing into the floor next to him.
