Rise of the Crusader-Chapter 214 - 214 Vernon Orleans
214 Vernon Orleans
The atmosphere around the mountain became cold, and as Vernon’s ear moved slightly, his lips curved inwardly.
He chuckled soon after.
However, it wasn’t even up to a second after a chuckle escaped his mouth, and purple smoke filled the surrounding.
Afterimage of various figures donned in black robes could then be visible in the area.
Vernon still lay peacefully on the mountain despite the change that just transpired, his eyes were still shut close, and he didn’t seem to intend on leaving the mountain anytime soon.
While, Vernon had a very thin build, and didn’t seem to be able to harm an insect not to talk of a human, the black robe figures didn’t make the mistake of making a move on him. 𝒇r𝙚𝙚𝓌𝙚𝑏𝗻𝑜𝘷𝗲𝘭.c૦𝑚
At least not yet… Whoever underestimated Vernon because of his build, or innocent face, was certainly going to be killed.
There was no doubt, as the youth on the mountain was the god of death incarnate.
As more black robe figures begin to appear on the mountain, Vernon remained still. He didn’t move, but as he felt multiple blades on his chest, and head, the smile on his face widened.
.....
“Come on, what are you still waiting for.” Said Vernon.
A light frown emerged on the majority of the black robe figures upon Vernon’s words.
They, however, wasted no other time and punctured through his chest, head, and another part of his body.
Blood filled the mountain, as over twenty blades stabbed, and sliced Vernon’s body. There was no such thing as remorse or pity from the student of the assassin division.
They kept stabbing and hitting Vernon’s with all their body, leaving Vernon in a very distorted shape. His head was on the far edge of the mountain, while other body parts were in other locations.
After hacking Vernon’s body to a point, the student glanced at one another.
Slowly, one of them opened his mouth, and said, “We did it… We killed Vernon Orleans.”
Even as that statement was made, and the body was laying right on the ground, the student still found it very unbelievable.
Who was Vernon Orleans?
In one word, he was a prodigy.
Suddenly, the machete in the hand of one of the students trembled violently. She slowly then pointed her hand into the body, and as a few of the students moved their gaze to the body, fear swept through their bodies.
“What th-”
The male student had only just uttered those words, when his head, hands, as well as legs, were ripped off his body.
His body was then hacked In the same fashion that Vernon’s body had been hacked earlier.
However, unlike Vernon’s damage that was caused by the students, they weren’t able to see the person who was delivering the attack on the male students.
It was simply invisible.
As trained assassins, they didn’t wait around to figure out what was going on, and quickly they began to scramble out of the mountain.
“Argh!!!!!!” They had only just taken a few steps when heads began to roll off the mountain.
The purple smoke had already cleared, and the students were able to watch as various parts of their colleague’s bodies were around the mountain.
With most areas of the mountain now covered in blood, terror swept through the bodies of the remaining students.
They were seriously baffled about what was occurring on the mountain, there was no sign or even presence of someone other than them on the mountain, and yet every second, a body was split and hacked into several parts.
To then make it all worse, the method of hacking and body displacement was similar to what they had done to Vernon’s body earlier.
“Look….”
A trembling voice sounded from one of the students, and as the others moved their gaze to where he was staring, their mouths widened.
Fear gripped them tightly, and the majority staggered backward, as laying on the mountain right in front of them was Vernon.
Apart from him laying on the mountain, he was spotless... There wasn’t even a wrinkle on his clothes, not to talk of bruises around his body.
“Y-You...”
One of the students stuttered.
Slowly, he went to his knees, and even though Vernon’s eyes were shut closed, a smile hung on his face upon the student’s reaction.
The aura around the student from the assassin division suddenly changed.
As students from the division, what sort of terror hadn’t they passed through? Their motto was well known around the academy, it was either to kill or to be killed and staring at Vernon, they recalled that motto.
Quickly, they tightened their hands around their weapons.
“Attack!”
Followed by that loud scream, they launched toward Vernon.
They charged at full speed, with a deadly amount of killing intent excluding out of their body, and each student was ready to unleash their full attack on Vernon and end him.
Those who specialized in delivering long-range attacks made their move, and the close-range attack once they got close to Vernon.
Time seemed to slow down, and just as both attacks were to come in contact with Vernon, his mouth opened slightly, and he said.
“What goes up, must come down, and what’s sent to Ye, must be sent back.”
As those words left Vernon’s mouth, the expression on the student’s face changed greatly.
They seem to realize something.
However, before any of them could gather the pieces of the puzzle together, the hair on their body stood on the end.
Slowly, an obscure image of the grim reaper emerged in the eyes of the student of the assassin division.
The feeling of death soon became familiar, and just as one of them opened his mouth to speak, blood spurt out of his mouth. He slowly turned to his colleagues with his eyes and nose dripping with blood.
It took no longer than three seconds, and he stumbled to the ground.
Thud!
As the male students dropped dead, more students followed after him. And within a few seconds, every student from the assassin division collapsed on top of the mountain.
Vernon’s eyes were still closed, but as the student dropped dead from having to deal with their own attack, he slowly nodded his head.
An eyebrow was suddenly raised by Vernon, he seemed to have noticed something, however, he didn’t have to ponder about it too long, as five figures appeared in front of him.
“I see, you have finally decided to show up,” Vernon said.
Staring at Vernon who placed his hand behind his head, laying on the mountain seemingly relaxed despite the bodies and body parts around him, a bone-chilling frown appeared on the face of the death merchant.
They soon moved their gaze from Vernon to the student on the mountain, and less than a second afterward, killing intent burst out of their body.
“Vernon Orleans!!!!!” Karmau exclaimed.
Vernon smirked, “Stop shouting, you’re clearly the one wrong here.” Vernon said, turning towards Karmau and the others.
Even though his eyes were still closed, he gave the feeling that he was able to see the five of them.
“Since you brought a dog to a lion’s den, shouldn’t you be prepared for its demise?” Vernon asked.
