Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 421: Future Plans
In the central courtyard, several long tables had been set up.
The kitchen teams had cooked large pots of food using the fresh produce harvested from the gardens the survivors had tilled and the supplies collected during hunts.
Tonight, everyone would eat together.
Only Leng Pan, Lu Zhen, and Lu Hao were missing from the leadership. But everyone understood that they had fought the fiercest battle and needed rest.
Lu Tao sat down heavily at one of the tables and grabbed a bowl of steaming stew.
"This is the best meal of my life," he declared dramatically.
Uncle Li, who was in charge of the kitchen laughed as he walked over with cups of fresh juice made from strawberries grown by his wife.
"You say that during every meal." He said to his nephew.
"Well, it’s the truth. Who made my uncle such a good cook? The food you cook has become even more delicious and contains more energy." Lu Tao said seriously.
Indeed, as he advanced, the food Uncle Li cooked became tastier and the energy contained inside increased as well.
Before, his superpower only changed the taste of the food. Making it more delicious.
But now, the food contained energy that could help superpower users recover faster or even advance their abilities.
And tonight, he had cooked personally with the other cooks being assistants.
Thus, everyone who had participated in the battle was recovering as they ate.
Nearby, Sonny quietly handed bowls to several injured fighters. Even though he had been in the battle too, he was more experienced.
After all, he was there in the last apocalypse on ancient earth.
Even the usually silent Blaze and Silk were helping distribute food.
They were different from the usually serious elite soldiers. They were now caring for civilians who had taken up arms to defend their home.
The atmosphere was warm. Just like a family.
After the meal, everyone who participated in the battle went to their houses to rest while others remained to clean up.
The following morning after breakfast, Leng Pan and Lu Zhen who had left the space bangle called for a meeting in the square outside the building.
Some chairs and tables were set outside for the leaders while the rest of the residents stood in one big crowd.
Leng Pan watched from a distance for a moment before finally walking over to one of the tables and sitting down beside Lu Zhen.
Lu Hao had also followed them and sat on the other side of his elder brother.
For a while, no one spoke as Leng Pan watched the people discussing different issues.
Finally, Leng Pan cleared her throat, attracting everyone’s attention.
Her eyes moved slowly across the courtyard filled with survivors.
There were families, children, and the elderly. Fighters and soldiers mixed among them as well.
These were people who had stood up and fought when aliens invaded. They were heroes of both their country and earth.
She finally spoke.
"You all saw what happened yesterday. We are still not strong enough because our enemies keep getting stronger. So, we have to get stronger too. We don’t want to be helpless if those invaders send stronger soldiers next time."
"What happens after we are stronger?" Lu Tao, the ever curious one asked and in the quiet ground, everyone heard his question.
Hundreds of pairs of eyes looked at Leng Pan curiously. Waiting for her reply.
Her gaze lifted toward the bright sky.
"And then we take the war to them."
Lu Zhen’s lips curved into a faint smile.
"That sounds like a good plan."
Several people rolled their eyes when they heard his comment.
They knew that no matter what Leng Pan said, Lu Zhen would support her. So, even if her plan was horrible, he would still say it was great.
Fortunately, Leng Pan was a good Commander.
A murmur spread through the crowd after Leng Pan’s words.
Take the war to them.
Some people thought that was impossible. They didn’t know the strength of the aliens and humans fighting back against the alien empire that had been sending wave after wave of monsters and soldiers was unimaginable.
Yet when they remembered yesterday’s battle, their hesitation slowly faded.
They had been able to destroy a portal and even killed that alien Commander who seemed to have impenetrable defense.
Perhaps... it wasn’t impossible after all.
They could really take the war to the aliens and win. After all, earth was their territory.
Silk leaned on the table in front of him and spoke first.
"Commander Leng, are you saying we wipe out the aliens on earth and find a way to destroy them from the source as well or what?"
Leng Pan thought for a moment before speaking.
"If there is a way to destroy them from the source, we will take that step once all the aliens on earth are eliminated."
"By the way, did you all notice how we fought the aliens for so long but no zombies showed up? How did that happen with all the noise and with how it usually attracts zombies?" Janna suddenly asked with her small teenage voice.
Leng Pan smiled when she heard the question.
She was glad that the people in the base were learning. They had become observant. Even Janna noticed this.
"It’s not that zombies didn’t show up. They came but they didn’t get a chance to get close to the main battlefield." She explained with a smile.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Janna asked in confusion.
"When I realized that the aliens were attacking, I knew it wouldn’t be an easy battle and we couldn’t afford to be distracted or fight other enemies while getting attacked by others. So, I dispatched soldiers to surround the battlefield at a distance and eliminate every zombie that showed up. Luckily, we have been clearing the zombies near the base regularly, so there weren’t many zombies attacking."
Everyone was surprised by her meticulous planning and were glad that they followed someone with such vision.
