Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 408: All-Out War
That night, the family had the most peaceful sleep they had had since the three youngsters left on a mission.
The following morning, their family routine resumed where they had breakfast together and talked about their plans.
"You should rest for at least one day. You guys went through an intense battle and need to recharge. Don’t rush to go fighting zombies and aliens again." Uncle Li spoke once they were done eating.
"Yes, your uncle is right. You need to rest for your bodies to get to their peak. If you go out again today, it might be counterproductive." Li Yunjia added a little too enthusiastically.
Leng Pan could tell that she was not as rational as Uncle Li. She was just being emotional and scared that they would face danger if they went out and might not be as lucky as the day before.
However, understanding where she was coming from and also needing to rest, Leng Pan agreed readily.
"We won’t go anywhere today. We can inspect how the base is coming along and see if there are other changes to be made."
"Yes. I wonder how sturdy the walls of this building are after that stone has remained here for so long?" Lu Tao suddenly jumped to ask and everyone turned to the spot the stone had been sitting for weeks.
Without waiting for others to say anything, he stood up and ran to the storage room only to come back with a huge hammer. God knows where he got that from.
He walked to the wall separating the apartment and the corridor and lifted the hammer high before bringing it down.
The hammer hit the wall with such force that stone would have turned to sand. Yet, there wasn’t even a dent on the wall. Not even a small crack.
As if he had found something fascinating, Lu Tao lifted the hammer again and this time, he used all his strength. Yet, the results were the same.
Not a single crack appeared.
This intrigued everyone.
"I didn’t expect that stone to be so effective in reinforcement. I am guessing now even small bombs can’t do anything to this wall. But what about the other parts that are further from the stone?" Uncle Li wondered and Lu Tao, right on cue walked to the other side of the living room and repeated his experiment, but the result was the same.
After trying hammering every part of the house, everything was the same.
So, they moved to Leng Pan’s apartment and the results remained the same.
"It seems that this stone strengthens everything evenly. Even though it’s on the top floors, it’s possible that the lower floors are reinforced the same." Leng Pan commented happily.
"I am going to test the surrounding buildings. Then we will know whether the stone can only protect and reinforce the building it is placed in or the surroundings as well." Lu Tao happily took his hammer and left.
No one bothered to stop him.
Even though Lu Hao was the one who hatched from his pod not long ago, he was more mature than Lu Tao, which surprised everyone, but since he had been given the identity of the last born, they could only endure.
After Lu Tao ran out, Lu Hao turned to Leng Pan and said, "After recovering my strength, I can sense alien energy. It is similar to those who attacked us in that stadium. At the moment, I feel that signature energy just within the five kilometers mark."
"You have become that accurate?" Leng Pan asked in surprise.
"That is not the concern right now. The main concern is that there are aliens so close to our base." Lu Zhen sighed while looking at his overenthusiastic wife.
"Oh! That’s true." Leng Pan seemed to have come back to her senses and replied solemnly.
"We should start attacking them actively. Since we have already declared an all-out war, there is no need to hide our strength anymore." Lu Zhen declared and the room went quiet.
This day was bound to come from the moment meteorites crashed into earth and spread the zombie virus.
"Alright, let’s call for a meeting to start making plans. We cannot just attack them without a plan." Uncle Li suggested and both Leng Pan and Lu Zhen agreed readily.
"Okay. The sooner we begin, the sooner we can cleanse earth again." Leng Pan had no objections and agreed once again.
Within an hour, the core members of the base gathered in the room that had been converted to training room before on the upper floor.
A large map of the city was spread across a table that Leng Pan had taken out of her space bangle.
The map was one of those Lu Zhen had printed before the apocalypse officially began. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Lu Tao had drawn detailed markings in red and blue. Zombie clusters and known alien sightings. Their information collection team, led by Vanish had a lot of success in the past few days when Leng Pan and Lu Zhen had left the base to go to the testing center.
Lu Hao stood quietly near the window, eyes closed as if meditating.
He was still not used to so many people but he wanted to help his family.
So, he was trying to sense their surroundings and see if he will find the hiding spots of zombies and especially, aliens.
"There is a slight disturbance on the North-west area. Underground. The are not moving much, but there is definitely alien signature energy coming from there." He finally opened his eyes and said.
"Can you tell the exact distance from here?" Lu Zhen turned to look at his new younger brother and asked.
"Approximately four point eight kilometers." Lu Hao replied confidently.
Uncle Li was quiet for a moment, then asked, "Are they scouting or just stationary?"
"They seem to be just observing. Not doing anything much." Lu Hao replied.
"Is it possible that we were followed yesterday after our battle?" Leng Pan suddenly asked.
