Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 394: Large Amounts of Supplies
Leng Pan took almost two hours to recover to her peak. This was also because the air was too dry and there was no moisture to absorb.
So, she could only use crystal cores to meditate and recover.
The others were doing the same. They had fought with the zombies on their way in and hadn’t had time to recover before AA showed up.
Another group was going around the third floor collecting all the supplies they could find.
Luckily, the aliens were generous in their treatment of the modified humans. After all, they were training their slaves and they had to make sure they were strong enough for when they went to war with humans.
And since they had been making preparations for decades since the program started, there were many supplies in the building.
Once they had cleaned up the third floor, they proceeded to the fourth floor.
They weren’t surprised to find it as clean as the third floor. All the zombies seemed to have been forced to the lower floors and outside the building.
Lu Tao was also searching for components he could use to make more advanced equipment and devices for his family and base.
He found many things that couldn’t be seen normally, and also some pieces of special meteorite.
It seemed that they were used during the modification process of wiping out their emotions and making them stronger than ordinary people.
That was the reason those modified humans were stronger even those without a superpower.
The fourth floor had many rooms that resembled regular hospital consultation rooms with chairs, a table, and a bed.
There were supplies of regular medicine like antibiotics and such.
Without leaving anything behind, the team packed everything in boxes and moved them to the corridor.
The fifth floor was the cafeteria where the staff of the testing center dined. It was arranged like a normal cafeteria with tables and chairs, allowing doctors and nurses to sit together and talk while eating.
On one side was the kitchen and a long counter where people could queue to get their food.
The group walked into the kitchen and found it just as clean. It didn’t seem abandoned. One could even smell the aroma of cooked rice still lingering in the air.
The bowls, plates, knives, and other cutlery were arranged neatly in drawers or shelves. All clean. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Large pots and pans hand on hooks on the wall as if deliberately to avoid congesting the area on the floor.
Without any form of shyness, the team got to work and the plates, bowls, and other cutlery were packed in bags and boxes and placed outside the door of the cafeteria.
Behind the kitchen was a door that no one knew where it led, but when they opened it, they were shocked.
It was a store room used to store food.
What surprised them, however, was how much food there was.
The store room wasn’t small, but it wasn’t big either. About a hundred square meters, but it was filled to the ceiling with supplies.
On one side were different types of food including bags of rice, flour, beans, and other dry foods.
There were even large bags filled with milk powder. One would wonder if the adults used to take milk daily like children.
On the left side after stepping through the door, there were piles of boxes filled with kitchen towels, piping bags, aluminum foil, cling film, and other miscellaneous items used in the kitchen.
Everything was clean and in good condition, showing that they had not been neglected.
On the other side, there were sealed plastic bags filled with dried foods such as fruits and vegetables.
There were dried grapes, mangoes, oranges, and other fruits. There were also bags of dried mushrooms and other vegetables.
Looking at all that food, the team was surprised. They hadn’t come across such a large harvest in a long time.
"Pack everything up. We are cleaning this place completely." Lu Tao ordered as he got to work.
The others followed suit and soon, the place was filled with the happy chatter of teammates who were rejoicing for finding such good food.
The sixth floor was surprisingly also filled with supplies. It looked more like a warehouse.
Although it wasn’t full, there were a lot of supplies and this time, it wasn’t just food. There were many types of traditional medicinal herbs used in different ways and for curing different diseases.
Without standing on ceremony, the team got to packing.
This continued for almost two hours before reaching the eighth floor where Lu Tao finally found what they were looking for.
It was a floor with different doors each with different testing machines.
Lu Tao opened each room and examined the machines carefully.
He read the labels and learned what he needed to know about what each machine did.
After looking around for a while, Lu Tao finally found DNA testing equipment. It was more advanced than what he had expected.
But considering that the center involved aliens, he bet the machines could test alien DNA.
After finding it, he left the others to keep looking around and went back to the third floor to tell his sister-in-law.
Walking into the lounge, Leng Pan had already finished recovering. She was lying on the sofa with her eyes closed as if asleep.
Lu Zhen was sitting on the opposite sofa with his legs crossed in meditation.
The others were scattered around the room also resting or using crystal cores to cultivate and improve their strength.
The modified humans were all huddled in one corner, some still crying, and others with empty eyes.
One could see thick guilt in their lifeless eyes.
Even though Lu Tao was young, he still understood what they were going through.
They had made sacrifices thinking that it would help their loved ones, only to find out their sacrifice would only harm others.
They had abandoned their families for a goal they believed would keep them safe only to find out it would put the people they loved in more danger.
