Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 373: Old Acquaintances
Boss Wang looked coldly at the woman who was overestimating herself and continued.
"If you offend her, I won’t say a word in your defense even if she turns you into minced meat." Boss Wang, who noticed the woman eyeing Lu Zhen, warned solemnly.
He wanted to never see that Woman Lu Zhen married again in his life.
Too bad they had chosen to trick survivors like this and they had invited the Buddhas to their temple.
Now they had to lock themselves in the hidden chamber until those two gods of plague leave.
Leng Pan didn’t take Boss Wang and his crew seriously.
Just as they expected, even though the temperature outside skyrocketed to 80°, it was about 60° in the basement.
So, it could be considered cooler. Leng Pan also created ice blocks and standing fans were placed in various spots connected to solar batteries to blow cool air in the room.
The set up ended up making the room quite comfortable.
The team spent the whole day playing games such as poker and other offline games.
They also ate the rations they had packed during meal time. When the sun set and the temperature went down, they didn’t even bother with saying goodbye to Boss Wang as they packed and left the basement.
Their car was in the same spot they had left it. Some zombies had gathered nearby, attracted by the smell of living humans, but they couldn’t find them since they were underground.
After a short battle with the zombies, they collected the crystal cores of the zombies they had killed, refilled the cars with gasoline and continued with their journey.
The further they were from the last base they had seen, the more zombies they encountered.
This showed that the area hadn’t been explored very much by survivors. So, zombies were still large in numbers.
But it also meant that supplies were significant as well.
If they wanted to collect more supplies, particularly with the increased number of people they needed to support at the base, they had to target unventured areas like this one.
"Should we collect supplies in this town now or on our way back?" Leng Pan asked Lu Zhen as she threw another handful of ninja weapons at the zombies running after their vehicle.
"Let’s do it now. What if someone else comes along while we are at the testing center and sweeps the place clean?" Lu Zhen didn’t want to take chances.
He was aware that in the apocalypse, what you had in your hands is what belonged to you.
Maybe even if it’s in your hands, it could still get robbed. However, he didn’t think anyone would dare to rob them, except for those fools following Boss Wang of course.
"Okay then, let’s park somewhere and explore this place." Leng Pan agreed immediately.
She also believed that what they had in their hands was what belonged to them.
Leaving the place like this to come and collect supplies later just because it was inhabited wasn’t a smart choice.
If someone with a mission like them passes by and notices the abundance of resources and decides to collect the supplies first, then they would have lost big time.
Their conversation wasn’t done in secret, so everyone in the car heard them and began to search for the best place to park their vehicles.
Juan Ke took the communication device he had received from Lu Tao before they left for the mission and contacted the driver of the other car.
He explained their plan to him then focused on looking for a place to park the vehicle.
They finally found a parking lot with a space, even though half of it had collapsed from being bombarded by meteorites and half the cars in the parking lot were buried in rubble.
The group got out of their cars and a battle began even before their feet fully touched the ground.
A roar of a zombie was heard from a short distance away, then zombies came running like crazy and attacked the team like they were on a mission to finish them off.
Leng Pan immediately understood that the zombie roaring was a spiritual type zombie.
It could use its superpower to communicate with other zombies and give them orders that they had to follow.
Such zombies advanced by eating humans with superpowers or other zombies who had awakened abilities.
From the large number of zombies this one was controlling, it was obvious that its level wasn’t low.
It must at least be a level three zombie. But this was almost impossible to find.
Zombies were evolving a little slowly, although the heat seemed to be a tonic to them, this was still a little too much.
However, Leng Pan couldn’t linger in her thoughts as she was soon surrounded by a large horde of zombies and she had to fight with everything she had to keep them from scratching her.
She chose to transform water into a long sword that cut down zombies like a hot knife through butter.
She had laced the sword with spiritual spring water which was probably the biggest nemesis for zombies.
Lu Zhen had a similar sword, but it was made out of pure crimson fire with a purple hue in the middle.
It was probably the hottest version he could make.
Unfortunately, the people around the two were suffering from the heat and almost couldn’t concentrate on the battle.
Luckily, Juan Ke had forced them to train under harsh conditions, making heat more bearable to them than normal.
As the battle went on, Leng Pan thought of something and immediately created a whirlpool under her feet, lifting her up above the ground.
She moved with the whirlpool to the spot behind most of the attacking zombies and located the spiritual zombie that was giving them a hard time.
Without a second thought, she imagined washing that zombie with hot boiling water and the next second, water that was hotter than the 100° boiling point poured from the sky.
