Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 353: Danger on the Ice

Lu Zhen walked to the window to draw the curtains and was surprised to find that all the ice on the walls of the buildings around had melted completely.

The walls were back to the way they were before.

However, the surface of the ice on the ground hadn’t changed much. It resembled an ice skating rink.

There were also children and a few adults on the ice either playing or busking in the sun.

When he opened the window, hot, but humid air rushed in and the room soon felt different from before.

It became a little hotter but the ventilation worked better with the windows open.

It was at that moment that he opened the window, that noise also filled his ears.

Children were laughing and running around on the ice while adults were expressing their joy at the change of temperature they had finally experienced.

Those overly optimistic ones even began thinking that the apocalypse had ended and life would go back to normal.

Because Leng Pan lost the comfort of Lu Zhen’s arms, she woke up soon.

The first scene she saw when she opened her eyes was her husband standing at the window with the golden light from the sun shining on him.

He resembled a perfect God descending to earth.

Leng Pan’s heart skipped a beat at the sight and a warm smile appeared on her face.

She got out of bed and walked over to her husband, wrapping her arms around her waist and laying on his back.

Even though she was standing behind him, Leng Pan could feel her husband’s heart rate accelerate with just her touch.

This was something she was very proud of. She could get a genuine reaction from her husband with just a simple touch.

"Good morning, hubby." Her still sleepy voice echoed within the bedroom.

"Good morning, Baby. Did you sleep well?" Lu Zhen knew how uncomfortable the night before had been for his wife, especially in the early morning hours, but he still felt it necessary to ask about her sleep.

This was just showing care and concern for his partner even when it was thought to be unnecessary.

"I slept well. A little hot, but we’ll."

"That’s good."

"Are these people just ignorant or are they acting stupid? With the rate at which the ice on the walls melted even before the sun was out, how could they be so comfortable on the ice?" Leng Pan felt that the people running around on the ice outside were courting disaster.

"Even if you talk to them now, no one will listen. Let them reap what everyone sowed." Lu Zhen didn’t like meddling in other people’s business, especially when he knew it was a losing business.

"It’s just a pity that there are young children who know nothing." Leng Pan didn’t care about the adults who clearly had a brain to think but chose to do something so dangerous, but the children were innocent.

"If we meddle now, they will become a burden later. We might even get blamed for things we didn’t do." Lu Zhen wasn’t a soft-hearted human being. Anything that threatened him or his family would be avoided or eliminated.

"You are right. If we act, and some people get hurt or die, they might even blame us for not acting earlier or for failing to save everyone.

Human nature has always been greedy, and it is even more so after the apocalypse." Leng Pan thought that it was better to avoid trouble in case she implicated her family or teammates just because she felt sorry for a few people who probably didn’t even deserve it.

If it had been before the day before when those people came to them and tried to force their way into the building, she might have been soft-hearted and acted.

But after what those people from the other buildings did, she had no desire to get involved with strangers.

"Let’s get ready and go eat breakfast. We also need to turn on the air conditioning and other cooling equipment before the temperature becomes unbearable." Lu Zhen said to his wife before turning around and planting a kiss on her forehead. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

"Alright then." Leng Pan had no objection to that and directly headed to the bathroom.

After taking a shower and changing into light summer clothes, both husband and wife headed to the other apartment for breakfast.

Before leaving, the air conditioning installed in the bedroom and living room were both turned on.

Leng Pan looked around the living room as they were leaving and felt that the air conditioning was not enough, so she walked over to a standing fan placed near the television set and turned it on.

She didn’t know if it would contribute to the cooling of the room, but if someone sat close to it, they would definitely feel cooler.

After all this was done, the two left their apartment hand-in-hand.

In the corridor, they met Janna and Juan Ke holding empty containers.

"What’s happening?" Leng Pan asked when the two stopped in their tracks and turned to look at them.

"Oh, we are here to get some ice from the freezer.

It’s so hot it feels like we will melt if this heat keeps rising." Juan Ke was the first to reply and explained why they had come up so early.

"It’s true that it’s too hot already, and the temperature keeps rising.

I hope you guys take care of yourself not to suffer from heatstroke.

Also, don’t take too many cold things at once.

Our bodies are still adjusting to the heat after the extreme cold. Changing too abruptly might cause you to fall sick instead.

So, be careful with what you take." Leng Pan could feel the heat even though she had the water superpower, so she knew how much the others were suffering.

After saying goodbye, Leng Pan and Lu Zhen walked to the door of their mother’s apartment and were about to open the door when a screeching scream came from outside the building where they had seen the children playing.
