Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 345: Danger in the Snow
Some of the people had solar panels they had collected while looking for supplies before.
Even though at the time they had just picked them up because they thought they were going to waste, now they were glad they had taken them.
For those who didn’t have solar panels, Leng Pan was generous enough to offer some.
She also had Lu Zhen and Uncle Li install more solar panels on the balcony of their apartments as well.
Their apartments were the most appropriately set up for the apocalypse but they hadn’t expected the extreme heat to be worse than they remembered.
From their mother’s description, it was not difficult to determine how the world would be once the heat started.
So, they had to add reinforcement before that day arrived.
Luckily, while shopping, Leng Pan had not neglected non-food stuff.
She had bought a lot of things that other people would have thought to be useless.
Now the solar panels and batteries she had bought, and those looted during supply runs came in handy.
The team helped each other and worked all the way until it was completely dark.
Now that there was sun shining, even though the snow outside had not melted yet, the solar energy was enough to charge the batteries that had already been set up.
As a result, the building where Leng Pan and her team lived was lit up as if the electricity supply had never run out.
Other buildings surrounding them were so dark one would think only ghosts lived there.
However, this difference also sparked jealousy in other people’s hearts who became resentful because they couldn’t live as comfortably as the people in that building.
It also gave people other ideas about moving to the building as well.
The next morning after breakfast, Leng Pan was helping her mother-in-law and auntie sort out the vegetables they had just harvested from the farm in the space bangle when she heard quarreling outside the building.
At first she didn’t take it seriously and did care, but as time went by, the argument became so heated that she could feel the fluctuation of superpower energy in the air.
She realized that there were people causing trouble outside the building and someone was trying to stop them.
She walked out and followed the voices to the eighth floor where a small crowd was standing around the window used as a door.
There were a few people outside arguing with them and demanding to be let in as they wanted to move into the building.
Janna had been the first to spot them trying to climb into the building through the window and ran over to inform Juan Ke who lived on the floor below hers.
She had moved to a higher floor when snow started blocking the building.
So, now she was sandwiched between stronger teammates.
She had noticed the abnormality through her little map in her head and although she could tell that those trying to access their building were humans, she didn’t know their motive, so she had informed Juan Ke, who happened to be talking to Momo about something.
The two followed her to the position she had noticed the people trying to get into the building and found that some people were trying to open the window and climb in.
It was there that the argument started because the people outside wanted to come in and occupy the empty apartments in the building, while Juan Ke and the others were stopping them.
They were a team and they didn’t want more people to disrupt them. Moreover, they had some secrets that could not be revealed to outsiders.
It wasn’t that they couldn’t take in more team members, but at least they had to qualify to be their teammates, not troublemakers who only wanted the benefits of living in a building that seemed more comfortable and secure.
It was obvious that the people outside wanted to move in by force after noticing the lights in the building the previous night.
They probably thought that the building still had a supply of electricity, which would make their lives easier.
They didn’t know that everything was the hard work of everyone living there.
Leng Pan listened to the argument for a while before stepping forward.
"Excuse me, we don’t have any empty apartments in the building you can move into. So, please go back." Leng Pan said as she came to stand before the window.
The others gave way naturally when they heard her voice.
Only then did she see the situation outside better.
There were women and men crowding outside with their luggage.
It was obvious that they had not even thought about being rejected when they came.
Some were even carrying children wrapped in dirty blankets.
"How is that possible? There are so many apartments in the building. How can the few of you occupy all of them?" One woman holding a child of about three years asked with a shrieking voice.
It was obvious from the moment she opened her mouth that she was an unreasonable person.
She somehow just assumed that only the few people standing there were the residents of the building.
"There are more people who don’t care about your drama here and have chosen not to come out.
The building is fully occupied. You can go back now." Leng Pan wasn’t the kind of person to sugarcoat something, especially when facing someone so unreasonable.
So, she was blunt with her words, which didn’t sit well with some of the people outside.
"What do you mean by our drama? We just want to live in the building. Is that so much to ask?" Another person outside asked.
It was a man this time. He had emaciated cheeks and it was obvious from the look in his eyes that he was the ruthless kind who would stab you in the back as soon as you turned.
These were the kind of traitors who would collude with aliens for a bite of food.
Leng Pan didn’t want such a dangerous person near her team.
