Hence, that night, almost all the apartments had lights that remained on until late at night.

Since they didn’t know the exact day when the heat would begin, they had to prepare as much as they could when they had the opportunity.

The next morning, food containers and bottles of drinks were placed in baskets and huge buckets and placed in the corridor of the floor the Lu family lived in.

Since they had been told that their stuff could be preserved in Leng Pan’s space, then they had prepared as much as they could.

They would continue to do so until the heat arrived. They were just worried that Leng Pan’s space wouldn’t be enough but they were told not to worry about that for the time being.

With that said, the following week was filled with training on the first half of the day and preparing supplies in the second half.

There wasn’t just food and drinks to prepare. They also had to prepare clothes light enough to keep the heat away and breathable while also protecting them from sunburn.

Because of the amount of heat that was expected, Leng Pan realized that they were going to need a lot of sunscreen when the heat began.

She had bought a large amount of daily necessities before the apocalypse began, including skin care products.

However, she wasn’t sure that the amount of sunscreen would be enough for everyone.

This wasn’t just about applying a layer of sunscreen when leaving the house. They would probably need to apply a thick layer of sunscreen several times an hour.

Now that she thought about it, the hundreds or so boxes of sunscreen might not be enough. Especially since they had more people now who had not prepared any supplies before the apocalypse.

During dinner that evening, the other members of the family noticed that Leng Pan was absent-minded and poking her food without eating as if something was bothering her.

Thus, Lu Zhen asked her what was wrong because he didn’t like seeing his wife so down.

"I am wondering how we are going to get more sunscreen when the snow is still falling so heavily." Leng Pan said with a sigh.

"What do you mean, sister-in-law?" Lu Tao asked curiously because he didn’t understand why sunscreen was mentioned at the dining table.

"You heard what Mom said. The heat will be too extreme to the point that it could dehydrate and cause heatstroke even when someone is in the house.

That means there are possibilities of sunburn even in the house and it could be severe and cause skin problems that might later evolve into something more serious.

So, I was thinking that we cannot just take measures to prevent dehydration and prepare cooling soups and drinks but not care about the exterior.

So, we will probably need a lot of sunscreen to be safe. But the sunscreen I have stocked up will definitely not be enough for everyone. What do we do then before the heat begins?" Leng Pan explained her dilemma to everyone.

When they heard her concern, the family realized that it was valid.

They had indeed thought of everything else except how to prevent complications arising from sunburns.

"What about we wait until the snow melts and we can go out to search for sunscreen?

It won’t be too hot to go out at night anyway." Auntie Li suggested.

However, this suggestion was shot down by Lu Zhen.

"If we wait until the extreme heat has started then we might not be able to get anything.

More people will be looking for sunscreen and other things related to the extreme heat, making it harder for us to find as much as we might need.

Also, the possibility of expiration due to the heat will also increase. So, it’s better to find more while the heat hasn’t shot up yet."

"But how do we do that when we can’t even see beyond a few meters due to the heavy snow?" Lu Tao grumbled softly.

"How about the last days of the extreme cold? The snow will definitely stop falling before the heat increases.

We will have a window of at least a day or two when the snow isn’t falling but the ground will be covered by ice.

We will have to find a way to deal with that." Li Yunjia suddenly said and that gave people some hope.

"We can always melt the ice where we need to or curve it out. That shouldn’t be a big problem." Leng Pan was happy that there was still hope.

She hoped that more people could also prepare.

"How about sending a message so that more citizens could prepare for the extreme heat the same way they prepared for the extreme cold?

Even though some people doubted the last message, they should have learned their lesson and won’t be so conceited this time." She added.

The others felt that it made sense and nodded in support of her suggestion.

However, this will also increase the number of people searching for heat-related supplies." Lu Zhen informed.

"It doesn’t matter. We can plan directly where to go instead of searching blindly.
