Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 324: Taking Lessons from The Past
After a few more plans for training were put in place, the group dispersed.
As soon as they walked into the corridor, Juan Ke couldn’t help and asked about what they had been talking about since it felt like they were speaking in code language.
"Oh, that was about the past. You guys should already know about the first apocalypse, right?" Momo asked while looking seductively at Juan Ke.
She liked this guy. He wasn’t old, only in his thirties but was very steady and mature. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Because they already had the information of the new members, she knew that he was recently divorced and his wife ran off with a gang boss.
But she couldn’t help being attracted to him.
"Yes, we saw the preserved memories. What about it?" Juan Ke, who noticed the way Momo looked at him, replied calmly.
He didn’t know what her end game was and he was in no mood to play games now. Not with everything going on and what he had experienced with his wife.
"Well, that situation might have been better if we weren’t afraid of some pain.
During sparring, we had avoided training with Commander Leng and Commander Lu because they showed no mercy.
They always said that the enemy would not show mercy when they attacked, and nor would they.
They were obviously preparing us for the worst, but we thought their training method was too brutal and avoided it at all cost.
The result was that when the aliens and traitors finally launched a full-scale war, many soldiers couldn’t even fight back.
They were massacred on the battlefield like flies. It was only then that we realized that what the two commanders were preparing us for was in fact, giving us a way to survive when things got too brutal.
If we are already used to the brutality and could fight back, then we will have an opportunity to survive.
Unfortunately, none of us knew that at the time. We relied too much on our superpowers and neglected body training.
Hence, when our spiritual power dried up while fighting, we could do nothing but wait for death.
We don’t want a repeat of that, so this time no matter how brutal the training is, we will have to persevere.
Juan Ke and the others had indeed seen the situation on that battlefield. If there was a way to prevent so many deaths, then they would definitely take it.
They didn’t want to fall on the battlefield simply because they had little experience yet they refused a chance to gain it.
"Alright then, we will listen to everything Commander Leng and Commander Lu say." Silk said.
He knew that he and his team were skilled, but compared to what they had seen in that memory video, their skills were nothing.
Therefore, with an opportunity to improve, they would not fear hardships.
"Okay, go back and prepare, we will set up a place to train then we can start tomorrow." Ouyang Jin said before turning to climb the stairs.
He had chosen to live on the same floor as Assistant Yao and his mother and occupied the other apartment. He shared his apartment with Vanish while Sonny shared an apartment with Zai.
The girls had picked an apartment lower than Leng Pan and Lu Zhen and also shared.
They didn’t want to stay on the upper floors because the higher you go, the cooler it becomes. The temperature was already low enough, they didn’t want any added problems.
With that said, the group dispersed and everyone went back to their respective houses.
The stairs were coated with a thin layer of ice again and it was slippery. If one wasn’t careful, they could fall and die or at least, get seriously injured.
This time, Lu Zhen had not melted the ice for them because it was also meant to be part of their training.
If they could walk on the stairs successfully without falling and getting hurt, then their control of body weight and balance would have reached a new peak.
This was also important in their training and fighting.
With good control of the body and its strength, they would not waste unnecessary energy when facing enemies in the future.
Even though no one said anything, it was as if everyone had understood that everything represented an opportunity for them to train.
So, even those with a fire superpower did not melt the ice and chose to walk on it.
Moreover, no one was using their abilities. They were all just using their physical strength.
From what Momo said, they had gathered that their superpowers were an unforeseen burden and if they relied too heavily on it, it might fail them at the most critical moment.
In that case, they had to work on their physical strength and skills.
Ouyang Jin, Zai, and Sonny got to work on the apartment they had chosen to be used for training.
Since the living room was big, gym equipment was installed for everyone to use during the workout.
One of the bedrooms was modified to resemble a fighting ring and another was renovated to be used for meditation.
They installed a water dispenser and a small generator in the kitchen.
The rest of the house was as cold as outside.
The generator was only meant to make sure that the water in the dispenser didn’t freeze.
The next morning after breakfast, everyone headed to that apartment for training.
It was surprising that even though the group had become so big, they could all still fit in the living room to work out.
This showed how big the apartments were designed to be.
After some warm up, Leng Pan and Lu Zhen went into the sparring room.
The others were curious and followed behind to watch them spar.
In fact, the two hadn’t sparred since the time they had been training in the basement of the abandoned subway station.
It had been a while and they were rusty.
