Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 321: Moving in Together
The following morning after breakfast, Lu Zhen took out the communication device Lu Tao had made and sent a message to Ouyang Jin.
He had given him one of the communication devices before, hence, it was easier now to communicate.
Even though Ouyang Jin and the others were staying a little far, they still made it to the building Lu Zhen and his family were staying at in three hours.
Blaze also received the same message and he and Vortex and Silk also moved out.
It was at this moment when they had packed their things and we’re about to leave that Raze and his companion finally realized that something was off.
Even though the three had been leaving and coming back without any trace, they had assumed that they were still on a mission and had found clues they were following upon.
However, now that they were leaving, then there would be something wrong with their brains if they couldn’t tell that something had gone seriously wrong.
Raze, who was especially finding it harder to control his emotions, almost erupted. It was their years of companionship that stopped him from going over the edge.
This also proves that even though he had issues with controlling his emotions, he was still a loyal soldier at heart.
He, however, demanded to know what had happened.
Although some things about Lu Zhen and Leng Pan should be hidden, the most obvious ones that would come to light eventually didn’t need so much shielding.
Thus, Blaze explained how they had discovered that the apocalypse was happening for the second time in a few thousand years and also that Commander Qui was a traitor of the human race who colluded with aliens to eliminate other humans.
Raze wasn’t so easily convinced, but he also knew that his companions wouldn’t make up something so elaborate.
Therefore, he decided not to do anything and let them go. He made a decision in his heart that if what they said was true, then someone needed to stay close to Commander Qui as a trusted aid and get as much information as they could.
If his actions ever posed any threat to humanity, then he could communicate with Lu Zhen’s team.
Nonetheless, he said none of this to Blaze and the others, he only said that for the sake of their camaraderie of so many years, he would let them go and not report their defection immediately to Commander Qui so that he could give them a headstart.
Blaze looked at his long-time friend and teammate and sighed as he led Vortex and Silk to leave.
They were in the same community as Lu Zhen and his family, just different buildings. Thus, they didn’t have to walk as far as Ouyang Jin’s group.
The buildings Lu Zhen lived in were among the tallest residential buildings in the city.
Moreover, their community had been one of the least affected during the meteor shower that ruined half of the structures in the world.
With around thirty floors in each building, there was plenty of space in the upper floors for people to live in.
Thus, everyone moved into the upper floors from the thirteenth one.
Even the old residents who lived in lower floors such as the tenth floor moved upward as they were afraid that the weather would keep shifting and it might affect their houses.
Hence, now every floor from the thirteenth floor had two residents. Some even moved above Lu Zhen’s family like Assistant Yao and occupied the upper floors.
This type of cluster occupation also ensured that communication was easier and the whole team could train together.
Also, the soup Uncle Li was planning to share was cooked and placed in hot pots in the corridor of their floor.
Anyone could come from their own floor to get soup to warm themselves up.
But that was a little later when the vegetables planted the previous night had matured and harvested.
On this day, as soon as Ouyang Jin arrived, a meeting was held in the apartment Li Yunjia, Uncle Li, Auntie Li, and Lu Tao shared.
There weren’t many people, but Ouyang Jin, Juan Ke, Assistant Yao, Momo, Silk, and Sonny joined.
They were all served hot tea as soon as they shade their thick fur clothes and sat down.
Looking around the room that had planters placed at different parts of the room near the walls, the newcomers were all surprised.
"Why do you have so many planters? What are they for?" Momo asked as she sat with her legs crossed like an elegant lady.
"We need to eat, Momo. So, of course those are for planting food." Leng Pan replied.
She hadn’t seen the reborn version of Momo before, but she could feel the familiarity right from the soul.
Momo looked at Leng Pan and sighed, "Everyone else got younger, but I got older instead." Anyone would think that she was lamenting and sad but those who knew her could tell that she was gloating for being older than all of them, unlike in their previous lives.
Leng Pan rolled her eyes and turned around to show her the back of her head.
"As if anyone would buy your act." She muttered but was slapped in the face the next second when she heard what her mother-in-law said.
"Don’t worry, you are so young and look even younger. Getting older is a blessing many people can’t get. So, be happy about it." Li Yunjia was seriously giving unsolicited advice.
Leng Pan felt as if she could bang her head in the wall with frustration.
The living room went quiet for a few seconds before everyone recovered.
However, even the slowest to react, auntie Li realized that something was wrong.
Lu Tao was not in the living room as he was in his bedroom fondling his gadgets.
"You are right, I should be happy about getting older even for a day. Now it’s not guaranteed you won’t wake up the next day and turn into a zombie.
