Chapter 133: Chapter 133: Making a Difficult Choice

Lu Zhen first went to the other apartment to call his uncle for help. Moving a truck’s worth of supplies wasn’t easy for one person.

Lu Tao had to stay behind to guard the supplies and couldn’t help carrying them back home. Therefore, Uncle Li’s help was necessary.

When the elders heard that Lu Zhen and the others had brought supplies that filled a whole truck, they were surprised. Even though they had faith in the three youngsters, they had assumed that at least, they would only bring back a couple of carts of food.

When Uncle Li got down to the ground floor and saw the truck overflowing with supplies, he almost screamed from excitement.

There were more supplies than the ones they had bought before the apocalypse. Even if they had those sumptuous meals every day, these supplies would still last them for several months.

He was glad they didn’t have to worry about food. Lu Zhen went to the management office of the building looking for something that could be used to move the supplies in bulk and to his luck, he found several trolleys there.

He took two and went back to start moving supplies with his uncle. They would fill the carts and move the supplies upstairs. After unloading, they took the elevator down again.

The first to be moved were the garbage bags filled with meat. One could smell it even without looking and Uncle Li was astonished by the sheer amount of meat they had brought back.

When the bags were taken upstairs trip after trip, even the two women there felt their hearts go from excitement to numbness.

As Lu Zhen and his Uncle carried the supplies into the apartment, the women started sorting them out and packing them in smaller packaging then storing them in the appropriate section.

This mainly applies to meat, vegetables, and fruits. Since they were perishable, they had to be frozen. The other food was put in the store room or kitchen depending on demand and the family’s needs.

It took the two men more than an hour of moving up and down before they were done. Lu Zhen then went to park the truck and followed his brother and uncle upstairs.

Of course, their activities didn’t go unnoticed by the neighbors. Some with ulterior motives had wanted to go down and ask for some food.

Even the unreasonable woman who had refused to let her husband go out to look for supplies had the same idea.

She thought that the last time the Lu family had refused to give them anything because the remaining food was too little, but now that they had brought so much, they could surely share.

However, her husband was adamant this time. He told her that if she dared to disgrace herself again then he would divorce her.

He had decided to go supply hunting the following day. He just didn’t know what to expect and wanted to ask for advice from Lu Zhen since he had been going out every day and must understand the situation outside better than anyone else.

He didn’t want his wife to go and ruin his chances of getting help just because his wife was unreasonable and felt entitled.

His wife must have some knowledge, and if princess syndrome, and at first he had thought it was because she had been raised as a pampered girl, until he found out that she was just pretending and wasn’t that pampered.

However, he decided to fulfill her wish since he loved her, pampered her, and gave in to her, but she ended up lawless and entitled.

He didn’t want her to continue like that. The apocalypse wasn’t an era in which people could act recklessly. They needed to survive and locking themselves in the house wasn’t going to help in any way.

Therefore, he had made the decision to be tough, otherwise, both of them would perish.

Therefore, when the wife suggested going to ask for some food from the Lu family, her husband shut her down ruthlessly and told her to behave if she didn’t want to brave the apocalypse alone.

Unbeknownst to them, their conversation was heard by the eavesdropper again. Lu Tao was surprised at how firm the husband was in refusing to take advantage of others.

"How can such a reasonable man marry such an unreasonable woman? It doesn’t make sense." He muttered to himself but he was still heard by his family.

After all, everyone there had awakened a type of superpower, and no matter what, their senses had heightened.

"What are you muttering about there?" His mother asked while still packing meat and vegetables.

The job had proven to be somewhat bigger than expected. There were too many supplies.

Lu Zhen and his uncle had already taken the dry supplies such as flour, sugar, rice, oil, and other things into the storage room.

The store room wasn’t small, but almost half of it was already filled with supplies.

Uncle Li looked at all that food and felt gratified. After all, his superpower included food. So, he was happy to have more ingredients to create new recipes and flavors.

"How was your first day as a real apocalypse survivor?" Mother Lu asked her younger son.

"What do you mean by a real apocalypse survivor? Wasn’t I real before?" Lu Tao asked with a confused mind and an eye roll.

"Of course not, even I can’t call myself a real apocalypse survivor. I haven’t left the house to go out and experience what it was like outside.

I have only seen zombies on the screen. So, I can’t say that I know what the apocalypse was like.

It was your first day going out today. How was the experience?" Li Yunjia explained to her son what she meant in detail.

Indeed, they couldn’t be said to be real apocalypse survivors if they hadn’t even seen a zombie up close let alone kill one.

"The zombies are more disgusting than they appear, and they can be very fast sometimes.

They don’t show mercy when attacking humans and could eat a person while they are still alive. I witnessed something like that today and my sister-in-law said it was normal.

Getting distracted, even a little, could end your life. But they aren’t hard to kill. I didn’t fight at close range like my big brother and sister-in-law, but I killed many of them with bullets.

From what I observed today, where even a small scratch or a bite would turn a perfectly fine human into a zombie, humanity is heading towards extinction and we need to find a better way to survive.
