Chapter 115: Chapter 115: More Enemies

"Have you found the catalyst core or whoever took it?" The rough voice came from the laptop.

"Not yet Commander Qiu. But Vortex found a residue energy signature from the scene and is following it. We will find it soon." Blaze was the one on the other end and replied.

"How useless are you people? Do I need to send more people? With such advanced technology than any other group on this planet, you can’t find a single person?" Commander Qiu retorted with anger laced in his voice.

"Sorry Commander Qiu, we will double our efforts and find them soon." Came the reply from the obviously younger and scared man.

"You better hurry up. The faster we find the catalyst core, the faster our power can grow, then even if she comes, we will have nothing to fear." Commander Qiu replied immediately and hung up the call.

The bedroom fell into an eerie silence. Lu Zhen and Leng Pan were aware that the catalyst core these people were searching for was the meteorite they picked up. Meaning that they were the ones being tracked.

This also explained the feeling Leng Pan had when she said someone or something was tracking them and trying to investigate her space.

The so-called energy signature the people on the call were talking about should be the remaining energy at the roadside spot where they had picked up that rock.

The two were glad that they had advanced their superpowers. But who was this ’she’ that such an arrogant and obviously powerful commander Qiu was afraid of that he had to have the meteorite to strengthen himself?

"Keep digging, see if you find something else. Like, what is this advanced technology they are talking about?

Is there somewhere we can find some?" Lu Zhen instructed his little brother as he pondered about the significance of this message.

For some reason, he had a hunch that all that was happening was not a coincidence. Somehow, they were involved and if they didn’t get stronger soon, they would be in trouble.

"Alright, by the way, I made something with parts I gathered from dismantled laptops and satellite radios.

Let me get them." Lu Tao said as he got up and went to open a drawer near his bed.

When Lu Zhen heard his brother talk about dismantled laptops and satellite radios, he remembered that he had put some of the supplies in his study and those must be the emergency devices he had put there.

However, since they could help his brother with his ability and work, he didn’t mind them being destroyed.

"Have you heard or seen anything unusual around here recently?" Leng Pan asked her little brother-in-law as he was their spy.

His hearing and vision kept getting better and the distance it could cover had increased to almost three kilometers.

Now, as long as he concentrates, those people looking for them won’t get to them without warning.

"Not really, but people have begun to realize that the problem at hand couldn’t be solved by the government. freeweɓnovel~cѳm

More and more people are starting to go out and kill zombies everyday while looking for supplies.

Also, the death toll has reduced in the last couple of days. At first, many people would band together into teams to head out and collect supplies in their cars or motorcycles.

Others even took tricycles and bicycles. However, they would be overwhelmed by their fear of zombies and lack of fighting skills and end up losing many lives.

But with a little more experience and those who had awakened superpowers finally learning how to use them, teams have lowered their mortality rate considerably.

Now, a team would lose only two or three people. But with the adaptation rate of the people now, in less than a week that death rate would reduce. At least, for the people with combat experience and those who had gotten their hands on weapons." Lu Tao explained everything that had happened in the past few days.

The two had indeed detected some survivors out on supply runs but had taken it as people who had been trapped in those buildings.

Now, it looked like the human instinct for survival had awakened. The people had finally realized that they couldn’t depend on the government and started to fend for themselves.

"That’s good. At least, now that they have started to fight back, the zombie population will reduce considerably and the remaining human population can survive better." Leng Pan said with a distressed emotion that she didn’t even know where it came from.

Lu Zhen, sitting next to her felt that little emotional change and held her hand to offer silent comfort.

Leng Pan looked at her husband and smiled. Feeling as if the gloomy feeling had been swept away by the warmth coming from his hand.

"Here are some watches I made. They have vital energy sensors to track your bodily functions. They can detect the presence of other people from a distance of five hundred meters. I tried but couldn’t make the distance longer, but failed.

They also have the ability to detect unusual energy signatures within a radius of fifty miles and can act as a compass.

I am trying to create a special frequency that only the holders of this watch can use to communicate, but it’s still work in progress." Lu Tao explained as he handed two identical watches to his brother and sister-in-law.

He scratched the back of his head as he felt that he was giving them a half-baked item.

But his brother and sister-in-law’s reaction was different from what he expected. They didn’t despise his simple set up but instead praised him for being a genius.

"You did well. Don’t overwork yourself and make sure you rest more." Lu Zhen said as he removed his usual watch and wore the one Lu Tao gave him.

"You are indeed amazing little brother. Making something this advanced in only a few days. Looks like your computer ability has improved a lot. Keep working harder. But just as your brother said, make sure to rest." Leng Pan really didn’t expect such a surprise.

"Thanks. The transparent dots on the side will light in different colors depending on the situation. If the red one lights up, it means that there are people within five hundred meters of your position carrying lethal weapons.

If the purple dot lights up, it means that there is an object or a place with an unusual energy within fifty miles and a compass will automatically appear to show the specific direction.

These things will be alerted to you through a silent vibration on your wrist. I didn’t include a sound as I thought it might attract unnecessary attention and bring danger."
