Revenge Wears Red Lipstick-Chapter 161: Two Weeks Later
Two weeks have passed, two weeks since Mr. De Rossi’s arrest, two weeks since he was taken to court, and a week since he’d been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Eva and Dante had been happy about the outcome of everything they’d been through together.
Everyone was happy and no one needed to worry about Mr. De Rossi attacking them at any time.
The election was now only one month away. However, since Mr. De Rossi, a potential candidate, had to withdraw after his crimes were revealed to the public, his opponent, Mr. Robert Myka, was the only one running for the position.
Since he was a powerful man, other politicians who didn’t have a strong backbone couldn’t bring themselves to campaign for the presidential position.
Eva checked the time, and it was only 2pm.
Today was the day she was going to visit Katherine at her house.
She hadn’t seen Katherine since the latter was discharged. And although Katherine had made it clear to her that she didn’t want to see her or do anything with her, Eva didn’t want to give up yet.
Goosebumps still appeared on her skin still thinking about it. But she wasn’t going to give up so easily.
"Are you sure you don’t want me to come along?" Dante asked, his arms snaking to wrap around her waist as he pulled her towards him so close she touched his member.
Rosy hue painted her cheeks as she tried to get away from him, but his grip only tightened.
"You don’t have to. I can go myself. You already gave me the address so I’ll keep you in contact while I’m there," she responded.
Back when Katherine was still at the hospital, Dante had assigned one of his men to tail her and report exactly where they lived.
Dante nuzzled his head on her shoulders, breathing in her scent. This was his favorite thing to do, a habit that he never wanted to kill anytime soon.
"I still want to come with you," he insisted. "What if she tries to hurt you?"
He never trusted Katherine right from the start. She had always been an evil person. And although she was Eva’s sister, he still didn’t trust her one bit.
"Dante, you don’t need to." She turned to face him, her arms circling his neck. "I’ll be fine. And for security purposes, I’ll be taking a gun with him." She glanced at the pistol lying on the bed and his gaze landed on it. "See, I’m prepared."
Dante hummed, certain that he wasn’t going to change her mind.
"Alright. But be careful. I don’t trust that woman or her...." He paused, eyebrows furrowing as he struggled to find the right words for it. "Accomplice." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Eva couldn’t agree more. After all, Marcus had tried to kill her before. She didn’t trust him either but that wasn’t going to stop her from repairing her relationship with Katherine.
Bygones were bygones.
She stood on the tips of her toes and planted a kiss on his lips.
They shared eye contact before Dante’s gaze landed on her lips.
"Are you sure you want to continue that?" He slurred.
Eva quickly moved from him before things got too heated for both of them.
Somewhere else...
"You need to hurry up! This is our perfect chance to leave."
"Do I look like I’m not trying?" Katherine bellowed right back at Marcus. "This is all your fault!"
Mason paused to glare at her but didn’t say anything. He ignored her words and hurried up with his packing.
This was the day they were supposed to leave the city and start afresh somewhere else. But someone from the gang he worked for somehow found out that he was planning on running away and now, there was a high chance that someone had already informed his boss.
He had been in the business for only a year. However, he’d managed to get the trust of their boss. There was only one rule in their business, once you got in, you could never get out.
"Mummy, is something wrong?" Jacob asked, his eyes teary as he watched his parents hurry in a frenzy, arguing about the things he didn’t understand. His little sister was in his arms as he held her close to him.
Katherine glanced at Mason before her eyes landed on Jacob.
"Not at all, sweetie. Nothing is wrong. You just hold your baby sister while we finish this okay?" But Jacob didn’t understand.
He knew that something was wrong and yet, no one was willing to tell him.
He watched his parents return to packing their bags, when all of a sudden, the door banged open with two men with guns in their arms walking inside.
One was familiar, and Katherine recognized him. He was the sweatshirt man that she’d seen Marcus with at the alley the other day.
However, the other person looked like a mad person. He had a grin on his tattooed face.
He looked so scary that Jacob ended up screaming at him.
"So you think you can leave so easily?" The sweatshirt guy questioned, almost too amused by what was happening, as if he enjoyed every little thing about it.
He grabbed Mason, shoving him to the ground.
"Boss wants to speak to you," he added.
"I’m not going anywhere with you," Mason said.
The tattooed man grinned, as if he was expecting Mason to say those words.
"Well, guess what. The boss already gave us the instructions to either bring you alive or kill you off."
Katherine’s eyes nearly bulged right out of their sockets as she stared at Mason.
He’d gotten himself into this trouble for her in the first place.
And now, there was a high chance he was going to lose his life because of her. All because she could stay out of trouble. All because she was busy planning the death of her enemy who turned out to be her sister.
"No!! Don’t kill him please!" She pleaded, her arms clasped together. Tears already pooled in her eyes but there was nothing she could do.
She was forced to kneel on the ground, and her two children were right there.
Her daughter was already crying, already sensing the danger, while Jacob held her, tears already starting to stream down his cheeks.
He was just a little boy. She didn’t want anyone in her family to die because of her past mistakes.
"Please don’t kill him!" She pleaded once again, but the two men before her didn’t seem like the ones to understand where she was coming from.
They were drug dealers who looked like they’d stained their hands with blood a few times. Staining it with Marcus’s blood didn’t seem like it was a big deal to them.
"Will you look at that? I didn’t even notice that you have such a beautiful wife." The hoodlum with the tattooed face said. "TY, did you know this? How come you didn’t tell me? What do you say we have a little bit of fun with her before we kill her off as well?"
TY didn’t reply at all.
When the tattooed face guy reached out to touch Katherine, Mason instantly intervened, shoving his arm off but that only got him an agitated growl.
The base of the gun was used to hit him on the head, causing him to fall back. He touched the spot and stared back at his own blood.
"Mason!" Katherine hurried towards him but the tattooed guy reached for her, stopping her immediately.
"And where do you think you’re going, sweetheart?" He demanded, holding her chin so tightly it hurt. "I’m not done with you yet." Then he scowled. "TY, finish him."
Katherine’s eyes widened when she heard those words.
She faced the sweatshirt guy. She watched as he cocked his gun and aimed it at Mason who was still bleeding from the impact from earlier.
"No," she whispered. "Please no."
The tattooed guy laughed as the bullet shot rang in the house. Since they lived far away from the streets, no one would hear the gunshot and come running to help.
Katherine’s heart skipped a beat after beats when she saw Mason lying on the ground, a bullet to his head. His eyes were wide open as if he was still alive, but he wasn’t anymore.
He was dead.
Dead.
"Dad!!" Jacob ran to his father and shook his body, but he didn’t bulge. "Dad!!"
"Now that we’re done with that, why don’t I deal with you myself?" The tattooed man licked his lips as he inched closer, his tongue licking Katherine’s cheeks.
The feeling made her skin crawl while she resisted the urge to push him off.
Mason was dead, and the lives of her children relied on her next move. So, she held herself back.
However, before he could continue any further, he heard another gunshot. And this type, Katherine watched as the sweatshirt man fell to the ground.
They both turned their heads towards the door, and for the first time in her life, Katherine was pleased to see Eva.
