Chapter 45 - A Real Training

After a week...

As Hua Qingyan stood in the training ground, her body still aching from the past months of relentless exercises. But today...it was different, today marked the official start of her martial arts training.

She clenched her fists, a small sense of pride swelling in her chest. In her past life, she had known nothing of these hardships, had never experienced the pain and pride that came with true strength. But now, she was learning from the very best warrior in the empire...her own brother.

Hua Zhiyan, standing beside her with his arms crossed, noticed the gleam in her eyes and smirked. "Don't feel too proud," he teased.

"You've only just started. What you've endured these past months was nothing when compared to what's coming. It will be far tougher than just running around and fetching water."

She side-eyed him, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing her waver. "Well, We'll see about that," she muttered before diving into her training.

That evening, after hours of training, Hua Qingyan changed into her men's attire and headed toward her merchant company, Meixi accompanying her as always. The streets of the capital were alive with the glow of lanterns and the chatter of merchants calling out their wares.

As they were walking, a commotion caught Qingyan's attention. A small crowd were gathered around a game stall where a shopkeeper encouraged people to try their luck at archery. "Hit the center, and you will win a fine prize!" the shopkeeper announced.

Among the spectators, a tall, handsome man smirked as he watched the game. "Is this really the standard of archery in Wei empire?" he mocked. "If this is how you entertain yourselves, no wonder you guys all lack real skill."

Hua Qingyan's blood boiled. This man...this outsider dared to insult our people so carelessly?!.

She stepped forward, her gaze were sharp. "Hmm, Is that so?" she said, her voice calm yet laced with challenge.

The man raised his eyebrows at her sudden intrusion but didn't said anything.

Qingyan grabbed a bow from the shopkeeper and picked up an arrow. She took a steady breath, drew the string back with precision, and released it. I know I'm not well trained in martial arts but that doesn't mean I'll just watch some outsider mocking my people, if someone has to step in I'll show him, whatever it takes.

The arrow peireced through the air and landed a dead center.

The crowd gasped. Even Hua Qingyan was surprised but she didn't show it.

The shopkeeper cheered. "A perfect shot! Young man." Then, handing her the prize, a jade ornament.

Hua Qingyan didn't even spare a glance at it. Instead, she turned to the man who had mocked them earlier and gave him a slow, mocking side-eye before walking away, leaving him momentarily stunned.

Meixi giggled behind her hand. "That was satisfying to watch, my lady," she whispered.

Qingyan smirked. "Well, He had it coming."
