Chapter 27: Trailers

Perched before her computer, Sasha guided her mouse to click on the link of The Insiders’ trailer first, saving the best for last.

Expanding to full screen, she gazed intently at the monitor as it faded to black, music flowing into her ears through the earphones.

The rhythm, background music, and scenes were all fast-paced, quickening her pulse. Lines of text in a somber hue would materialize on the screen like a striking blow, sound effects intensifying its force.

"This spring..."

"Dragon Films presents..."

"The Insiders!"

The trailer launched as brief scenes erupted in bursts, snapping swiftly to the next from the drama.

Ryan Black emerged first, his face radiating with a smile, dressed in corporate clothes, and balancing two coffee cups in his hands.

Luna Veil followed, composed and earnest, seated before a computer, apparently within the same firm.

Theon Sterling, detached and reserved, toting identical coffee cups to Ryan’s.

The scene transitioned, both Ryan and Theon extending a coffee cup to Luna simultaneously.

"Is it a simple love triangle or something deeper?"

The text emerged.

The further scenes showed them in panic, searching for something while hiding from others in the office of their boss.

At times, they would be on the brink of getting caught when the scene would cut abruptly to another character, trying to outmaneuver the rest.

Then the scenes began to change faster than the eye could blink, as if flipping through the pages of a book.

Finally, the credits rolled as the poster of The Insiders concluded the trailer.

"Wow," escaped Sasha’s lips.

She reclined in her chair, reflecting on the trailer. It had succeeded in igniting her interest without divulging much information about the plot.

Still, she knew from the synopsis of the show that the series was about three spies from different organizations infiltrating the same corporation to steal its secrets.

Sasha then decided to check the comments under the trailer. It had been an hour since the trailer was posted, so a lot of comments had accumulated under it.

[Theon is so cool! Can’t wait for the drama to release.]

[Theon, your fans are here to support you.]

[This is going to be a blockbuster, mark my words!]

[Theon is the next superstar of this industry!]

Sasha felt as if eighty to ninety percent of comments solely praised Theon.

Amidst their onslaught, Ryan and Luna’s supporters were nearly submerged; she could rarely spot one or two mentions of them in every ten remarks.

Ryan and Luna weren’t successful movie stars, but they were nonetheless acclaimed actors with hit dramas under their belt.

For their mentions to be so sparse struck Sasha as peculiar.

Exhaling a brief sigh, she proceeded to the part she was excited about.

Since she had been following To Your Heart’s first season, she was already invested in the story. It was natural to be more excited for its trailer than The Insiders’ one.

Having a first season was an advantage and a disadvantage at the same time for To Your Heart.

New viewers would feel reluctant to watch the second season since they would need to watch the first season first.

Meanwhile, viewers who had already watched the first season would feel more drawn to the second season of the drama than toward The Insiders.

Sasha searched for To Your Heart’s trailer and clicked on the video on AxisPlay’s official channel.

The background music of this trailer stood in stark contrast to The Insiders’ trailer. It was more romantic, a gentle tune that softened the soul.

The screen showed a classroom of students, a teacher writing something on the board, and Gisha’s character Nataly in a school uniform with shoulder-length hair. She looked younger than in the first season.

Then, a click occurred on the doorknob, the scene cut, and the door opened; however, the camera didn’t reveal the person; instead, the screen was filled with reactions from other students.

The screen changed; the atmosphere changed, with an unfamiliar female voice speaking as the narrator.

"Prince Shin, that’s what we called him."

A shot from the back of an individual in a black leather jacket, calmly punching a man without pause, filled the screen: unconscious, bloodied student bodies lying around him in different school uniforms.

His face, however, wasn’t revealed; only his wide, robust back faced the lens.

"Who knew he would be so terrifying if someone hurt his loved one..."

Then, the frame changed again, the villain of the drama smiling sinisterly, leaning back on his couch.

The shots accelerated, transitioning from one to the next, and then the trailer ended with Leon screaming in anger.

As the screen dimmed, Sasha found herself craving for more. She was feeling impatient at the thought of waiting for the series to air to watch the drama.

If she had to make a decision as to which drama to watch, it would without a doubt be To Your Heart.

Eager to know others’ reactions as well, she scrolled down to the comment section.

[Bwahaha, Aren didn’t even get to show his face in the trailer. What? Is he too ugly to feature in the trailer? Is AxisPlay afraid that viewers wouldn’t watch the drama if his face was shown?]

[Guys, I was here to just compare the screen-time of Aren and Theon, but guess what... Aren didn’t even show his face, hahaha]

While Theon’s fans were either delighted or mocking Aren’s absence from the trailer, the genuine fans of To Your Heart only had praises for the trailer.

[I think this was a great trailer. It made me want to watch the drama right away. I can’t wait!]

[I was actually here to get a glimpse of Aren’s first look, but he didn’t appear. But now I’m more excited to see him in the actual drama.]

[This trailer just got recommended on my feed, and I clicked out of curiosity. Now, I think I will have to give the first season a watch and wait for the second season to air.]

[Man... those reactions from other students just made me too curious to want to see the actual scene. Just what did they see to have those kinds of reactions?] 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Sasha kept skipping Theon’s fans’ hateful comments, focusing only on reading genuine ones. She felt delighted to discover that numerous others liked the trailer similar to her.

At this moment, Misha texted her on LinkChat: [Watched the trailer?]

[Yes]

Misha:

[What’s the mystery around Shin? I’m so excited to find out. Why couldn’t they just make the trailer a little longer?]
